About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. If you’re that person feel free to reach out and leave a comment or follow me on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Bloglovin‘.

I want to know how the Muse got her blog banner. Did she make it herself, and if so, what software did she use?

And what started your obsession with cosmetics? Also, what are your other interests?

I am going to send you a pic of the haul tomorrow! I had a ton of stuff to do today and didn’t get around to it.

BTW…I love those “Muse Approved” seals you’ve come up with. Ingenious!

  • Grayburn

    Hi Muse!
As you might know, I love mascaras and anything that has to do with prettyfying lashes. I would like to know, what your opinion about heated eye lash curlers is?

Thanks! (drop by mine if you wanna know what my favorite mascara is!)

  • the Muse

*evil laugh* The Muse must have some secrets!!!!!!!! She won’t say Taryn 😉

hehe! My header is a guarded secret!!!!!!!!!!!! =)

Mmmm I dunno what started my insanity 🙂 I can’t honestly say I recall a time I wasn’t utterly charmed by makeup. I fancy all good things cosmetic., bath and body, and such 😉

Gosh I have a ton of interests 🙂 I’m a bit of a geek so I love gaming, computers, etc. Love good books and movies. Being with my friends and family 🙂

I love this city even though I rant something stupid about it most days of my life. Always something new and exciting to do in New York 🙂

As far as collections and obsessions I guess cosmetics and old books would be two that are out of control at times 😉 hehe!

can’t wait to see your goodies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AW thanks! I love them too! Hehe! I got a special one done up for my Specktra column which I adore 😉

    Hugs!

    Hi Grayburn!

I love it too 😉 I don’t use a heated curler and find them very difficult to use and don’t see the benefits really as I find heated or not they both do the same things.

I’m not fond of the heat around my eyes and I also finds it smears my look as I normally use my curler after my shadow is in place and a heated on screws with my shadow! So it’s a big no for me!

I am a big fan of spraying my curler with “stay” to hold my lashes in place. It’s a small sprayer you can purchase at Japanese drugstores and you spray onto your curler to keep the curl in your lashes. ADORE this stuff with a passion! You can find it in e-bay or asian groceries sometimes have a small beauty aisle and carry it.

I’ll definately motor over as I’m dead curious what your fav is 😉

I have too many to count sometimes but MJ is top on my list of favs!

    Thanks for the comment 🙂

hi renata I’ve tried ALOT I currently have around 20-25 in rotation which I use daily. I’m going to try to do a round up post shortly for you! My HG would be Shills 6 in 1 🙂

      hope this helps!

  • Renata

Hi, Muse! Yes, it helps a lot!
The thing is I bought an eyelash curler and the seller happened to have BB Creams too, so I bought it without any previous research. Then I heard a lot about Skin79 and Missha, and I thought “Well, if this one I bought is *this* good, how good must be the ones from the best brands?!”
Now you can think about how lucky I am. The one BB Cream I got was Shills Super Magic BB Cream! This is so nice to know! I was thinking of trying many others based on the benefits this Shills have made on my skin in four days (yes, 4!), because I thought this one could be inferior to those more “infamous”.
By the way, I hope you can understand the things I write. English is not my best feature. XD
If you decide to post about the BB Creams you know and tested, I will certainly love! Thank you so much!
    :-*

    • the Muse

yay glad I helped some renata!

Skin79 is a fav of mine as well 😀 Missha is quite good too! Also Jadilla J makes a whitening one which is also HG for me. the shills one is incredible and yes for a cheaper brand it’s REALLY good…do you know it’s like $4-$5 USD in Taiwan….isn’t that crazy cheap!? 😀

Your english is great hun! Where are you from!?

I will def do that post soon! I’ve been kinda busy getting holiday up on Musings but the BB one is in the works b/c I tried SO many and have wanted to do a post about them for ages 🙂

  • Angie Twe

Muse! You have like about 25 different types of BB creams????

