The Body Shop Cranberry Joy Lip Balm Holiday 2012 Review

The Body Shop Cranberry Joy Lip Balm is one of three limited edition lip balms that launched for Holiday 2012. I already reviewed the Ginger Sparkle Lip Balm which I truly enjoyed!

Cranberry Joy is just as lovely.

Take a look!

These little balms are similiar to EOS Lip Balms as they come in a similarly shaped dome. They retail for six dollars each but I got them during one of the 50% Off Sales that the Body Shop has been having for the Holiday so that knocked it down to a very budget friendly $3 bucks!

The balms are quite tiny, a little bigger than a quarter I’d say so they are a nice size for travel or stowing away on your night table or desk drawer.

Cranberry Joy is a solid bright, warmer red. It doesn’t have larger specks of shimmer in it like Ginger Sparkle but it does have smaller, more refined ones. This shimmer doesn’t really come across on lips unfortunately. I was a little disappointed the red doesn’t really translate to lips. The balm applies transparently even when built up. The flavor is a fruity cranberry that’s quite pleasant. It’s not an artificial or a plastic-y flavor, it actually tastes quite like fresh cranberries just sweeter!

The dome shape allows you to easily swipe the balm on. The finish has a balm-y, heavier texture that’s comparable to using a Chapstick. It adds some moisture but not the type of moisture that gives lips a glossy look! It is a balm after all. It softens lips nicely but isn’t incredibly hydrating.

Overall, I’m kinda digging on these little Holiday Lip Balms! They really are quite cute stocking stuffers!

Cranberry Joy Lip Balm is available for a limited time at the Body Shop or online at

Have you hauled any of these balms?

    Swatches please?

    • 11/29/12 10:46 the Muse:

there’s nothing to swatch jess…did you read where I said it applies transparent? :)

      • 11/29/12 11:20 Jess:

Completely transparent? No tint at all? :(

        • 11/29/12 11:21 the Muse:

yup…swiped it across my arm and nothing shows up same for my lips. the reader above said she got a little bit of tint to it but sadly I didn’t get anything.

I got the cranberry one, and I thought it looked so perfect, a shiny, sparkly berry/red. But on my lips, there is no sparkle, and it shows as a soft(as you said, transperant) berry/red, much like the Fresh Sugar Rose looks on my lips. I still like it, it gives a soft, not over-powering holiday color to lips, which I love, even if no sparklies show! I just wish is was a softer consistancy, more moisturizing.

ugh heather you’re lucky it looks as nice as fresh sugar rose! I barely get a tint from it. It’s just completely clear on my lips boo! I still love it though ;-D Mmmm yeah, perhaps a little balmer…It kinda feels chap-sticky to me. After wearing it a few hours it does soften lips nicely though!

I have got both of this and ginger sparkle. So sad that they are sold at 79HKD (~10USD) in HK and TBS here will never ever offer BOGO :( I got mine with 20% or 30% off during their sale. This is HK :(((((((

Anyway, this is just a OK lip balm for me. Quite moisturizing and not too greasy. I super super love the scent. Every xmas I will stock up some cranberry scent stuff for TBS

I have to say I am not a big Body Shop fan, but after reading the vanilla review I thought I’d go check them out. They were sold out here except for one last Cranberry one in a gift pack. I ended up buying the set and do not regret it. Lip balm and hand cream stay on my desk and are used every day. I love how the dome like shape makes the balm easy to apply (usually with chap sticks I end up getting too much on). Mine gives off a warm pinkish, sparkling finish. Nothing dramatic but very pretty for day time. Wish I had the other two as well!
