Eyeshadow Palettes have come a very long way but you have to wonder and ask yourself, “Are Eyeshadow Palettes still popular today?” To answer that question you might to look back to the really early days 2000s when brands like Tarte, Urban Decay, and Too Faced were all creating innovative eyeshadow palettes with 15 or more shades and in doing so they changed how we look at eyeshadow and even how we purchase in to this day.
I can recall a great buzz and excitement when there was a new palette that was dropping almost every other day. It’s been years since eyeshadow palettes have taken the stage but I don’t think anyone who lived through that era can’t say there wasn’t a lot of excitement (and yes, some hype too!) that came with a brand new shadow palette launch. Things became repetitive for sure but no one can deny that palettes really changed the world of eyeshadow as we know it and in some ways eliminated solo and single eyeshadow shades. There are still brands that have single shades readily available in their catalog like MAC Cosmetics but many brands like Urban Decay, Tarte, Too Faced, and even luxury brands like Tom Ford have or introduce single eyeshadows.
I still think I get excited a little about a new palette. I like variety as much as the next person and it’s fun to get a palette with several hundred shades to choose from. But my logical side always steps in to remind me I likely already all these shades already and wouldn’t it be nicer to either have a smaller palette or even some single shades to choose from. Do you think eyeshadow palettes are still popular? Do you still find them appealing? A few new ones have popped up the last few weeks and I’ve gathered them up below for a little discussion! I know with the Sephora Spring Savings Event coming around I have at least one of these on my wish list even though I do feel somewhat done with palettes. And don’t forget eyeshadow palettes come with a lot of pros and cons as well! You get a lot of variety, tons of bang for your buck, but storage and travel can be tricky not to mention repeititve colors!
Let’s take a look and see what you think!
