Clarins Jazzy Colours Review, Swatches, and Looks

Why do I feel so strange reviewing a Fall Collection right now? Lord, I’ve been so overwhelmed with Holiday Collections that I forgot how much I was loving all the beautiful Fall Collections!

One in particular that totally made my season was Clarins Jazzy Colours! Sadly, Clarins has removed the original promo from their site for this fabulous collection but have no fear it’s still alive and kicking on the website with a bit of searching and across counters worldwide! After trying out Clarins Instant Smooth Foundation I knew I had to dig deeper into the mysterious of Clarins and discover their beautiful Fall Collection for myself!

I tried out a majority of the offerings from Clarins Jazzy Colours and before I even get involved in my full on review I must say that it’s Muse Approved for purchase and comes with my highest recommendation! Clarins Jazzy Colours truly kept the idea of Fall together for me while bringing together warm, bold shades.

My favorite pieces in the collection are the Clarins Colour Quartet for Eyes. Two new shades were introduced for Fall which are So Sublime and So Chic, the palettes respectively create a warmer look and a cooler look. This is my first time trying out a Clarins Colour Quartet Palette and I was quite surprised at how wonderfully pigmented the shadows were. I’m unsure what I was expecting but to say I was in awe over how butter soft, easily blendable, and wonderfully pigmented these were, is an understatement. It’s difficult to choose a favorite from the two but I did fall head over heels in lust with So Chic which is a combination of warm shades that include shimmering black, shimmering white, shimmering khaki green, and a matte plum. So Chic manages to create an intense evening or day time look by contrasting green with a dominant plum and a beautiful highlight of white. The look I created using So Chic was my dupe of the Clarins Jazzy Colours promo image and probably my favorite of the looks I created using the palettes so far.

To start your look you can highlight your highbrow with the shimmering white, follow up by shading your lid and crease with the khaki green, proceed to blend the plum shade into the outer v and move it gently upwards to outline the crease, and finally, complete your look by lining the outer and lower lash line with the shimmering black!

Clarins Colour Quartet in So Sublime is made up of much more cooler tones when compared with So Chic. The palette contains two shades of light and dark contrasting pinks, a shimmering blue liner shade, and a shimmering gray.

For my look with So Sublime I simply used the darker pink on my crease and blended the lighter pink into my lid, I highlighted my brow bone using the gray, and completed the look with a pop of the blue on my lower lash line. I think the blue drowned out my eyes a tiny little bit so my next run with the palette I’ll be lining my upper eye with the blue instead and seeing how that looks!

Each palette is $40 USD and truly it’s not much to pay as the palettes are extremely beautiful pieces. The palettes come housed in a velvet cloth bag so you can store them safely without scratching the posh mirrored compact. The palettes are quite heavy and the quality is seen not only in the contents but in the packaging itself! I truly loved these and can definately see myself returning for more of the color options available.

Clarins Joli Rouge lipstick in Plum completed my look with the Clarins Colour Quartet in So Chic. This is an intense Plum shade with a rich burgundy finish that looks simply stunning with a bold smoky eye look. Although I could gush all day about the shade I have to say that Clarins Joli Rouge is possibly one of the better lipsticks I’ve come across in my travels through the cosmetic universe. Although I fell deeply in love with Urban Decay’s new Lipsticks I have to say that Clarins Joli Rouge has them topped and trumped in spades! The formula is so moisturizing, so vibrant, so glossy, so pigmented! Truly a quality lipstick if ever I did see one! At $23 USD the price is not much difference from Urban Decay’s new lipsticks either! Plum is quite a sophisticated look for me and I know I’ll be reaching for it again and again to top warmer looks I’ll be doing as the Fall season progresses!

