Wet n Wild Megaglo Blush Stick Review & Swatches
Wet n Wild Megaglo Blush Stick is one of several new Megaglo Makeup Stick formulas that launched for Spring 2017. They actually did conceal, contour, highlighting, and blush sticks in this formula and from my understanding they are part of the permanent collection.
There’s actually so much potential with this formula because it’s a pretty glow-y shade that looks dewy and sun kissed on cheeks and face but the consistency, poor packaging, and shorter wear make for a disappointing experience.
Wet n Wild Megaglo Blush Stick comes housed in a small chunky swivel up barrel that holds 0.21 oz of product. About two year’s ago these dome shaped chubby blush sticks were all the rage courtesy Clinique’s Chubby Stick Moisturizing Cheek Colour Balm and Chubby in the Nude Foundation Stick starting the trend. I dunno about you but I find the dome shape so much easier to work with than the blush sticks with a flat top. They fit the contours of your face so much easier. This doesn’t swivel down which was one of the things that annoyed me about the Wet n Wild MegaGlo Cheek & Lip Tint but I find it a lot easier to replace the lid without slicing a chunk of blush off this thanks to the dome shape. Sadly, the packaging is a bit faulty as the stick breaks off at the base and ends up sliding completely out of the tube if you aren’t careful! I’m not alone because I read a lot of reviews where this happened to others.
One of the things that disturbed me most about this was the fact it smelled so bad. It’s like a chemical crayola fragrance. It’s really strong and rather gross.
Once I got passed the smell I was pretty ok with the formula. It’s a thicker, creamier texture that blends easily but building is absolutely essential for the best color pay off as it sheers away considerably as you blend. I tend to apply a TON of it initially and just blend it out from there. This way I don’t have to keep building and the color actually turns out quite naturally. It’s weird as it swatches pigmented but color sheers out a lot as you blend. I picked up the shade Hustle & Glow which is a subtle golden orange. It has a little bit of a luminous glow on my cheeks with a dewier finish that isn’t tacky or nor sticky. It fades fast though! If I get two hours of wear from it I’m lucky!
Wet n Wild Megaglo Blush Stick has a lot of potential as it would make for a cute, glow-y blush for Summer. But the shade selection is a little lacking, the strong scent is quite awful, and shorter wear makes it a little bit of a bust for me.
