I sort of predicted we’d see the L’Oreal x Balmain Paris Lipstick Collection launch at drugstores after their debut on Barney’s. Yes, Barney’s New York was the first to get these new matte lipstick shades that were created in collaboration with Balmain Paris. Didn’t think you’d ever see L’Oreal Paris at Barney’s did ya? But it’s true! They were pre-booking these several weeks ago by now the line will be available to everyone starting November 11th at Ulta.com.

But if you want to touch them and see what they look like up close and personal you’ll have to wait until January when they debut in stores. I’m not sure at this point if Ulta is the only store getting dibs on the L’Oreal Balmain Paris Lipsticks but I have my doubts. I think they’ll make a Spring 2018 launch at drugstores across the board. Ulta Platinum Members can take advantage for one day only today and grab them online but they go back into hiding until November 11th for their official launch.

The shades are a whooping $14 each which is considerably higher than your typical L’Oreal Color Riche Lipstick shade at $8.99 testimony that drugstore makeup is starting to reach premium prices.

The shades are divided into three color themes or tribes which include Glamazone, Couture, and Rock aka femine, edgy, and couture elegant. All the shades are limited edition and matte in finish with barrels designed by Olivier Rousteing, creative director of Balmain Paris.

Shades include:

  • Urban Safari
  • Glamazone
  • Fever
  • Balmain Instinct
  • Domination
  • Liberation
  • Confession
  • Confidence
  • Freedom
  • Power
  • Legend
  • Rebellion

I indulged in a few shades when Barney’s had these but haven’t tried them yet. Anyone else try them yet?

Thoughts?

Planning on buying some?

Get them at Ulta.com today only for Platinum Members and on November 11th for everyone else!

If they have the horrible perfume taste of L’oreals other lipsticks, it’s a pass for me.

Agree – worst fragrance of any lipstick. Except maybe Rimmel – but that’s another thread

Sigh… so sad they’re all matte. I HATE matte lipstick! If they were the typical Crème Riche finish, I’d be going broke.

I would love to try these, but I’m not rushing. I’m a bit disappointed that these are $14. Since L’Oréal lipsticks around me are anywhere from $5.99 (when on sale at Kroger) or $9.99, does this mean when they land near me they’ll be anything from $13.99 to, what, $18.99, if it goes beyond Ulta, etc? I like L’Oréal lipsticks (for the most part) but if I’m going to pay $14 for one I’d rather toss a couple more bucks into the mix and get an Urban Decay lippie.

ITA! Once it hits CVS and Walgreens I bet it goes to like $16.99 per shade because I find CVS/Walgreens incredibly expensive! Hopefully there is a BOGO!

I am tempted because the images are stunning and the colors look very vibrant. I like everyone else can’t justify paying that for a drugstore product if there is nothing special other than the colors. Maybelline released very similar colors and kept the same price point. I just purchased BITE, Stila, and KVD on sale that were cheaper than thsee but I still think they are pretty!

I’m waiting to see more swatches online. I’m particularly interested in the olive one and the shimmery pink.

I have Glamazone – I blind bought it on Barneys and I don’t love love it. It is matte (I far prefer cream) and does have a scent (that seems to be slightly different and evaporates faster. Still wouldn’t recommend it if you’re not a fan of their lipstick perfume). It has very good pigment and average lastability.

I mean it’s a stone grey taupe and doesn’t look great on me, but that’s the blind buy issue, right? I would love to see them in store.

I loved the shades I bought at Barney’s. However the price is very off putting. I’m becoming disgusted with the rising price of drugstore makeup.