And finally a new shade of Clarins Wonder Length Mascara was released which goes wonderfully well, again, with the Clarins Colour Quartet in So Chic! Wonder Plum completes the plum color perfectly in the So Chic palette with the perfect intense shade of plum colored lashes you’ll ever be privy too! The formula is the mascara is quite good and lengthens lashes while separating, curling, and fattening them up beautifully. The application is a straight, skinny brush which easily captured all your lashes in one pull and does a excellent job of getting hard to reach lower lashes!

All in all creating looks with Clarins Jazzy Colour Collection for Fall has been a great experience. The quality of each item was outstanding and I was very pleased with the completed results! I definately recommend picking up the lipstick and So Chic palette as those are my favorite out of the items I tested out!

As mentioned early this is Muse Approved for purchase! I loved it and I’m sure I’ll be sporting So Chic quite a few times this Fall and of course with my Joli Rouge lipstick I’m hopeful I’ll be the height of elegance and sophistication…..what? A girl can dream!

    I love it..so intense!

    Aw thanks honey!

    *hugs* Love ya!

Clarins is a truly great and classy brand, I love their products, too. Since you are into primers, have you seen their Instant Perfection Smoothing Primer? Great!
Thanks for the review!! You are unbelievably productive these days.

  • the Muse

    Hi Miss Muse,

I did notice the huge increase in the Big M’s ego. I always get annoyed when pop celebrities start taking themselves way too seriously. Like Tom Cruise. He got seriously creepy after Magnolia.

Hm…I’ll look more at Twitter. I am trying to stay away from my computer my often.

Yes, that’s totally annoying about Sams! Grr…Stupid Walmart. I think they must get a reduced rate from Discover for making that the only credit card.

The trick to getting around Neimans no Visa is to get gift cards. This may sound weird but I sometimes buy myself a gift card so that I have some extra $ around when great things are released. Kind of a little way of creating a makeup savings account.

The Clarins looks quite nice but I’ll probably skip it. There’s a wet dry straightening iron I want…

It’s so great you already got the MAC MA stuff! I am looking forward to receiving mine. =D

I think Macy’s would be out of business if it weren’t for the store on 34th. I don’t know how much longer they’ll last. More and more people are going to Nordies because it’s more fashionable and it still gives customer service. Macy’s has forgotten that a business needs customers.

It is annoying that they start holidays too early now. I call it holiday fatigue. Very annoying to be sick of Christmas before it’s even here!

I know my feet are tiny for America. I’ve been told they are quite normal size elsewhere in the world. Well, on the small size, but I’d at least be able to buy my shoes in women’s. There’s a reason why I now do most of my clothes shopping at Ralph Lauren and Nordstrom.

Your feet are small for America too! I heard women’s avg size is going up to 8.5-9.

Most of the time when I am away on business I am cleaning up messes and putting out fires. Which is why the visits are intense. I rarely get to travel for a good reason. Lamentably. Also the putting out fires generally means very short notice. Which is also a major pain. Being the nerd I am, I just organized my expense reports for the last 4 years. There were a lot of them.

I kind of like the Dior twilight palette because it’s blues and I love blues. I am on the fence about the powder. I’ll definitely check it out but it has to be better than my beloved Guerlain La Poudre C’est Moi before I’ll buy it. La Poudre was only $72 and it had crushed sapphires. Did you manage to get La Poudre C’est Moi? It’s the best highlighting powder ever. I’ll have to wax poetic about it sometime on my blog.

Givenchy was a total letdown after such a neat Fall collection. Usually holiday is their best! The Dentelle collection is still my favorite ever.

Yes, I’ll be quite generous with the Chantecaille images. My Neimans hasn’t received them yet and Neimans hasn’t posted the images to the website, which makes me worry that the shipments got delayed (nooo!!!).

Going outside the norm is good. Usually the good outweighs the bad.

Sephora is just getting all the shipments of the holiday stuff! Hurrah! I am waiting for the Dior np. I love sparkly black nps.

