Covergirl NatureLuxe Silk Foundation Review, Swatches, Photos
The Covergirl NatureLuxe Collection should be winging its way to your local drugstore if it isn’t already there (chances it is as I’ve seen displays up everywhere). This is Covergirl’s big launch for the new year featuring Taylor Swift as their spokeswoman.
The NatureLuxe Collection is a higher end product with a more luxurious formula that can found at local drugstores. Honestly, when they said luxury makeup I was a bit wary of the price but turns out the Natureluxe Silk Foundation is merely $11.99 so yes a bit higher than the norm but not by much and still very fitting for the budget beauty shopper.
The collection is not an organic line of product it does however rely on quality ingredients that are inspired by a more green friendly makeup.
What did I think of the new Covergirl Natureluxe Silk Foundation?
Check it out!
A cream foundation that exchanges heavy emoillents for a touch of cucumber water which makes the formula lighter and more luxurious feeling.
For the formula Covergirl combined light ingredients and avoided heavier synthetics to create a lightweight foundation and lightweight it is. If you generally like cream foundations or if you have dry skin and prefer a cream or liquid, Natureluxe Silk Foundation is for you. It’s actually one of the very few foundations at drugstores that I actually deem worthy of a purchase. The formula is gorgeous! It runs a bit thin for a cream foundation but it isn’t dubbed as such anyway, Covergirl calls it a “liquid” which I wouldn’t really say it is. I’d say you’re looking at a cross between a cream and a liquid as the formula runs a bit thinner than the average cream and a bit thicker than a liquid so you’re right smack in the middle with this.
It has a crisp, fresh cucumber scent which is quite pleasant to my nose. Sadly, in terms of coverage I wouldn’t call it full. It perfects more than it covers in my opinion. If you already have good skin that needs foundation as a form of a base, a pick me up, or something to ease dullness, this is ideal as a simple dab or two will create a smooth, flawless finish that perfects and evens out skin tone. It absorbs into the skin rather quickly which is one reason I don’t feel it offers full coverage it does not however oxidize nor does it leave behind a gray, ashy dullness when worn for too long. The coverage remains fairly fresh and beautiful throughout the day with a possible touch up at or around the 5th hour of wear or even longer if you set correctly.
I normally use BB Creams as my foundation of choice because they don’t oxidize on me and I can happily say that this worked just as well!
Sadly, I got a shade that was a bit too light for me but I still managed to make it work (Shade 305). It comes in 14 shades however I haven’t full explored but according to readers most of the shades range in the fairer zone.
It does have SPF 10 but I can’t help but wish for a bit of a higher SPF however I imagine a higher content would cause issues with the lovely formula.
It feels a tiny bit greasy at first application but quickly absorbs and leaves behind a silky, natural feel.
I have dry skin and I’m unsure how well it’ll work for those with oily skin as liquids and creams are sometimes a no for those with such a skin type.
- Liquid or cream foundation users (if you favor creams, you’ll love this as it really has a brilliantly soft, hydrating finish).
- Dry skin types (if your skin is dry this absorbs beautifully and leaves behind a very natural, soft focused finish).
- Those seeking quality at a fraction of the cost (the $11.99 price tag isn’t too bad a splurge when you have this much quality to back it).
- Anyone seeking to perfect an already good complexion (this evens out skin and eases dullness creating a good working canvas for makeup).
- Those seeking an oil free, paraben free formula!
- Oily skin types (you might not find the joy if your skin is oily however the formula feels light enough to not clog pores but don’t quote me).
- Anyone hoping for a BB Cream dupe found at a US drugstore (I cannot compare this to a bb cream nor will I however it can be liked to a tinted moisturizer with a bit more pigment).
- Those seeking full coverage (the formula absorbs a tad too quickly for full coverage plus it isn’t quite that pigmented to offer full coverage it does however perfect skin beautifully and creates a flawless finish).
Well, I’d buy it again. Count me impressed. I really like the formula on this and just the overall feel of the product. I felt like it really perfected my face and eased dullness creating a beautiful canvas for my makeup. It has a few quirks but not enough to ruin the overall product. I felt the price tag was perfectly suited and for those that might find it a bit too high for drugstore makeup, you know you’ll always find some sale or another to get it at a lower cost.
Covergirl has a done a major launch with NatureLuxe and I was a bit scared it wouldn’t live up to that hype however it actually does and I’m pretty pleased overall. I don’t like my coverage too heavy and I like something that will make my skin look even, flawless, fresh, and natural and NatureLuxe Silk Foundation does the job and does it well.
Bravo Covergirl, you got it right.
