MAC Haute & Naughty Lash features a dual wiper system that lets you control the amount of mascara you wish to use.
Who knew MAC had it in them to create a great mascara? Haute & Naughty may prove to you that MAC still can create a solid mascara without screwing up. Myself and many a MAC fan will agree that they excel at alot of makeup creations but mmmm mascara just isn’t one of ’em.
MAC Haute & Naughty being the exception to the rule (and Opulash).
So how the hell does it work?
I was confused at my first glance when I seen it a few months ago but here’s the deets.
It doesn’t dial and you aren’t getting two wands.
What you do get is a tube of mascara with one single wand and an interesting tube mechanism that removes excess mascara. The topper has a pink outer tube and a purple inner tube. Unscrew the pink and remove the wand for defining and separating lashes or unscrew the purple one for more volume and drama. Basically the wand consists of a larger inner tube which removes excess as the brush goes through it.
I have no idea if I explained that right but see the photos and you’ll get the point.
Does it work?
Hells to the yes.
For application I start off by using the purple, dramatic topper and proceed to follow up by using the pink topper (which removes excess mascara off the brush) and brushing through my lashes. Using the brush with more mascara on it can create a gooey, icky, clumpy mess so I recommend brushing through when the excess is removed to get the best results. The brush is large and bushy and manages to pull lashes up and out giving a nice fringe of longer, plumper, curlier lashes. It keeps curl quite nicely considering the formula is light weight. It also builds up well (MAC is one of the few brands that make great buidable mascaras, that much I will say!) but I do suggest combing through with the brush when it has a hell of alot less product on it.
Using the brush with alot of mascara on it causes clumping and a mess but combing through with the excess removed is the best solution!
- Anyone who wants LONG, fat, lashes.
- Anyone who wants a formula that holds curl well without weighting lashes well.
- Anyone who wants a mascara that builds up well.
- Impatient types (you have to take a little time out to get this on right or you will end up with a mess).
I liked this one ALOT and I think it’s worth a pick up. It creates dramatic lashes and is ideal for smoky eye looks since the formula is such a pigmented black. It keeps curl really well without smudging or flaking off. Asian lashes may feel it’s a bit TOO much or anyone with smaller lashes because the formula can cause a bit of a mess but if you already have longer lashes this will just add incredible lenght and volume.
Quite nice.
Well done MAC!
