Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Is On My Buy List

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

The new Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Eyeshadow Palette was revealed on Instagram today and without a doubt it’s on my Fall list of must buys! I never got a chance to review it but I really enjoyed the Huda Beauty Rose Gold Edition Eyeshadow Palette. No, it didn’t have the softest mattes in the world, no the formula was the greatest in the world, but for some reason the shades just worked so well for me and blended quite easily for something that was a bit denser in texture. And I really loved the foiled metallic shades! They paired up fantastically with the mattes and didn’t look frosty or too cray shimmer.

On September 18th, Huda will be launching her second eyeshadow palette which contains 18 new shades inspired by the desert at dusk. It looks like there are considerably more shimmers in this one but it’s a little hard to tell from promo images alone.

Needless to say, it’s on my list and I’m hoping it’ll be obtainable because last time around it sold out rather fast and I didn’t want to order from her website directly because shipping was so expensive. I know, I sound crazy saying that I’m willing to dish out $65 on a palette with mediocre mattes but there’s something about her formula I really enjoy! By the way, if you own it and hate it for some reason I wildly suggest trying to pack color on with a sponge-tipped eyeshadow applicator. It’s seriously life changing.

Will you be picking up the Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Eyeshadow Palette later next month?

What did you think of the original Rose Gold Edition?

I have the Rose Gold palette and I love it! I definitely saw a lot of negative reviews, but I thought the colors were beautiful and the shimmers were unique and stunning! It even says on the package to apply them with your fingers, so I didn’t get why people complained that they didn’t apply well with a brush. Not sure if I’ll pick up this one or not (trying to cut down on my spending), but it looks very pretty, too!

I’m glad I’m not alone because I really enjoyed it as well! It was just a palette that worked well for me and my eyes 😀 Not the best formula by any means but still glad I got it!

I’m with you Muse — I like the Rose Gold palette. It’s not the greatest formula, it’s not the easiest to work with, it is kind of overpriced — but I like it anyway. I don’t know how to justify it…it’s just a fun palette. And I will be getting the Desert Dusk one as soon as i can get my hands on it. It’s hard to tell from the photos but I think I like the colors — purples! — even better in it.

    • Isabella Muse

Likewise! I concur on every single did you just said. But something about it just draws me in. I use it a lot which is such a rarity when I’m buzzing from one thing to the next! Purples/pinks would be nice!

There’s a much better picture of the palette at her web site, and I’m torn. I’d hoped for a palette that was predominantly cool tones, because I’m so tired of all the ABH ModRen clones. How many orange and red shadows do I need? Not many. Wish there was more silver, pink, plum, maybe a teal for contrast.

When I really study the palette, I think I have the colors (but prolly not the same finishes) covered between the ModRen palette and the TF PB&J one. Sigh… guess we have to wait for a true cool-toned stunner of a palette. I should be happy because money saved, but I feel ridiculously disappointed!

Love how the Rose Gold looked on a guy SA @ Sephora…He had on virtually all mattes, and made it seem so easy and unstudied. For s.o. In my age bracket (old) the sparkly shades read anywhere from ‘trying too hard’ to ‘wtf, you are not Iris Apfel.’ We oldies need refined shimmer, like Viseart Paris Nudes. Got that yesterday, from the Muse beauty sale. What a phenom that one is. Will prob always admire Huda products, but not go there. Maybe if she makes a collection for her grandmother, lol.

I liked the Rose Gold Pallet a lot and I’m sure that Ill go for this one as long as there are no dupes or anything that is too much like this pallet. And I don’t see that. Thanks for the info on the new release. 😀

I can’t speak to anything but her liquid matte lipsticks and the newer lip strobes (metallic type of glosses). I love both formulas! Huda is talented and puts out quality product, from what I have tried and her reviews. Rose Gold had a big controversy but once it was applied as directed, makeup enthusiasts had more success and some really love the product.

I enjoy the liquid mattes the most. Socialite is my favorite color. Shameless in the lip strobe is everything!!!

  • LPMarie13

Love this! Looks like she took the feedback from Rose Gold to heart and added a nice mirror to this one. I want them both! This launches the day after my birthday…it’s a big one, too. Might treat myself to both. I have soooo many palettes it’s crazy, though.

First world problems, for sure, but I want to try applying with a sponge applicator like you suggested. I love Huda’s lip products. And her whole story of how she got into make up. I want to be so bold!

The Rose Gold palette is discontinued, so if you want it, now is the time to buy it if you can still find it.

Huda did a rather long video when the Rose Gold palette was released: the “textured” shadows (first five, left to right on the top row, and the first shadow in the second row on the left) are best applied with a fingertip OR with a brush dipped first in a mixing medium (not water). The tip re using a brush and mixing medium for those shadows only appeared in that video (AFAIK), unfortunately – I think the palette would have gotten much more positive reviews had that been common knowledge….

      • LPMarie13

Wow, I got LUCKY! I ordered Rose Gold Saturday night on impulse, I didn’t even know it was going to be discontinued! I’ll try to apply the foils with my fingers or a sponge applicator like Muse suggested. Im excited!!!

I really like the looks of the rose gold palette but just can’t justify spending $65 on an eyeshadow palette. Maybe $45 lol. This new one doesn’t really excite me. Just more warm tones and a couple purples.

  • kel h.

wow i’ve never heard of huda but this has a lot of colors i would use (not the black or any gold but i like most of them). will await your swatches and review!

  • genevieve

For those who love and can wear these shades, this palette looks magnificent.

are you speaking to me or Genevieve? I don’t have anyone blocked on Instagram so I’m assuming the message was directed elsewhere?
