Smashbox Masquerade Lip Enhancing Gloss Disguise Review, Photos, Swatches: Smashbox Masquerade Fall Collection 2010 Review

Smashbox Masquerade Fall Collection 2010 will be launching shortly yay! Today I’ll give you a little sneaky peek of some of the offerings.

Sound good?

Jump!

First up the Smashbox Masquerade Lip Enhancing Gloss in Disguise! A gorgeous golden pink lipgloss!

This is a gorgeous shade of golden pink kinda rose spiked with golden sparkle, really pretty. I like the color so much that I’ll be indulging in the other shade released with the collection, Golden Nude, as soon as it launches.

The gloss isn’t terribly pigmented but it has enough color to enhance the shade of your own lip color and add a little something extra special. I tend to run into issues with sponge applicators with Smashbox but this is fine and saturates well with product.

Formula is a tad dry but this is the norm for Smashbox glosses in my opinion so extra building up is required to get a nice shiny finish. It’s not traditionally glossy nor is it incredibly shiny but it does look very nice on lips.

  • Anyone who likes a gloss that makes their natural lips look fuller and prettier but without a ton of pigment or a tacky, sticky feel.
  • Anyone who doesn’t mind a drier less than hydrating formula.
  • Anyone who likes a subtle hint of sparkle in their gloss!

  • Anyone who wants incredible shine and a super glossy finish (this sadly won’t do the trick).

I liked the color alot and don’t mind the drier formula so much since the gloss builds up well on lips. I will indulge in the second shade as I think it’s one of the more flattering glosses that Smashbox has released in a while (Heartbreaker being the other glosses that rocked my socks). It’s not a terribly special lipgloss but I’m makeup junkie enough to likey it.

Available in August from www.smashbox.com

I’m hoping it’s a dupe for UD’s Burn Out Lip Gunk. That was one of my favorite colors and except for a now retired Maybelline lip gloss, I’ve never been able to find another copy.

Good luck finding a pic, because I know I’ve looked online for one. I have an ancient swatch from their site that is so teeny, you can barely see the color. Back then, they described it as an “iridescent golden rose”.

Man, I love a lot of UD’s new stuff, but I really wish they’d at least bring back some of the old colors in new forms, if not the old products in the old colors.
