About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I’m into the colors, especially Cocoa Bean, Dark Cloud, and Plush but kind of worried about the formula.

$6? I can afford to give these a try! Berry Tea, Molten Love and Dark Cloud! I like the idea that my cheeks can be the same tone as my lips and for $6 how can you lose?!

  • Monica

I’ve heard great things about these from one of my favorite YouTube beauty gals. I think she liked them better as a blush. Muse I can’t wait for you to swatch these!

the colour “Plush” looks amaaaaazing in their swatch. but the colour of the tube is so completely different, and more in line with what a “nude pink” generally is.

i want the colour in the swatch. reminds me of my favourite lipstick from high school (Bonne Bell’s Paris Plum!)…. i’m really looking forward to actual swatches!

I may have to give “plush” a try, it looks really pretty and kind of different from the thousands of lipsticks i already own! I have to say though, i absolutely HATE those weird lips that NYX always has in their swatches..eew, they give me the creeps!

Sorry this is long: Dear Muse, I give gratitude daily as I read your post over my morning coffee. Your blog has been with me over the years, as I have undertook the challenge of making myself lose over 100 pounds.
What did I replace my sugar addiction with you might ask; I adore makeup. I am a late bloomer in the makeup world. I am almost 50, and I still get giddy with a new beauty product.
Hair: light brownish red, neutral skin in light/fair (classic ivory) Green eyes.
Review NYX NYX Whipped Lip & Cheek Souffle for Fall 2015
I do own a couple of the YSL lip cheek baby doll kiss & blush; therefore, I am comparing the NYX whipped lip and & cheek to YSL+ both purchased with my own money
For reference, I am middle age, I have chronic dry lips from the bad habit of mouth breathing. I apply lip balm almost hourly. I can’t leave the house without lip balm. I cannot comfortably wear any lipsticks labeled as matte regardless of formula.
Review: NYX Whipped Lip & Cheek soufflé:
Scent: NYX sweet vanilla candle, and I LOVE IT- Note the smell does not linger. Once applied I can no longer smell the product. No taste either. NYX smells like my hand cream Burt’s Bees richly replenishing body lotion for dry skin Cocoa & Capuacu Butters about 90% similar in scent.
Size NYX 0.27 ounces or 8ml —-YSL .33ounces or 10ml
Container NYX small clear plastic with black cap (simple) with pointed doe foot applicator—- YSL square glass (luxury) with gold top with fat round doe foot applicator.
Texture: NYX is a slightly creamier than the YSL. 90% similar. After two hours my lips felt dry and slightly tight,(this is normal for me) I did feel the need to apply a clear lip balm (gingerbread kiss Chapstick) After applying lip balm the stain does transfer as sheer color on my hand. My lips still appear stained in an even color after the lip balm. How amazing is that!
Application: NYX was easier to apply due to the pointed slender doe foot applicator. Took very little product of the NYX to cover my lips. YES
Wear time: NYX stained my lips and wore almost 100% the same— Wear time depends on condition of lips, if balm was used first, and if gloss was applied after. Does leave behind a stain of the true color. Did not cling or accentuate the dry patches on my lower lip. Really love NYX
Transferring: NYX: once dry there is minimal transfer to cup and when I kissed the back of my hand.
Price: NYX $6.00 purchased online zero discount. YSL from Sephora $40.00 (ouch) =$34 less
WLCS04 Molten Love (Amour Fusion)- after dry on lips color is traditional deep blue red (think 1950 patriotic lipstick, America), makes my teeth appear whiter ( I drink a lot of coffee) did not feather or run into fine lines.
WLCS01 Berry Tea (The’ Aux Baies) Color: true raspberry tone. Reminds me of my Nars blush in “Mata Hari” NYX is bluer than the Nars blush. This is prettier on my freckles than the Nars blush.
WLCS07 Dark Cloud (Nauge Sombre) Color: traditional fuchsia with a matte cream finish. (Think pinkish berry wine) Again, made my teeth appear white
As for wearing these as blush: The pigment is really concentrated. A little goes a long way. I had to do the three tiny dots along my cheek bone and blend fast. The finish is a natural soft focus with a hint of cream to powder finish with a hint (10%) tackiness or creaminess when touched which goes away after a minute.
Thank you Muse so much, and a huge hug from this makeup geek. I love your blog so much. Thanks to you, I now have an affordable replacement for my YSL baby doll kiss & blush
In my opinion, I prefer the NYX over the YSL, for pigment, scent, feel, and best of all, price.
NYX is a comparable dupe. I do recommend these.

This stuff is hands down amazing. It is pretty water resistant, has a dewy, but ethereal glow about them and the price point makes these a better win over Glossier Cloud Paints. I am in love with Coral-Slice and Pink Lace. Ladies don’t miss out! Right now ULTA has BOGO 1/2 for all NYX right now through 6/3/17 too!
