Wet n Wild Megalast Liquid Lip Color Review & Swatches

Wet n Wild Megalast Liquid Lip Color has gotten it’s round of blogsphere reviews and I have to say some of those surprised me. After reading them I left the scene feeling like I hadn’t tried the same product as some of these reviewers had. Wet n Wild Megalast Liquid Lip Color is just a hot mess of a product that I really didn’t love.

Wet n Wild Megalast Liquid Lip Color

Take a look!

Wet n Wild Megalast Liquid Lip Color Lipstick

Wet n Wild Megalast Liquid Lip Color come in a wide array of luxuriously pigmented reds, berries, pinks, and mauves. This is fact their biggest draw! The pigment is incredible here. Colors are intense and offer full color on lips with a single stroke. It doesn’t really surprise me as Wet n Wild doesn’t skimp on pigment when it comes to some of their products however, these truly go above and beyond the call of duty. At first glance I thought how many of the shades and just the formula in general could possibly be some sort of dupe for Chanel Dragon Rouge Allure Laque and at merely $3 bucks each.

But take that off the table because aside from the pigmentation I personally dislike the formula in a major way.

These are truly a strong wearing once they set so you will need some sort of makeup remover to get them off and even than they leave behind a staining effect. I’d say they would be able to last you at least eight hours. I say “would” because I’m unsure who could honestly get through that long a wear with them. They have a thicker consistency and apply easily enough. They set within a minute of application and after that they do not migrate, feather, or move. The problem is once they set they tighten on lips and they feel god awful drying. Seriously they suck all moisture from my lips and leave behind a rather matte, uncomfortable lipstick that feels tight and heavy on my mouth. As the wear progresses they do crack a bit which isn’t a pleasant look. They do not transfer though….

If you can get past the dryness you MIGHT like how gorgeous they look on lips. They truly are a very beautiful full coverage lip product. I personally cannot cope with the dryness and I feel like they are suffocating my mouth once they set. I’ve read a variety of reviews that recommend a balm under them, etc…etc…etc..but I’ve tried a few application methods and all result in a very tight, matte, soul sucking dryness that just wasn’t comfortable to me.

Do not like.

Ace on the pigment Wet n Wild and good job on the long wear but the formula has a long way to being lightweight and comfortable to wear!

Tried ’em?

I bought Raisin the roof, but it is way too shimmery for me.
The dryness doesn’t bother me much, because I wear almost entirely matte lips but seriously so glittery.
Want to try to High pitch wine though!

  • Ilinca Milosan

That’s a shame about the dryness.. the swatches look so beautiful! 🙁

  • Cindy Ramirez

These remind me a lot of the Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquers! For 3 bucks and super pigmentation I’m willing to work with the dryness.

  • Joey Kitty

These are not designed for human beings. I use them as body tattoo pens, this is how strong they are.

  • Carly

My review of these from months back reads exactly the same! I can’t stand these things! 🙁 It honestly perplexes me when people say they like them. That gummy, drying, heavy formula is a total deal breaker.

  • Debbie

I’ve seen these at my local Rite-Aid & almost bought a couple,,,but for some reason I couldn’t bring myself to purchase them. These very pretty colors were drawing me in. But I’ll bet I must have picked them up & placed them back down 3-4 times while I was deciding. Now I realize you must of been in my head saying “NO,,,MUSE NOT APPROVED!” LOL. Thank you for this review and for saving me(& my dry lips)from a buyers regret. 😀

I had the same experience with them! I had picked up a lovely pink and was excited to try it. It went on with a lot of color and sparkle, but OMG, the dryness after a few seconds was horrible! I had a light covering of eos balm on underneath, but even with that this product made my lips feel so tight and flaky – and it didn’t just feel that way, they looked it too! And talk about cement; even makeup remover had trouble getting it off. I ended my five minute experiment with glitter all over lower face from trying to remove it and seriously happy I hadn’t purchased more. I immediately threw it in the trash. For just a couple dollars more there are so many other drug store brands that beat this. The Rimmel glosses are a good example, which come in a similiar tube, similiar colors (albeit more sheer), but a far superior formula.

rebs people kept suggesting I use a balm under it and that totally didn’t help! So glad someone experienced the same with a balm! Agreed! I really had to rub to remove it.

  • DivaShop

Hmm, that’s good to know. I don’t like drying lip products either. I have enough trouble with dryness w/o a product adding to it. They sure look pretty though! It’s a shame the formula isn’t better.

  • Kimmwc03

I hated the one I got as well and was shocked by all the positive reviews. At least the Muse is honest.

