Ciate Chalkboard Manicure for Summer 2013

Ciate Chalkboard Manicure Set

The new Ciate Chalkboard Manicure brings back memories of chalkboards and chalk from school. Eating chalk (yeah, recently a reader confessed to me she ate chalk! What?!), scratching your finger nails against the chalkboard, slapping together too erasers to create puffs of smoke, drawing on the chalkboard, writing I will not eat chalk on said chalkboard….ha…

No seriously, though chalkboards bring back all sorts of childhood memories. I think at some point they’ll become obsolete and kids won’t experience the joy of a good old fashion chalkboard, chalk, and an eraser. Ipads will replace them I imagine or some sort of digital board. Heck it’s already starting to happen.

Ciate’s new Chalkboard Manicure brings back all the joys of that age old chalkboard with their new manicure set.

Ciate is legendary for creating really funky manicure sets and the new Chalkboard Manicure is their newest unique innovation. This kit turns your nails into a chalkboard-style sound board. Black matte polish adds a sophisticated edge to nails while a chalk pen in the color of your choosing allows you to draw on your nails. The chalk pens are formulated as water-soluble so you can easily wash away your design and start again or use the Mattnificent Top Coat (included with the set) to coat your design and seal it!

The set includes four brightly colored chalk pens, a top coat, and the special Chalkboard Paint Pot.

Too cool for school is an understatement here as I’m completely smitten with the idea behind this set.

Wonder if it works?

It’s available now at Sephora and Sephora.com

This seems so perfect for summer and yet so strange for summer! Ciate always is such a leader in trends – I’m excited to see who comes out with a similar line for a little less money.

It seems as if schools are going the way of huge whiteboards & dry-erase markers… In a way, this is a better way to go (brighter background, easier to discern different colors, less sneezing, LOL), but they just seem a bit “sterile” to me. However, it does mean no scratching the chalkboard, which was a huuuge pet-peeve of mine as a kid.

Ciate do always come up with great ideas, sadly in reality it’s pretty much useless, it chips so badly and quickly, even with a top coat.

I LOVE this idea! I wonder if it could be created with a regular matte black and bright polishes without forking up the money for this kit. It would be fun to test!
