volume clubbing l Bourjois Paris Volume Clubbing Mascara Review

I probably should start this review by expressing my deep love for Bourjois Paris mascara. Prior to becoming a total addict and junkie to Japanese Brand Mascaras I was a complete Bourjois Paris fan girl when it came to mascara!

Bourjois Paris makes some sincerely great mascaras and I have quite a few in my makeup arsenal that I absolutely adore using daily!

I picked up a Bourjois Paris Volume Clubbing Mascara a week or so ago when doing a Sephora order and I should have seen the writing on the wall with this one. I should have reminded myself that lately Bourjois Paris has fallen off the awesome mascara bandwagon. Example: Yes To Volume, No To Clumps how about they reverse the title and say YES To Clumps and No Volume At all!

I’m a huge fan of Bourjois Paris Maxi Frange and I was somewhat hopeful that Volume Clubbing Mascara with it’s big chunky applicator brush might be the next awesome deal on the mascara hit list.

Awesome, no.

Crap, yes.

I purchased this rubbish for $17 USD in the color Brun Remix. Since I have only one other brown mascara in my entire mass collection I was thinking how beautifully it would compliment my eyes. The color is very nice. It’s a chocolate brown with a tiny sheen of lighter gold!

As I mentioned the brush is big and chunky which I always find great for application however in this case I think both the brush and the formula of the mascara just create one big, nasty mess on your lashes.

L@@k kids a hot mess waiting to happen!

I curled my lashes prior to use and proceeded to apply. What came out was a clumpy mess of wet mascara. My lashes were literally stuck together in large, wet chunks. It was thee most disgusting look I’ve ever gotten from mascara. This failed to separate my lashes, yes I did get some volume, but forget the volume what about the mess of clumping I had going on here?! It almost felt like I was applying really old mascara to my lashes. Every notice when mascara ages it tends to clump lashes up badly? That would be the case with this mascara.

It’s seriously a mess to use, an absolute mess.

After spending the next five minutes coming my lashes out and disturbing the product better with my own mascara comb, since the bloody brush was of no use, I decided I’d give it a test drive out for the day.

Flaking, smudging, raccoon eye nightmare.

Bad, bad idea to go out of the house with this crap on my eyelashes.

I came home with flakes of mascara all over my cheeks, dark, runny streaks of mascara under my eyes, and just grossness all around.

I am so utterly and completely shocked and disappointed how bad this truly is.

Bourjois Paris Volume Clubbing Mascara gets a big fat DON’T BUY from the Muse!

Hate it!

Big waste of cash!

Tried this?

Love it?

Hating it as much as the Muse!

This is the first thing I reviewed on my blog and yes, it is CRAPOLA!

I also poked myself in the eye with this mascara and it was pain like never before I tell ya!

Hi Izzy, I’m so tempted to buy this prior to your review. Now I can skip this! I bought Yes to Volume No to Clumps and I must say, this sucks! No volume, no lengthening! Anyway, have a happy week ahead! :)

I can’t believe you bought that mascara!!! I’ve been bashing this mascara all around the cyberspace whenever I get a chance. I tried it a few times in the store and was never as unhappy with a product as I was with this one. I was really disappointed because I’d been so happy with Bourjois products up till this atrocity. Hopefully Bourjois will redeem itself with their next collection. Here’s hoping!

PS. The other crappy mascara is Easy Waterproof, though I’m not sure if it’s available in the US. If it’s not, lucky you; if it is, DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON IT!!!

hiya liz!

hehe. Guess I have to try it all once :)

I didn’t see your review otherwise I’d totally go with whatever you said hehe!

I must say I like most of the products as well so I’m shocked when I get something I hate from a brand I normally trust!

The collections have been weak lately :( Been a while since I grabbed anything from them in all honesty aside from my BP minis!

Nope not available here unless it’s named something else. Maxi Frange is a fav of mine and works freaking well!

Will keep my eyes peeled for this waterproof stuff and totally stay clear!

;)

I totally agree with your review! I tried it ONCE and it totally clumped and flaked before I even left the house. I don’t understand, as I really tend to like Bourjois too. Ah well, I guess even the best brands have a mishap here and there!

Hi musey, if you want a lash-defining mascara i’d recc Shu’s precise volume mascara, i’m using the waterproof one, although it’s not much for volume but it defines and separates lashes amazingly, the bristles are small enough to get the lower lashes even for asian eyes like mine. I use this before i use a volumizing mascara so that there’ll be no clumps and basically i’m adding volume to already defined lashes =D

Hello all…
I also have bought this mascara…(in absolute black) or what ever the name may be..
i also hated hated hated it on my first, second and third application of the product…
note the hated…
HA
i was determined as this bloody thing cost me so much (in my eyes its expensive) to make this work…
and it has
i now LOVE and SWEAR by this thing…
strange i know…
the clumps seem to wear out after the 5th application or so…
i also much advise…
don’t use the brush as shown its clump mania..
i only use the Brissels not the well..(apparently to be able to apply more mascara to the lashes) that in my eyes is not needed.. HA
although it can be a fag…
i now adore this thing and carry it around with me everywhere i go…
so much so i shall be buying another after this is finished… i hope this has helped… :D
hope you are well
sorry this is long…
love x

hi helena :)

I haven’t tried any Shu mascaras. Love shu fiercely but never tried a mascara from ‘em! Thanks for the rec!

It sounds good! I like a smaller brush for separating lashes and this sounds perfect as a prep prior to using a more volumizing mascara!

I normally use MJ or BdK as my primary mascara and occasionally Kate ;) Excel also makes an awesome one but it may be a bit too heavy for asian lashes. It feels like glue on but it really lengthens well!

hello there alice!

Well finally someone who likes it hehehe I was worried for a sec there ;)

I find, like you, after using a product and hating it at first I end up loving it after a while ;) I wish I could say that happened with this but after my 2nd attempt I’ve given up! It’s just too gooky and thick and it makes me look like a raccoon :(

I’ve tried separating with a comb but it still wasn’t working for me :(

Thanks for giving us your tips and tricks on how to best use. I may give it another try just for the sake of saying I didn’t give up hehe :)

Appreciate the comment and thank you!

Hugs!

Hi Muse! I haven’t tried this mascara, but I’ve tried tons of them. And the one I keep coming back to is Maybelline Great Lash. Relatively cheap and a classic. It seems to really work best for me.
