Quick question, did anyone ask for Better Than Sex Mascara Chocolate which is a new brown shade of Better Than Sex Mascara. Anyone? You in the back did you ask for this? No? Me neither. I guess we can all sit back down and not kickoff Spring 2023 with a brown shade of Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara that no one asked for.

I’m joking obviously. If you love Better Than Sex Mascara awesome. But me? I truly believe this is one of the most overhyped mascaras in the history of my makeup life. They’ve been trying to make this happen for years now and I dunno if it is happening or isn’t?!?!? I can’t tell. Is it popular or does everyone hate it as much as me!? I mean, they went so far as to throw Kandee Johnson in a bathtub with a mermaid tale to make the waterproof version a thing! It’s a really overpriced and underperforming mascara. Here’s the deal! I’d totally say the $28 was worth it if it gave me the longer, full lashes it promises. But at $28 it really delivers some mediocre lash results for me. It’s just not it.

The new cocoa-inspired edition is a rich, deep chocolate brown. And hey, if you love Better Than Sex Mascara I’m positive you’ll adore Better than Sex Mascara Chocolate. But sadly, this is a miss for me. I can totally skip it and I feel like I’m talking for much of the makeup community. I think we’re over anything that has “Better Than Sex” in the name. It sounds so early 2000s.

Pat Mcgrath The Lunar Year Collection has launched at patmcgrath.com and sephora.com and is available to celebrate the Chinese New Year 2023. You can also snag it at 10% Off with code LUNAR10. Lunar Year feels incredibly early this year. Doesn’t it? But it’s soon on the way and of course, the regular round-up of makeup and beauty products has gotten packaged up for the Holiday. I always find it a cop-out when brands take products and repackage them in red. Dude, come on! Put a little effort into things. The red packaging is pretty but something new would be lovely. Like Charlotte Tilbury always does a Lunar Year Magic Cream but heck, I wouldn’t be averse to a nice red eyeshadow palette!

Sadly, Pat Mcgrath’s Lunar Year Collection is a repromote of a lot of products. Venus in Fleurs Luxe Quad: Voyeuristic Vixen is now available in limited edition red packaging but it has been available in standard packaging in the past which makes it a repromoted eyeshadow palette! As far as I know the lipstick is a new shade. Please correct me if I’m wrong but MatteTrance Lipstick in Rouge 8 is a new shade. It’s a brick red which makes me happy as I tend to love a good, warm brick red.

But one of the biggest disappointments here is the Sublime Perfection Blurring Under-Eye Powder in Light is repromoted. This kind of sucks as it was available for a while for $16 on sale (by the way all the other shades are in stock and on sale for $16! The banana shade is brilliant!). But it is out of stock now and available again in the Lunar Year Collection for $32. It kind of sucks since the other shades are all half off (P.S. That LUNAR10 code will get you 10% off the $16 sale ones).

I’m ranting obviously but I always get so terribly disappointed with how little effort goes into Lunar Year Collections. Something new would be great!

Well, I’m in love. The new Tarte Sweet Tarte Cravings Eyeshadow Palette is a darling new Valentine’s Day/Spring 2023 release that’s available now at ulta.com and I can’t say I don’t love it. Do I have shades like this in my collection already? Probably but I still really, really like this palette.

This delicious chocolate-scented eyeshadow palette includes nine eyeshadows in matte and shimmer finishes. The palette appears to combine rich chocolate shades with a few sultry plums! It’s a very pretty palette not to mention cute too as it resembles a box of chocolates and has cute tiny heart embossment on the eyeshadows. It’s definitely a bit of a replay of the two Tarte Sweet Tarte Eyeshadow Palette that launched for Holiday 2021. The original Frosted Sweet Tarte Eyeshadow Palette is actually still available but the warmer of the two was sold out. I actually got them last year and I really enjoyed them and still use them. This is much, much deeper if the promo images are accurate. The colors in the other two palettes are a bit more lighter and sheerer which I personally didn’t mind but I’m pretty must lusting after this one now as well.

I realize I probably have a lot of these shades ten times over but I’m still loving on this. I also adore the fact it’s a cohesive assortment of shades as I find too many palettes lately just throw in random shades that I fail miserably at incorporating into a look. Do I need it? Probably not. Do I want it? Yeah, I admit I kind of do.
