MAC Guilty Passions Warm Crushed Metallic Pigments Review & Swatches
MAC Guilty Passions Warm Crushed Metallic Pigments is one of several gift sets MAC put together for Holiday 2012.
There are actually three Crushed Metallic Sets to choose from in this collection and that’s either to your excitement or your disappointment if you’d rather pigment vials versus the newer Crushed Metallic Formula.
Let’s take a look!
I’m a little immune to packaging lately and not easily as excited as I once was. Perhaps makeup comes and goes a little too quickly for me and I’m running on burn out mode but it is rare I get super excited about packaging.
But I have to say I squealed when I saw MAC was putting their Guilty Pleasure Sets in these cute little ribbon topped powder boxes. I want to haul all the sets just so I can have more of these cute little boxes! They remind me of a miniature vintage hat box! One of the best things about them is the fact you can easily remove the swag inside and reuse the box as a powder box. Add your own powder puff and dump some of your favorite body (or face) powder inside! Instant powder jar! So, so, so sweet! And you don’t have to feel guilty about removing the pigments either as they are stackable!
I’m delighted I was able to get my hands on the warmer selection of Crushed Metallic Pigments since I can’t do bolder shades much anymore.
This collection features:
- Silky Stocking (golden beige)
- Darling Coquette (soft frosty beige)
- Ever Elegant (copper brownish frost)
- Rose Light (true rose with copper sparkle)

I can understand those disappointed with MAC’s lack of piggie sets the last few Holidays past. Crushed Metallic Pigments aren’t exactly the easiest medium to work nor are pigments for that matter as these are considerably messier.
I actually have a love/hate relationship with them. They are so richly pigmented and terribly gorgeous but I dislike the fall out that comes along with application. I’m also not a very big fan of how frosty they look on my eyes. It’s rare a shade isn’t frosty or overly sparkly…! Can’t believe I said that but it is true. They are a lot less refined than pigments as well with a chunky, flakier formula. Sometimes its best to take a pinch, dump it in the palm of your hand, and run your finger around it to soften it up and smooth out the clumps. Use that same finger to rub across your lid because using a brush proves challenging with the amount of fall out that ends up everywhere. Sponge applicators are also excellent for application.
Overall, I really do think MAC did an excellent job with this set. The colors are very pretty, the packaging gorgeous, and you’ll probably be able to create a good deal of Holiday with these shades. Ever Elegant is one to want for sure! On the downside application is messy and I also felt like the shades weren’t THAT warm and neutral…!
The Guilty Passions Gift Sets launch November 8th online at maccosmetics.com and in store.
