Bed Bath & Beyond’s brick and mortar stores may be gone (they all close as of this upcoming weekend) but the Bed Bath & Beyond website relaunched Tuesday under its new owner, Overstock.com! The iconic home goods retailer declared bankrupt earlier this year but is getting a new lease on life with this relaunch.

According to Overstock’s CEO the goal is to combine Bed Bath & Beyond’s name with Overstock’s business model to create a new shopping experience. You’ll even see $50 of loyalty reward points reinstated on the new site from your old Bed Bath & Beyond account and other cool perks like 20% off, and transfer of membership, along with all current rewards, for members of Club O, Overstock’s former loyalty program, to a new Welcome Rewards loyalty program plus 25% off initial purchases for anyone who downloads the new Bed Bath & Beyond mobile app. Overstock announced it had purchased Bed Bath & Beyond’s intellectual property and digital assets out of bankruptcy for $21.5 million in cash. This a risky venture considering their main competition is Amazon but Overstock is betting on Bed Bath & Beyond’s fanbase to continue wanting to buy from them going forward. I wish them well! I know I shopped there from time to time but I was one of those people that always had a coupon handy since I found their prices seemed quite high compared to other retailers. They do still have a Loyal Program so that might be incentive enough for people to want to return.

Sol de Janeiro Beija Flor Renewing Body Wash is now available (P.S. the scent is available in a Deo now too!). Beija Flor is BR540’s long distance cousin! It’s not tropical scent which is pretty standard for Sol de Janeiro but more a warm floral with notes of Brazilian Jasmine, Pink Dragonfruit, and Sheer Vanilla! People love comparing it to BR540 and sure, the scents seem to share a bit of DNA but they aren’t dupes at all but more like long distance cousins. That means if you adore BR540 it’s a give you’ll enjoy Beija Flor.

I’m pretty happy they are extending the line to include a body wash as I found layering Sol de Janeiro products is the key to having them last longer on your skin as they do disappear fairly fast. As happy as I am about a new addition to the Beija Flor family I’m still waiting for them to hit me up with a body wash and body cream for Cheirosa ’71. 🙁 So far we’ve only gotten a limited edition hand cream!

Thanks to Laura today for sharing the news that PYT Beauty is going out of business and closing up shop. You can snag savings up to 70% Off using code CLOSEUP70 on their website right now and the brand will continue to sell at Macy’s, Ulta, and other retailers until stock is depleted. The brand is a seven years old and is a “clean” brand started by Mary Schulman.

PYT Beauty joins brands like Becca, Clarisonic, Bite Beauty, and others that have gone out of business in the last few years. I suspect we’ll see others as we near the new year. PYT Beauty didn’t disclose why they are closing up but it could be supply issues due to the Pandemic, rises costs, etc…

Or it could be just a cast of an oversaturated beauty world where some brands simply fall between the cracks. I personally only ever tried one item from PYT Beauty. For some reason, the brand never caught my eye.

I’m quite sad to see them go though! It’s just sad seeing any beauty brand close up because even if I wasn’t their fan there are hundreds of others that do love it and will be missing their favorite products.

I wish PYT Beauty well! Hopefully we’ll see them in the future or re-invented under some new name.
