Tarte Treat Yourself to Gorgeous Collection Review & Swatches
The Tarte Treat Yourself to Gorgeous Collection for Holiday 2012 is the QVC Today’s Special Value of the Day. I told you about this collection a few weeks ago and I’m sure many of you have been very eager to get your hands on it or maybe you already have!
The Holidays are all about generosity and Tarte has been more than generous with their Holiday 2012 offerings. The Treat Yourself to Gorgeous Collection is another display of that generosity as it’s a mere $49.98.
Take a look!
Tarte Treat Yourself to Gorgeous 28 Piece Holiday Collection features twenty Amazonian Clay Eye Shadows, four Cashmere Waterproof Gliding Liners and four Maracuja Divine Shine Lipglosses. All of the contents are full size.
The collection comes in stack-able magnetic boxes which easily break apart allowing you to create three gifts from one or if you’re generous gift the entire set to a friend, family member, or yourself *wink wink nudge nudge*!
The first palette slides open on both sides to several twenty shadows which are 0.06 oz each. These are the typical Tarte formulation. I find these shades soft and silky with an easy to blend formula. You get a mix of sparkle, satin, and matte shades so there’s a little taste of everything in here no matter the finish you favor. Tarte’s Eyeshadows run on the sheerer side however, I find that a sponge applicator really builds them up for the best color pay off. You may also wish to try them slightly damp for a bolder effect. I personally like these shadows a lot but some don’t care for the formula. They aren’t comparable to the likes of Urban Decay or MAC in terms of pigmentation and the density. They have a lighter feel with a silkier formula and a sheerer finish. If you have aging eyes you’re sure to appreciate the formula or if you’re new to applying eyeshadow and want less bold, intimidating shades this is a nice range of colors to try out.

You’ll also get four full size Tarte Cashmere Waterproof Gliding Liners (0.01 oz). Cashmere is newly named but I feel like they are on par with Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Waterproof Eyeliner. These are creamy and buttery with an easy glide across the lash line. I live for eyeliners with a texture like this. The color wears quite strong on my drier eyes however, they seem to fade rather quickly on my waterline depending which shade I use. I noticed the black wore the longest on my waterline where as others seem to fade within a four hour period. For my upper lash line I experience all day wear without a hiccup!

And finally you get four Maracuja Divine Shine Lip Glosses (0.11 oz). These come in a click pen with a brush applicator a la Stila Lipglaze. Each gloss has a refreshing peppermint flavor and provides sheer to medium color pay off depending on the shade. These four shades actually have excellent color pay off and result in a nearly opaque finish so the color in the tube comes across very true on lips. These have a thicker texture with a high glossy finish. They do have a considerably amount of tackiness and stick which allows them to wear long. However, if you don’t like thicker glosses you might not enjoy these.
Shades:
- Darling (a soft pink shade)
- Brazen (bright rose)
- Genuine (sheer, creamy pinky)
- Giddy (soft coral pink)

Both the eyeliners and glosses come in their own gift box each of which has a magnet inside of it so they’ll stay on top of the palette for easy storage. Traveling with the entire set might be a bit clumsy as it is large but the stack-able option is handy for storage purposes. The fact that the glosses, the liners, and the shadows all come in their own individual boxes makes it very easy to break the set up and create three gifts from it. The set also includes a get the look guide for creating two looks using the products included in the set.
Overall, it’s a fabulous bargain. Although some shades are a similiar to ones found in the Carried Away Palette there aren’t any exact dupes so you can safely order this without feeling guilty about doubling up on colors. There seems to be a wider array of warmer shades in this palette and I actually like the colors more than the ones in the Carried Away Palette. The colors are considerably less pastel-like than the ones in the Big Thrill Palette. If you generally enjoy Tarte’s eyeshadow formulation you’ll likely love this however, if you feel like their shadows are a little sheer for your taste or powdery you might not enjoy the overall collection. I personally really like Tarte’s Eyeshadows as you always get a mix of formulas with them. Some are velvety, some are shimmery, some very smooth and silky…even the mattes are always a pleasure to apply.