The Becca is expensive so I have to think long and hard about it. It is rather counter intuitive though to raise prices while the popularity declines. I think cosmetic companies sometimes forget that people will buy from Sephora merely because it’s so convenient and easy.

I did manage to pick up a gold gossamer so I might skip the collection. But still hoping for a ruby loose powder!

You can never have too much nice sparkly shimmer powders. *grins*

Hopefully the rest of the world will find a new country to hate instead of America. It wasn’t very fun to travel to Europe while there were anti-American demonstrations. Large ones, rather than just a couple of nutters.

Eek! That’s terrifying about the Smashbox video. *shudders*

Hopefully Benefit will get more consistent with their releases. That both Thrrob and Powderflage have been good is a hopeful sign… =D

My skin has been freaking out with all the travel (going from ultra humid to arid desert plateau) so I have to layoff testing the new stuff. Bummer. I usually like to play. But it’s calming down. Using a BB cream is helping. The Koreans outdid the Japanese with BBs.

I definitely will check out the blankies. They sound so heavenly! *imaging being cozy during winter*I think they will sell out, but more slowly than last year.

If you can believe it, it’s still too warm here to use flannel sheets. I haven’t turned on the heat in my townhome yet. I suspect I will have to next week, but it’s been quite comfortable still.

Certain industries ban camera cell phones for espionage fear reasons. It’s quite common in certain industries. Which is why I might go for the Touch instead of the Phone. No camera on the Touch and it has the Wifi etc.

I’ll definitely send fall peak color photos soon!

Thanks for the tip on Lush UK! I’ll check it out. Have you ever tried Shiseido’s Honey Cake soap? Also very nice. I actually alternate soaps – Snowcake, Honey Cake, Loccitane Cold Cream, and French Honey and Milk.

I just heard from Children’s Home that the silent auction raised $5,500! I’m not sure how much mine went for, but I hope it went to a happy home. I actually might take up drum lessons – like the Taiko drums. I need to inquire about that this weekend. I need a new hobby now that I had to put riding lessons on hiatus.

Thank goodness it’s Thurs. I treat myself to a fancy coffee on Friday mornings. Gives me sufficient motivation to actually get out of bed. =D Do you have Caribou where you are? It’s much better than Starbucks.

Take care! I hope you have a good Friday! Talk soon! Love ya lots!

  • the Muse

    hello acutelife!

it’s so nice to have you back 🙂 missed ya!

LOL! I’m surprised and delighted with my clarins hauls lately. They are very very nice..I always pictured clarins as being for older french ladies hehe!

    But it’s actually quite hip!

LOL totally can relate I keep telling myself..be good..pace yourself..but it never works 🙂

You’re most welcome, it’s my pleasure to review it for you!

Glad you had a great holiday..lord I wish I could go to Melbourne! Awesome! benefit w00t!

    Happy Weekend dearie!

  • Phyrra

I wish I looked that hot!

    aqworlds.com

I’m soooo excited and hyper and tired right now 😛

  • the Muse

    hi jojoba!

=-) Aw I’m so glad you are loving the clarins reviews!

I’m shocked it isn’t out your side yet as it’s already down off our website here 🙁 they replaced it with the holiday bits already!
    Aw thank you kindly…:) Hugs!

LOL is that a good thing that I created new lemmings for you 🙂

I’m so happy you’re enjoying the line up!

I look forward to reviewing holiday soon! have to get to the counter to pick some up!

  • the Muse

    game *perks up*

    I’ll go look 🙂

awww don’t say that you’re heaps hot =-) and gorgeous too boot!

  • the Muse

    hey betsy

first off did you see givenchy on kiss and makeup? finally it looks like holiday is shaping up and I am now wanting to purchase the powder, two shadows, and the blusher! yay! fab. Sadly saks no longer carries the line so I may have to wait for sephora to get it in..that’s ages away ::(

TC is way creepy period, I can’t even begin to understand that family!