    • the Muse

ditto have read SO many glowing reviews! maybe i am doing something wrong 😀

  • Tigress

I have Cherry on Top and I agree about the dryness. It feels like dried mud on your lips. Pretty color, but really uncomfortable.

  • Lulle

Same feeling here. I bought Pocketful of Roses a few months ago and used it… once.
It felt so uncomfortable the first and only time I tried it that I gave up. I hate to throw away brand new makeup that I paid with my hard earned money, but I think that’s what’s gonna happen eventually!

  • Kathleen

Oh, I tried one. So thick and awful–so I tried dabbing it on with my finger to thin it out. Not any better! So dry–did not like!

  • Abryda

Omg Muse I am so glad that other people have experienced the same awful experience, never in my life have I put something on my lips that just sucked up all the moisture, crinkled up my lips like an alien & then I thought I was going to die seriously because for the life of me I could not get it off of my lips with every single remover I had!!!!! I must have ranted about those glosses for a week on Instagram I despised them so much. LOL!!!

    • the Muse

LOL same problem here…I really had a difficult time removing it and I kinda gotta nervous as it left my lips really stained after I removed so I was worried I’d have stained lips until it completely faded 🙁 I used cleansing oil, makeup remover, and some regular hand cream rubbed gently on my lips to get it all off. was redunkculousness! LOL! glad someone agrees as all the blog reviews I read rave them so hard!

  • Meg

See these were weird for me, because I ended up liking the mattes but hating the shimmery ones. The super bright pink matte one is my fave, but I can’t wear it matte because of the awful drying feeling so I always put a balm under it and a gloss over it lol

  • Olivia

At first I did not like them at all. I could not get them off and they dried out my lips but I gave them a second chance and I think they are pretty nice.

  • Nancy

HATE how they feel like tacky glue on the lips, if they changed the formulation of them i’d love em cause they have great color and the packaging is alright but I could not get passed that ugly feel.

  • heather

these were one of my biggest makeup disappointments ever! the colors & pigmentation are excellent but my lips literally stuck together like glue after i put it on. then it took ten minutes of tugging and rubbing to try and get it off. thankfully i purchased at rite aid which has a great hassle-free return policy.

  • Kristin

Oh these are just…horrible. I’ve never had a lipgloss do this! I also liked how the color showed up on my lips, even liked the matte finish because of the color I purchased (cherry on top) BUT after it dried…no. It looked like I hadn’t had water in days! Lol but not only that, after scrubbing and scrubbing to get it off (my lips should be good and exfoliated now), it also left a RED RING around my lips that took FOREVER to get off. Needless to say it went back, even if it was just $3. I can’t.

  • Christine Joy Luikuo

I had seen this in the mall a month ago. The color selections were gorgeous and I was almost tempted to buy one but good thing I didn’t buy it. It could’ve been a great regret if I did. *sigh of relief*

  • Amanda

I literally watched my lips go thin and wrinkly when I tried one of these. I like matte lips and I don’t usually have a problem with long wearing products. This lipcolor was horrible!

  • Qiqi

I liked that bright pink fuchsia color when i saw it in walgreen. But same as you, it is so dry. I have to give it up..so sad …T.T

  • Alexis Payne

I love the colors in this line, but the formula is awful! Clumpy and cracks and flakes off. Very disappointing!

  • MnM

I should check your site before purchased it. Moisture of my soft lips was sucked out and it turned dry and cracked immediately I put it on!

  • Emily Marie

I’ve seen all the bad reviews and I still bought this product. It was very pigmented and after it settled it cracked and was flaky. So every now and then I would pull it out and try different ways to use this product as in moisturizing my lips first and nothing worked. So here’s what I did and I’m super glad I did!!!!! I MELTED EXTRA VIRGIN COCONUT OIL ON A SPOON, I PUT 3 DROPS OF IT IN THE ACUTUAL LIQUID TUBE. I SHOOK IT AROUND FOR 30 SECONDS OR SO AND IT WORKED!! It’s not 100% flawless but it is 100% better!

  • Terra Milroy

If you apply a thicker formula chapstick (I use a blistex medicated balm) and let that sit for a minute or two and it will take most of it right off. You will probably have a few patches left here and there just reapply and wipe it away.

So, I picked up this super cute color last night of the Wet N Wild Megalast Liquid Lip Color. Got to work and decided to try it out and see how the color looked. OMG, I now have plaster on my lips and cannot get it off!! It went into trash the second I couldn’t wipe it off!! It is still on my lips and is a fright!! Send help.
