Too Faced Glamour to Go Spun Sugar Edition Review & Swatches

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

Too Faced Glamour to Go Palette is back with a new Spun Sugar Edition for Holiday 2012. This light on the wallet $22 dollar palette features eight Too Faced Eyeshadows, a highlighter, a bronzer, a lipgloss, and a mirror all in one small palette making it travel and stocking stuffer friendly.

Take a look!

This year Too Faced’s Holiday 2012 Collection is inspired by decadent Parisian desserts and pastry shops. The Too Faced Glamour to Go Spun Sugar Edition has a dash of sugar, a dash of spice, and all things nice for your face, cheeks, and lips an an array of holiday metallic shades.

The brushed gold mirror palette is about the size of a credit card and houses two tiers of makeup. The first tier features eight eyeshadows in a variety of holiday golds and smoky shades for a more traditional holiday look! The second pull out drawer features a highlighter, gloss, and bronzer. I like that the palette is divided into two separate looks one for a warmer, natural look and the other for a smoky evening look. Unlike years past, this doesn’t contain bolder shades of color, Too Faced went with more traditional shades that you can get daily use of easily.

The shades aren’t Too Faced’s typical formula as they run far less velvety and more like a loosely packed pigment. They have a flakier texture which applies easily but does show some signs of fall out during application. The darker shades don’t face the same issue as they are fairly dense with more of a velvety texture. There is a good deal of sparkle and shimmer in the lighter shades that reflects very pretty on eyes but if not blended correctly can look frosty so take proper care during application to avoid this. All the colors produce fair to full pigmentation with the lighter shades being the sheerest.

The highlighter included is like a beefed up version of Candlelight. This is a golden pink with flecks of gold sparkle. It has to applied very sparely to avoid a discoball finish but when applied correctly if gives skin a soft glow. Very pretty!

Unfortunately, the gloss included is in the middle of the bronzer and highlight so it does create a bit of a mess with powders and creams in one location. I suggest putting the small plastic film that covers the eyeshadows over the gloss when not in use to avoid powder mixing in with it.

This year’s Too Faced Glamour to Go Palette is definitely a little different than years past. Being a lover of sparkle and shimmer I really liked it but I think a few folks might be disappointed as the lighter shades run sheerer and the palette lacks any vibrant, bolder shades of color.

If you can get past all that it’s an excellent little deal at $22 and will make a nice stocking stuffer, secret santa gift, or go on now you want it for yourself dontcha?

It’s available now at Sephora, Sephora.com or toofaced.com

That could be a nice purse palette because I think the colors work for both warm and cool looks. Don’t love that gloss but whatever, I don’t go ANYWHERE without multiple lippies.

Ugh, this looks a little disappointing! I’m on the hunt for the perfect beauty gift for my not-as-savvy best friend before I move so she may not feel as lost without me in Sephora. 🙁

nice and compact liked the bronzer and highlighter, more neutral shades for me but is a righ combi for those who like smokey for the night

What a cute package! $22 is a cute price too (: I won’t be picking it up, but it looks like a nice set.

Hmmm. I really do like the colors but there has been so many great palettes this year that i have bought naked 1&2 and recently lorac unzipped and pro that i cant justify buying anything less then amazing. I am however obsessed with finding the next amazing palette and search sephora online and this blog dailey. I get so sad when i do not see you in my inbox muse… I need my dailey muse fix….lol

I think I will pick this up, I’m a lover of all things Too Faced,I can’t wait to see all the other holiday palettes and stuff in person, I’m going to go nuts this year! haha 😉 Thank you for the swatches

my pleasure nancy! it’s a gorgeous collection very worth exploring!

These DO NOT travel well at all!!!! I have the Dream Edition and it dropped once, the outside pan that holds the blush, gloss and bronzer all together fell out but it went back in fine, still held together just fine. But somehow the little drawer won’t “click” shut and stay shut, something got broken when I was traveling with it. Great palette though.

aw sorry danii…anything dropped will def break in the makeup world unfortunately but they do travel well in the fact they are lightweight, fit in a makeup bag, and don’t flip open when jostled around in a purse or tote. so def feel like it is travel friendly in that aspect 🙂

I picked up the little black palette they had at Ulta and really like it. I think I can pass on this one but I’m really not sure. LOL Too Faced is really getting some love from me these days.

I LOVE the packaging, but the colors don’t speak to me! For a pastries-themed palette (make me think of the Laduree line!), I’d imagine soft, sweet pinks and greens and browns, like macarons!
Also, like you noted in your review, I’ve found the Too Faced Glamour to Go line suffers from quality issues… they’re just not up to par with their full-sized offerings, which are normally fab.

It’s so pretty! Wouldn’t be getting it though, last year I got the Dream Edition but ended up returning it a week after because I was disappointed in the formula. 🙁

It’s so cute and $22 is deinitely a steal. I was thinking it’d be a great emergency makeup palette it to keep in my purse…Usually, lack of pigmentation would be a dealbreaker for me, but if it’s just for touchups/on the go makeup, then it actually would probably work out okay.

Nice palette, I just hate it when a palette contains powders and creams, it always gets messy. I would prefer just a palette with only powders.

I got this Saturday, and while I don’t like that the color payoff isn’t great on the lighter colors, they really are beautiful on. I wish the palette had a couple of small applicators included, though, as I don’t like to apply lip color with my finger and lip brushes tend to get messy in a makeup bag.

I always love the packaging and presentation of Too Faced products and this one is so lovely. But the colors just don’t seem my type. Too earthy for me. I’m more of a pastel and pinks kinda girl.
