I already own a MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Light but when I seen the brand new Mineralize Skinfinish Duo released with MAC New View I didn’t hesitate in questioning whether I needed another one!

These are absolutely brilliant and it’s absolutely essential you pick one up even if you own the previous matte release. These are a unique duo of shimmer and matte powder in one compact. You get the benefits of an MSF plus a gorgeous shimmer to highlight! Is that freaking cool or what?

Perfection!

I do have one minor rant. I wish the split was even. The duo contains more matte MSF than it does shimmer so it’s pretty much an uneven split with the matte side making up about 75% of the palette while the shimmer side makes up the other 25%! I’m a shimmer girl so less is more doesn’t apply to me! More is better when it comes to shimmer in the Muse’s opinion! An even split would have been rather awesome but I do understand why they felt it was necessary to include more to the matte side.

You have a few choice ways to use this nify little palette which is always great as hey we all like variety right? If you so please you can swirl, swirl, swirl your brush all over the palette and apply which is what I did while I was testing. This creates a soft, candlelight glow to your face with just the right amount of powder and shimmer. Or you can just use either side separately or together! Apply a layer of matte powder to keep your foundation in place or use the powder as your foundation! Apply some shimmer to highlight cheekbones or even sweep across your eyes for a soft shimmer! The possibilities are endless! Multitasking products rock my socks! Can you say perfection on bare skin? Oh my god! I used mine on my freshly moisturized skin and it created such a dewy, fresh look!

I got my shade in Light Medium but there are four other shades to choose! Click on over to the MAC site to check out the shades!

Damn these are LE obviously I’ll need a back up! I can’t help myself!

Loving these?

Ha, I’m completely your opposite then, I was actually happy to see that the duo was uneven with a bias towards the matte piece! I seldom use shimmer all over my face, mostly just to highlight a few areas of my face. I have a shimmer compact from Essence (a German brand, good quality for its price) and a few MAC pigments for highlighting (Vanilla, Naked, Fairy Lite), and you know how they last forever!

I would love to get one of this duo, but I don’t think I will, simply because at the moment, I still have the Studio Fix compact (more than half left) and the Mineralize Loose Powder Foundation. I also have a brand new tube and half a tube left of the Physicians Formula TM. And my new HG tint is Clinique’s Moisture Sheer Tint! I feel I should use up what I have before I buy any again…..

I saw these yesterday but didn’t buy any because of the split. I wish it had been more even too.

I was thinking about purchasing the fairest, can you do a swatch on the skin of your arm of this? I’ve no idea how it shows..

I also had a question: have you tried Kevyn Aucoin makeup or planning to? Would love to see it in your blog.
Have a nice day!

I can understanding being in product overload sometimes! With all that to use up it’s underable you don’t wanna splurge on something new! I’m always sucked into the LE vortex I fear ;)

I am loving these too!! What brush should I use to apply these btw? I know MAC released a brush for this collection but I don’t feel like shelling out another $40 to another brush just for this compact! :)

hi stephy!

Me too me too! I love the brush released but I’m struggling with myself too about shelling out $40 for it.

Have you every purchased any of the christmas brush sets? I’ve been using the foundation brush that’s included with those. It’s the 190SE

Really a great brush for smoothing this on and looks similar to the brush they released with the collection!

BE has a similar one too..if you want I can take a pic of my BE one and you can hunt ebay for it..bet you can get it dirt cheap!

hope this helps!

Jackie,

This should be fine for you. NC15 is the lightest shade I think MAC offers and the light shade of this should work perfectly on your skin!

Happy Shopping! =-)

Im a little annoyed with the shades. I wear Medium Deep in MSFN, but its not available, just Medium Dark. I dont want to be any darker than I have to be!

i most definately want. i guess the uneven split makes sense but and even split would look much nicer. do you find the shimmer in this very fine? i”ve heard that the mineralize skinfinishes released before have some chunky glitter in them but i’m more of a fine milled shimmer kinda girl. what about the sonic chic blushes? chunky or fine?

honestly either way i’ll probly end up buying cuz they look so yum

good morning sashi!

I guess so too but I’m always on shimmer overload hehe!

The shimmer is fine but it can do some seriously disco ball effect if you’re heavy handed!

It’s fine milled when compared to some of the earlier MSF ;)

Sonic Chic is a fine shimmer and barely shows up on your face ;-)

They are simply amazing see my review this morning for the colors. So yum!

You’ll have ‘em!

Hey! I wear NC 25, which shade do you think will look best on me? I’m thinking the lightest one probably, i hate having the makeup line on my collarbone, so I always want to make sure!!
i’m definitely getting this! It looks awesome!

Thanks!

hi anonymous. NC25 (although I prefer NC20 hehe) is about my shade and I’m using the lighest shade.

I think it’ll be fine for your tone and no harsh lines on the neck/collarbone.

It’s really lovely on bare skin ;)

I’d go for the lighter shade it should suite you perfectly!
