What is it?
A super inexpensive long wearing lip color with a semi-matte finish in a creamy formula.
The Good…..
Not much of a Wet n Wild fan girl here but I’ll bite the bullet and say wow on this one. The formula is a creamy, long wearing lipstick with a rich color pay off that glides on lips leaving behind incredibly velvety color. I picked one of these up on a pure whim because I was looking for new beauty budget bits and bobs to review. It set me back $3.69 which for drugstore lipstick is incredibly cheap.
It deserves to be mentioned I’m really not a matte fan. Be it eyeshadow or lipstick, matte, for me, is NOT where it’s at. I simply can’t stand the formula of a matte lipstick as it’s normally very dry and difficult to apply plus it makes my lips look good for all of five minutes before it begins to migrate around and end up everywhere on my face but my mouth.
Now….Wet n’ Wild Mega Last Lip Color does have a great creamy formula that applies effortlessly. No problems with application here and leaves behind a seriously pigmented pout plus the semi-matte formula looks very elegant in some ways.
The Bad….
As I said I can’t work matte lipstick but this isn’t too bad on, it looks rather nice particularly when paired up with a heavily lined cat eye. However….formula pretty much falls right into my normal experiences with matte lipstick. The lipstick wears well for perhaps an hour but it begins migrating around my mouth rather quickly so I’m sporting lipstick on my upper lip line, on my chin, etc….not pretty put it that way. On top of the moving adventures around my mouth it also dries my lips out in a major way which makes it look rather gross. I’m sure you’re quite familiar with how dried, caked on lipstick looks but if not think of weird pilling action going on that looks like your lips are peeling. Gross!
Who Might Like It?
- Anyone who knows HOW to sport matte lipstick.
- Anyone who LOVES matte lipstick!
- Anyone looking for an affordable matte lipstick option.
Who Might Not Like It?
- Anyone with fine lines, wrinkles, etc…as this won’t look pretty on a less than smooth lip.
- Anyone who can’t work the matte look and has a difficult time doing so.
Final Thoughts…
Honestly, it’s a damn nice lipstick for its price range however I personally can’t work it correctly. I dunno if I’m too chatty, or if I’m biting, licking my lips a little too much…but by the end of the first hour I look like a hot mess. The lipstick migrates badly on me since I’m not a lip liner girl plus I’m just too much of a nibbler to have this stick around long enough. I imagine if you know how to work the matte look already this might be a great lipstick but for folks like me, best to avoid.
