Too Faced Sweetie Pie Radiant Matte Bronzer Review & Swatches
Too Faced Sweetie Pie Radiant Matte Bronzer is a new, permanent matte bronzer that launched will be available with the Too Faced Peaches & Cream Collection exclusively at Sephora. This little bronzer contains four different shades that combine together to great a warm glow on skin.
Let’s take a look!
Too Faced Sweetie Pie Radiant Matte Bronzer got an early, one day launch on Monday at Sephora.com but will be available officially tomorrow with the rest of the Peaches & Cream Collection. Too Faced calls this a radiance-boosting bronze with a matte finish. I know, contradicts itself doesn’t it? A quick glance at the design and you’ll notice that it appears shimmery but this is in fact merely an over spray as the bronze below is matte in finish.
One of the key selling points of the Peaches & Cream Collection was the fact it was completely matte but with a finish and a formula that the brand is calling a “comfortable matte”. I know I’m a person that tends to shy away from matte formulas as they can run drier. The really good news is mattes have evolved so much in recent years and become more and more easier to wear and most importantly easy to blend and apply. Too Faced nail it with this bronzer’s formula. As promised, it is a comfortable matte that applies very easily and blends just as well.
This is 0.47 oz in size and $30 in price. The bronzer comes housed in adorable packaging. The compact is completely gold with a very generously sized mirror inside. The face plate features and adorable juicy peach design with the words “Sweetie Pie” on the lid. The compact isn’t weight but it isn’t cheap feeling in the least. It’s quite well made with a gorgeous design that isn’t overly cutesy.
The powder inside is a cross stitch pattern that is made of four different shades of Candied Peach (pink), Caramelized Peach (light brown), Golden Peach (medium brown), and Bronzed Peach (dark brown). I’m not a bronzer girl by any means but when I do use it I tend to like to apply a little pop of blush on top of it (as seen below). Unfortunately, the blush portion in this palette won’t give you that look. The tiny dots of peach are dominated by the bronze-y shades so when you do apply you’ll end up with all bronze, all day. I noticed that the lighter bronze dominated which results in a cooler pay off versus a warmer one. If you had plans to contour with this I don’t think it’ll achieve the look simply because it applies sheerer.
I think the sheerness will disappoint quite a few people. It’s weird to call a bronzer cool-toned but that’s how it comes across to me. It might appear a bit pasty on an olive or tanned complexion. I have a little bit of a tan at the moment and on me it was softer and sheerer. This could be good news or bad news depending how you look at it. I don’t really want a super warm complexion so, the sheerness didn’t really bother me. It looks particularly nice when I apply it first and follow up with a light dusting of a shimmery blush. This gives me a pretty warm radiance. I wouldn’t say you can rely on the bronzer for the radiance though as this has an over spray of fine gold shimmer that disappears after a single swipe of your brush. After that the finish has a soft, satiny matte one but no shimmer or glow.
The formula has a soft, velvety consistency that’s easy to blend. It’s soft but not powdery nor too loosely packed. It feels like a satiny matte to me so not a complete traditional matte finish. I didn’t have issues with it clinging to drier areas but it can look cakey if you layer too much of it on. I don’t think they’ll be any issue with it accentuating pores but again, it can look overly done if you apply too layers. Which by the way is tempting to do because of the sheerer pay off.
As promised this has a very soft, subtle peach scent. When I was applying it I could smell it very faintly but it doesn’t linger. You literally have to stick your nose up close to the powder to catch the scent. It’s very pleasant and not like the Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette which had a more synthetic scent. This smells sweeter and more natural. It actually smells like Sanrio Peach Gum.
Too Faced Sweetie Pie Radiant Matte Bronzer is gorgeously packaged and formulating yet disappointingly sheer. I don’t think it’s something you have to rush to purchase!