I wish I could say the same but do to musings I spend way too much on it but at least I normally leave my work behind at work and when I get home I don’t bother logging in..although with the cooler weather I do find myself sometimes working on it as I watch tv!

prob do or they got screwed by the cards in the past 🙁

I like your idea of purchasing gcs for yourself..I may start doing that as I agree carying around 300-500 in cash for makeup in a mall doesn’t sit easy with me.

these aren’t le so clarins should have them after fall..I think!

I put an overnight on it as I couldn’t wait to get it 🙂

I think macy’s actually appeals to poorer/middle class families..they get quite a bit of business when they have those 20% off sales…so that’s what runs the store I’m sure although to cs quality is still not there at all! personally I don’t shop for clothes in macy’s dept store aside from the 34th store since the smaller dept stores carry cheaper quality items I’ve noticed.

that’s a good word for it and exactly how I feel..holiday burn out 🙂

what size are you if you don’t mind me asking? shoes that is!

My feet are tiny but they are a bit wide so it kinda doesn’t help as you can’t find smaller sizes in a wide shoe. Sneakers I’m fine and flats but heels in a smaller size aren’t always readily available in wide sizes..especially posher brands that I…embarrassed..collect.

your job sounds exhausting mine is too but it’s at a slower pace thankfully..cleaning up messes is not my strong suite 😛

blues are fab but I really have other things ahead of Dior on my list this year, I’m just hopeful spring is nicer.

I have the Guerlain La Poudre C’est Moi but I never touched it. it was during my beauty vault days 🙂 lately I’m more daring with my makeup and crack it open almost instantly to use it 🙂

Givenchy is now turning upwards for me after seeing the fantastic images on kiss and makeup!

I look forward to those images 🙂

Sephora is quick getting lower ends into stock but higher end they are way way way slow 🙁

I have to consider the becca as well but maybe after the holidays…

I look forward to a new shimmering powder and haven’t given up hope yet 🙂

Lord knows they all want to kill us now sigh. I haven’t been to Europe in a year and some months and things have changed considerably in that time so honestly lord knows when I’ll make it back with the economy in shambles!

Benefit always comes out with a few hits..and a big miss..so I expect a miss soon 🙂 ie that plum mascara!

Sorry about your skin..my eyes are still puffy as ever but aside from that my skin is thankfully calm and always blemish free. I like bb creams but there are too many misses in the bb world and too few hits..currently my favorite is EH magic bb..very nice stuff 🙂

I think you’re right but I still may indulge early, can’t live without a lambie blanket lol!

It’s been warm here too the past week but the week before very very chilly so flannel sheets it was 🙂

I’m somewhat surprised you work in a field where they worry about cams..but I guess I can understand it!

I have not..I’ve always been interesting in picking up honey cake but never did..and it’s quite cheap too…just never got around too it for some reason!

I alternative soup way too much lol! I rotate 20 soups at a time 🙂

Fantastic! I’m very excited to hear how much they raised that’s brilliant!

why are your riding lessons on hiatus?

LOL 🙂 I’m not much of a coffee drinker but twice a month I indulge in a godiva caramel chocolate elixir 🙂 It’s terribly bad and wicked sinful 🙂 it motivates me for the day lol!

We don’t have a caribou I know of?! I love Starbucks but mostly I go for Vanilla Fraps since I’m not big on coffee 🙂

Have a WONDERFUL weekend! I can’t wait for mine to begin!

hug hug hug love love love!

  • Rowena

    Hey Musey!

You know I bought the top quad and once I got home the girl had given me the pinky-blue one and I was so busy I never went back to change it. I sorta wish I had now 🙁 The shadows are lovely though although the make over I had on the counter was AWFUL!

  • the Muse

    rows!

    missed ya honey!

oh no! go back, return it, the pink and blue is lovely but I simply adore the darker shade 🙂

Ugh sorry to hear that..I never had a make over at the clarins counter..the ma’s scare me lol!