Oh … thats too much my girl! Hahaha!

  • Tanesha

Hi Muse. I just recently (about a half hour ago, hehe) found this website and I’d just like to say THANK YOU SO MUCH! You’ve already helped me a ton with choosing which makeup to buy or not to buy 😀
I also have a question: Do you know of a good concealer to conceal dark ‘circles’ (but not really) right on the sides of my nose by the inside corners of my eyes? I thought about Physician’s Formula Gentle Cover Concealer Stick in Yellow but I already have a yellow-ish concealer stick (not specified for under-eye circles, dark spots, etc.) Is the Physicians Formula stick a good one? Or can you recommend another (drugstore-brand please; I live in a small town and prefer not to buy online) that you have found to be particularly good?

    • the Muse

hi tanesha! so glad to meet you. I’m so glad you’re enjoying Musings 🙂 I’m not sure, I don’t really love stick concealers as my eyes are super dry and these formulas tend to be dry for me. I don’t really have any drugstore recs at the moment for concealer’s that work. I really loved maybelline’s dream mousse concealer but they don’t carry it anymore which is so sad, it was a fab product. If I think of anything or try something new I’ll def let you know. You can check through my concealer reviews here but most are high end 🙁 https://www.musingsofamuse.com/category/concealer-reviews but perhaps you can find something that fits your budget! hope this helps! and thanks for the comment 🙂

    Hi Muse,

Do you have any advice on which eye creams are good investments? I would like to find a good eye cream that is still budget-friendly (I’m a college student). I searched on some websites, and it looks like the Yes To Carrots eye cream is the best one out there for the best price, so far. What do you think?

    Thanks a bunch!!!

    Hi Muse ~

I recently came across your website and am greatly enjoying your product reviews and recommendations. I have even signed up for email notifications as I don’t want to miss out on anything new! But my question for you is one of a more personal nature. In all your photos, your hair is pulled back and covered. Is that to allow the makeup to be the focus, or do you cover your hair for another reason? I have just never seen another makeup blogger do this, so I was just curious to know the reason. However, please forgive me if this is too intrusive of a question, and if you are uncomfortable answering for any reason, I will understand.

Thank you, and keep up the great work! 🙂

    • the Muse

      hi grace!

glad you’re enjoying the site. I’m really pleased to hear it 🙂 no particularly reason. My hair is very long and very wavy and I typically pull it back in a bun in the AM prior to going to work and doing my makeup. Headband keeps it out of my eyes while I apply makeup and throughout my work day.

have a great day and thank you for subscribing! Hope to talk to you again soon in the comment box!

A very good friend of mine once tried to explain why she only used a German brand of chapstick, why it was her favorite. So much so, she orders it online since we cannot find it locally. She is German by the way, and wonderful. Anywho, she showed me the little…chapstick roll and I tried to read the brand and was not able to. I’ve been looking around and found a picture of a Blistex brand, Triple Tropical Fruit Smoothies. My question is this; Is this a product only produced in Germany, or, am I confusing what I saw her using with a similar looking package? I really want to make sure to give to her the right thing. If anyone has an answer, I will still be searching. Please add a subject noting the topic. Thank you very much.

Just came across this website and I love it! I’ve been staring at Victoria’s Secret web page creating a wish list but am not familiar with their makeup line at all or all the new fragrances. Would love to get feedback/recs about any products anyone has used and like or ones that I shouldn’t even waste my money. Any response would be much appreciated. Thanks!

    Good morning, Ladies!

I have just spent 2 hours via Sephora & Ulta looking for the best face primer! UGH!

    Here’s what I really need….
Face primer that takes care of enlarged pores, wrinkles… will go well with my Tarte Cream Powder foundation….. will last beautifully all day in this crazy Texas weather! I heard that primers that are silicone free are the best especially if you have some breakouts, large pores, & wrinkles etc etc…..
PLease help me! Its fixin’ to get hot down here!
