Time for a Little Clinique Sunscreen

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Clinique Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Fluid for Face

It’s freezing out. I’d just like to throw that out there. So much for an early Spring right? But let’s chat sunscreen anyway because you should be worried about both in great weather and not so great weather!

Clinique Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Fluid for Face ($26) is a lightweight mineral fluid sunscreen that’s apparently even gentle enough for use around the eyes.

Hmmm! Have you every gotten sunscreen in your eyes? It’s so NOT a pretty thing! Oh the burning agonizing pain!

I have a secret confession! I hate fluid sunscreens. They always apply great but they go through this transitional phase during the application. They start out nicely at first but as you apply they go rubbery and suddenly scratchy and kind of matte, and finally they feel sort of mask-like and itchy. I tend to avoid them. I really wish US sunscreens would catch up to Japanese ones. The gel SPF that Japan products are amazing! Super fast absorbing, lighting hydrating, never sticky, tacky, or heavy!

But, I’m confident Clinique’s formula will be good so I’m going to give it a little try out.

I’ll let you know my thoughts.

What’s your fav SPF?

I’m Not Sold On Glamglow But Maybe These Little Tubes Will Convince Me!

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

glamglow tube

So yeah, sorry, I’m not completely sold on Glamglow after trying out the Thirsty Mud Hydrating Treatment. Oh! And those those silly Bright Mud Eye Treatments!

I’m also not particularly keen on the fact that their expensive masks come in a jar! I mean, if they are as great as you say and they contain all these incredible good for you skin ingredients why are you putting them in a jar!? After the air hits that mask it’s going to be rendered completely useless! Buh-bye money!

But good news!

The travel size 0.5 oz jars of GlamGlow is now sold in a tube exclusively at Nordstrom! They are still $22, they are still 0.5 oz in size, but the packaging has changed and they are now available in a squeeze tube which means you can keep them nice and fresh. It also means you don’t have to spend one million dollars to try the larger size as these small 0.5 oz jars typically will get you two to three uses depending how much you use.

Nordstrom carries them in the Youthmud, Powdermud, Thirstymud, and Flashmud formulas plus they ship free!

So, if you wanna try ’em this is a good way to do so.

Be warned though, I haven’t seen much difference in my skin when using them but I’m still working my way through the formulas so I’m hoping to hit the one that does work!

No Instant Brightening Effect with Kiehl’s Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque

This was provided to me by a brand for review and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post but all opinions are my own.

Kiehl's Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque1

Kiehl’s Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque ($32) is one of two new facial masks that were recently introduced to Kiehl’s permanent collection.

The Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque apparently brightens and invigorates skin in minutes! You know how I constantly, broken recorder you with my endless quest to cure my dull, tired skin right? That translates as me being extra excited to try out Kiehl’s new mask because they sold me on that “instantly brightens dull, fatigued skin and restores skin’s healthy, rosy appearance over time” super easily.

Who doesn’t want a quick fix to their complexion woe?

This little mask is formulated with cranberry extract as well as cranberry seeds to gently exfoliate skin but the start ingredient is Turmeric Extract. Everyone and their mother is shouting from the rooftops about turmeric being not only a taste addition to Tandoori Chicken but also a fabulous addition to your facial care. Apparently it’s a natural antiseptic and anti-inflammatory ingredient with color balance properties. That had me question why Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque would be a good pick for me since it apparently might be better suited for acne prone skin. But hey, they keep telling me this is all about getting your glow because and it’s loaded with a good deal of antioxidants and vitamins to replenish skin.

Actually, the brightening effect you might get is simply due to the cranberry seeds which will slough away dead skin cells. Outside of that, I’m not really seeing why everyone is so hung up on Turmeric.

Whoever Does Alanna Masterson’s Makeup Must Also Do Mercedes Mason’s Too!

Mercedes Mason

I still haven’t figured out what Alanna Masterson was wearing on her face a few months ago when she appeared on the Talking Dead. But I digress to a more recent Talking Dead episode because I’m equally curious what Mercedes Mason is wearing. Maybe they both have the same makeup artist? Because they both have some seriously flattering shades on for brunettes.

Mercedes Mason has been seen in a number of clips on Talking Dead recently discussing Fear the Walking Dead and she’s wearing the most flattering nudes ever. On her lips she has a really pretty peach nude. It’s so difficult to get a great nude lipstick and lipgloss shade without looking like you have zombie lips, no pun intended. This shade suits her coloring beautifully! She also has a very sheer peachy eyeshadow with a flattering brown eyeliner. Funny, whenever I wear brown eyeliner it looks black! Outside of Milani Fierce Foil Eyeliner in Brown, brown eyeliners always look black on my eyes! She also has a delightful nude yet glow-y peach on her cheeks. It’s just a really flattering look for a girl with brown hair and eyes.

I don’t typically discuss celebrity looks on here because I admit I find them boring or untruthful. Like, how Julie Roberts wore so and so shade of Covergirl Lipstick to a movie premiere. Everyone and their mom will report that the shade was worn by her at some mega event. Girl, please, you know that’s not Covergirl! It’s probably a $50 Guerlain Lipstick and Glamour Magizine is trying to sell us that you’re walking the Red Carpet in drugstore lipstick.

I also find most celeb makeup breakdowns a bit boring. But sometimes a look will capture my attention and make me take notice. The irony is probably the fact that Mercedes Mason isn’t a “hot” topic of discussion anywhere outside of my site.

But I just thought her look was really great and super wearable.

We need a Talking Dead series that discusses the makeup that the actresses are wearing in interviews so we can replicate the look ha!

Anyway, what do you think of her makeup?

Pretty flattering eh?

MAC Dare Hue Brow Pencils Bring a Little Color to Your Brows

Dominic Skinner, Senior Artist for MAC Cosmetics UK, posted images of the new MAC Dare Hue Brow Pencils on his Instagram today. Did you read about my Benefit Brow Experience? If so, you already know I avoid brow powders and brow gels like the plague. My brows are just too thick already and they really don’t need a helping hand.

I’m not sure how I feel about the Dare Hue Pencils for myself but I imagine some people are going to really, really like the idea and concept behind these.

MAC is launching these yummies in six yummy pastel ice cream inspired shades with the Soft Serve Collection that will be available June 2nd.

Shades include:

  • Violet Infused (soft lavender)
  • Blonde Not Bland (pastel peach)
  • Pink Confetti (pastel pink)
  • Frisky Fresh (soft mint green)
  • What a Highlight (soft white gold highlighter)
  • Clearly Groomed (nudey beige)

mac brow hue

I imagine if you’re currently rocking a pastel shade of hair these will be quite a nice way and easy way to get matching color on your brows!

I kind of find myself wishing they were available in more vibrant shades like some sort of super pigmented aqua. Of course, I’d likely never wear them but I still kind of want to see how an aqua would look!

What do you think of these pencils?

Yay?

Nay?

Do share!
