Pixi Glow-y Powder Review & Swatches
Pixi + Aspynovard Glow-y Powder ($16) is a new mineral highlighter that launched in three shade selections which were created in collaboration with Aspyn, a beauty and lifestyle youTube guru. Pixi started tweeting about these a few months ago and did some Instagram sneak peeks as well and one of the shades that caught my eye during that time was Rome Rose. It’s a rather stunning NARS Orgasm-like shade with elements of rose and peach combined with pretty golden shimmer.
Let’s take a look at my review of the Pixi Glow-y Powder below.
Pixi Glow-y Powder comes housed in a light green packaging with a clear lid that are 0.36 oz in size each. I was pretty impressed with the price and size of these. At $16, these are very generously sized. I question whether I need this much highlighter in my life as I’m not prone to using it that awful. I will say that I’ll likely use Rome Rose quite a lot as it can work as either as a blush or highlighter.
These have a soft, velvety texture with a lovely luminous sheen finish. They don’t have huge chunks of shimmer or glitter but have a more refined glow-y finish that brings light to your face and cheekbones without leaving you looking like a disco ball. I find the texture beautiful to work with as it blends very easily but you have to be quite careful with application as they tend to cling to drier areas and also can accentuate less than smooth skin. Prep well prior to application and use a good primer to get the best finish. All three shades are highly pigmented.
As I mentioned above, Rome Rose is my favorite shade. This one is a must have in my opinion. The shade quite reminds me of NARS Orgasm and MAC Sweet Vision Magic Dust Powder. I really wanted to use it as a blush but it’s a LITTLE too much glow for that. However, using it over a cheek stain or another sheer shade of peach blush produces a really pretty glow on my face. It’s just gorgeous! Love this shade. I can see myself using this daily.
