Tarte Away Oui Go Portable Palette

The Tarte Away Oui Go Portable Palette & Collector’s Set ($48) is a new limited edition, Ulta exclusive Tarte Holiday 2014 Gift Set featuring a slew of delicious makeup! This set is kinda cool if you want to take makeup with you on the go as the palettes inside all snap out and can be placed into a portable palette that Tarte includes with the gift set.

Take a look!

The Tarte Away Oui Go Portable Palette & Collector’s Set comes in a sturdy cardboard jewelry box-like packaging. It opens to reveal four eyeshadow quads that each finish one blush each! The opposite side of the box features a quilted mirror compact that allows you to remove each of the quads for travel! You also get three deluxe Lipsurgence Lipglosses and a deluxe Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara. There are 12 Amazonian Clay Eyeshadows here and 4 Shades of Amazonian Clay Blush broken into four different palettes.

If you’re traveling for the weekend or staying at a friend or boyfriend’s place the fact you can pop in and out any quad and take it with you is a rather nice option to have as you aren’t limited to carrying around a bulky box of makeup with you. The compact is quite cute and has a soft, quilted front size decorated with pearls. The inside features a small mirror and a well for your quad. The magnetic closure is a little week on it so be careful to tuck it securely into your makeup bag less it flips open during travel. The magnet holding the quad is place is quite strong and it’s easy enough to remove the quad with a ribbon pull that’s attached to each compact.

I am a fan of the Tarte Amazonian Clay Shadow but you have to keep in mind these are not crazy pigmented and have a softer finish. I find the texture very agreeable for my finely lined eyes. They are soft, silky, easy to blend, and have excellent pigmentation. I thought the shades were much more wearable in the Away Oui Go Portable Palette & Collector’s Set compared to the ones in the Tarte Bon Voyage Collectors Set & Travel Bag. You get a selection of both warmer and cooler shades although more warmer than cool in my opinion. There’s a gorgeous golden peach here entitled Kisses Under the Arc that I’m wearing below which I adore! The finishes vary here so you get shimmers, frosts, metallics, and mattes. All have an excellent texture including the mattes were are very soft and easy to blend! I find the Tarte Shadow formula most comparable to the silk, lighter texture of Lorac’s Eyeshadow formula.

The four blush shades are new colors introduced in this palette and aren’t any featured from the permanent collection although I’m sure there’s a dupe or two to be found here. The blushes are beautifully formulated with a smooth, silky texture and excellent pigment. Sometimes when you purchase palettes like this you’ll find the quality of the makeup isn’t as great as the larger permanent sizes. But I’ve only ever been disappointed with an Amazonian Clay Blush once in a palette (the recent Rainforest After Dark Eye & Cheek blush) and this are all quite excellent.

I loved the Lipsurgence Glosses in this set as well but I would change the brush applicator. It was very pointy and stiff so I had a hard time apply the gloss easily. The gloss formula was thick, a little tacky, and nicely pigmented with a comfortable wear but it went on a little patchy due to the brush applicator. A little clear gloss will ease the uneven finish! Next time around a softer bristled lip brush would be welcome.

If you didn’t like the darker shades offered in the Bon Voyage Set, I think you’ll love the Away Oui Go Set. This one contains far easier to wear shades in my opinion with a good deal of blushes along for the ride! So rather than one blush you get in the Bon Voyage Set you get four in this set!

As a Tarte fan, I really liked this set. I doubt I’ll make much use of the travel option compact but as shades I’d use daily, yeah, there’s plenty here to love on!

The Tarte Away Oui Go Portable Palette & Collector’s Set is available now at Ulta and Ulta.com.

This looks like a really nice set! The eyeshadow swatches look great and the lippies are very pretty too

  • Melissa

Beautiful! Thanks for the color swatches! I can’t decide if I want this set, the one at Sephora, or the tsv from Qvc. Do you have swatches from the Sephora one ?

  • Kelly Zollo

Oh so pretty I am having such a hard time deciding between which Tarte set to buy this year for Christmas. I have super pale skin an ivory, darker blue eyes and warmer hair. I know I can be pretty neutral overall would you say this runs a little more warmer than the Bon Voyage set? I noticed that one has a lot of blues and purples in it that I don’t think would be super flattering on me. I think with this you’re getting the blushes too which is an advantage!

  • Jackie

I found this palette to be just ok…It was nice enough and of good quality but I feel that Tarte has been putting out too many neutral palettes lately with very similar neutral shades. What happened to having a variety of colors like with their holiday palettes a few years back (for example, The Jewelry Box and Carried Away Set)? Now THOSE were exciting palettes because of their bright eyeshadow colors and the variety…I feel that Tarte needs to bring that back instead of bringing out more neutrals.

  • Ellie

Oh muse why do you have to have such beautiful swatches and reviews! I thought this was a pass for me… I also returned the bon voyage set so I thought I was off the hook with the bigger tarte sets Now I’m reconsidering. I am obsessed with tarte blushes as of recently. Will I regret not getting this?

    • Isabella Muse

aw thanks ellie! 😀 haha I always have regrets when I don’t buy something! Good luck resisting 😀

  • Tina

I have this set and LOVE it!! I agree completely, I think these are much more wearable for me than the Bon Voyage set. I love the neutrals and love that you get 4 blushes in the set. For me, this set was a must have. I love the neutrals, and think this set would be perfect for tons of day looks, as well as night. GREAT review, and GREAT swatches as always. Thank you so much!

    • Isabella Muse

agreed! bon voyage was lovely but the darker shades were a bit of a no go for me 😀 plus I love the blush selection! ;-D aw thanks Tina <3! heart you!

  • LipstickHoarder

I told you before this box is on my wishlist and now that I see swatches, especially yours, I want it even more now!! This palette is so universal. All shades can wear this. *drools* Mama want nao! *makes grabby hand gesture*

  • Jessica

Loved this blog! bought this palette for my mother. I was worried about the quality but pictures show I have nothing to worry about!

  • Ella

    Please Respond!
I got this set and was super disappointed to find out the Cannes gloss was limited edition, which color is it most like from the shades they are selling now?

  • Jean

Hey Muse, I’ve been checking out your reviews for a while, not reading (sorry) but looking at the photos and whatever camera you use makes everything look gorgeous. And makes me want to buy them! Even though I thought the colors all looked neutral and redundant I felt I had to have this palette (maybe because I missed Gorgeous Getaways and desperately regretted it?). For the price it was a good value too. Looking at this year’s collections, I regretted buying Away Oui Go thinking I could’ve put the money into better use. Your review just changed my mind! I’ve had it since last year but only put on makeup occasionally and have so many palettes I put off using this one. I’m so glad I bought it now. The swatches are absolutely gorgeous, especially the first set of colors, and the blushes. I’m not a big fan of gloss but these are beautiful. Anyway, thanks for the review and sorry for the rant 🙂

    • Isabella Muse

thanks Jean! Glad you like the photos! My pleasure! I hope you’ll share your thoughts when you get it 🙂 I hope you love it. Rant away, I’m always ranting about makeup 😀 that’s part of the fun!
