Too Faced Clover Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

I purchased this item and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.

Too Faced Clover Eyeshadow Palette ($49) is a new 18 pan eyeshadow palette inspired by Jerrod Blandino’s chihuahua, Clover. This is one of Too Faced’s cutest launches to date not to mention it supports a very good cause with Too Faced donating $250,000 of the sales of the palettes to the Best Friends Animal Society.

I personally purchased it for a few reasons one of which is I have and had chihuahuas in my life. It’s sort of my dog of choice ;-D Some people think of them as ankle biters but they are actually quite lovable animals with unique personalities. You probably already met my girl Kia if you follow me on Instagram. She’s a sweetheart! Not like any chihuahua I’ve met or owned in the past. She has an incredibly loving personality to everyone she meets.

Anyway, it’s one of the reasons I purchased the Clover Eyeshadow Palette. Secondly, I purchased it because it supports an excellent cause. And lastly, this packaging. Who’s the artist? The kawaii art work is very Japanese in style and awfully sweet. Oddly enough, I felt like the Totally Cute Palette was quite juvenile and I guess Clover’s Palette might fall into the same realms for some people. But I love it! I think it’s adorable. Clover’s anime is quite cute and his cast of friends remind me of something straight out of Sanrio!

Sadly, the packaging is sort of the only thing I loved about this palette.

I purchased this item and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.

This L’Oreal Holiday Makeup Kit ($29.99) is one of several L’Oreal Holiday 2017 Gift Sets that launched at Ulta recently. I’m pretty impressed with drugstore brands this year in particular L’Oreal as they have a slew of value sets for the Holiday season.

This particular set introduces you to L’Oreal’s latest eyeshadow, Infallible Paints Metallic Shadow, which I reviewed a few months ago and really loved.

Let’s take a peek at other offerings in this set.

Sephora Allegedly Sued After Woman Gets Herpes

Apparently a woman is allegedly suing Sephora because she got herpes after testing a lipstick out in store. According to a TMZ report a woman claims she visited a store in 2015 and sampled a lipstick and ended up with herpes on her lip. She claims she has never had herpes or cold sores prior to visiting Sephora and she is now apparently suing Sephora because of it.

I don’t know if I believe everything TMZ reports on so who knows if this is actually true or not. However, it is a good less in hygiene. I’ve been collecting and wearing makeup for years but I never, ever test it in store. I’ve never set in a chair and had my makeup done by a makeup artist or sales associates because I’m a germ-a-phobe. I also limited testing to swatches on my arm and never on my face. I’d rather been shot than apply a lipgloss or a lipstick on my lips on a counter. I’ve seen people slather on layers of lipstick, lipgloss, or even do a full face by fluttering from display to display or counter to counter but I would never. It’s just gross not to mention it’s a breeding ground for germs.

Most counters or artists will defend the fact by saying they are very careful about sanitizing makeup at the counters. But sorry, they can get busy and I’ve seen with my own eyes people applying lipstick and putting it right back into a display and no sanitizing happens after the fact. I’m not even thinking of herpes here. What about the common cold?

So yeah, please, don’t go to a counter and slather your lips in lipstick or gloss or even foundation. Swatch it on your hand. Better safe than sorry!

Do you test on your arm or on your actual face, lips, and eyes?

Do share!
