Koda Kumi Gossip!

I read about the Koda Kumi gossip on a blog a few days ago but Iris from Rouge Deluxe has reported on it as well!

If you haven’t yet noticed Visee’s website has been down the past few days and it’s all do to problems with it’s spokesmodel, Koda Kumi!

If you’re not familiar with Koda Kumi she’s a Japanese pop star and of course the model image for Kose’s Visee line!

I won’t go into details about what happened with her as you can click your way over to Iris and read the details for yourself!

I will however say that I don’t think what was said was meant in an ill or mean spirited manner. I guess she thought she was being very “scientific” but it came out completely wrong! However, she’s cost Kose (and herself I imagine) a ton of money! You’d think she’d have known better then to say something like that! I’m wondering what Kose is planning to do with the new line up that just released?! New spokesmodel?

Anyway! Thought you might find it of interest if you live stateside and haven’t heard about it and happen to be a fan of Visee or Koda Kumi!

err…don’t get me wrong, but Koda Kumi creeps me out. isn’t she all plastic anyway? rreow! the claws are coming out!!!

  • the Muse

well…mmmmm…she’s kinda made of plastic…and maybe some preservatives as well!

    😉

No seriously I find her rather exotic looking even if it’s make believe hehe!

Her songs are pretty ok too!

  • Row

Wow – I am surprised that Kose took it so seriously? I mean I know famous people get dropped all the time when something serious happens but I think she was just a little naieve with what she said, I don’t think there was any ill intent in it. I think in essence she was trying to say women over 35 have a harder time getting pregnant and carrying a baby which lets face it is true…but she worded is wrongggg.

But still, bit harsh pulling her from the ads.

Emm I don’t think she’s very pretty btw.

  • the Muse

    Hi Rows!

Well it is Japan. I think manners are quite important and what she said was deemed highly inapproriate when it comes to good manners! As liberal a nation Japan is they still have very old world values.

I truly believe she didn’t mean harm but what she said came out wrong wrong wrong.

It shows the difference between Japan the US and the UK! If this happened here or your end it would jack sales lol! The US would totally cash in on it lmao!

She’s not bad. She looks good sometimes and then other times she looks a bit false or plastic as mentioned by D! Depends on the lighting lol!

    A stupid celebrity? Shock! Horror!

In respose to your previous comment, all Asian celebrities look ‘exotic’ now thanks to their de rigeur blepharoplasties.

Back on topic: it was a dumb remark, but no one’s been fired for blatant stupidity yet, right? Just look at Dubya: 8 solid years in office and he’s still thick as a brick.

I think KK’s remark reverberated more in Japan, where the prevailing culture is rather ageist and favors youth above all (though still claiming to revere old age), especially with regards to women.

Luckily, Visee cosmetics only utilizes amniotic fluids from women 35 and under.

I’d like to see how KK’s people try to play this one down: “Actually, what Kumi Kun was trying to say was that amniotic fluid doesn’t taste as fresh after it’s expiration date”. Simple misunderstanding.

Mandy iz it be hugs time now? I need one 🙂

hey i never said asian celebs look exotic! I said asians in general do 😉

Don’t misquote me! MY GOD! lol!

Dubya is the exception to the rule! Hehehehe! I love that man. His cometic value will be missed when he leaves office!

no more bushisms…I mourn the loss of bushisms!

It’s not only Japan. It’s strongly favored in Korea as well. Youth, younger, appearing younger, being younger etc…is a big part of the culture.

I also think it stems from old world values as well even though they are extremely liberal some of the old mannerisms remain!

LOL! This is going to take some serious clean up duty and perhaps an awesomely humiliating public apology!

    whatta ya think?

  • Dalenna

urgh. don’t get me started with japan and sexism. all hell’s gonna break loose with me. it’s not just japan, by the way. i find many folks who hold “old world” values dear do so out of convenience and not because they actually believe in it and live by it. what’s so good about “old world” values anyway?

okay. okay. no more negative energy. i’m happy. i’m possitive. i’m a bit looney too.

  • MandyPandy

Yes, it beez hug time nowz. *hugs*

I know, I was going to say Asians in general, but than realized that not all of us opt for plastic route, so it would have been a gross overstatement; I don’t even have an epicanthal fold (though my father does), so I wouldn’t need it.

As for Dubya: yes I agree, every village needs an idiot, but it’s rare for village to make him its King. He has ruled so very wisely over the rest of us idiots…

Bush did have a great deal of comedic value; sadly, the rest of the world was laughing AT us not WITH us.

Yes, mainstream (South)Korean culture also favors youth, but demographically Japan is an aging country, whereas South Korea is not. Put it this way: Koda Kumi ticks off the over 35 population of Japan, that’s a lot of angry women she’ll have to contend with, far more than in SK.

Koda Kumi needs to do what Tara Conner did, and that’s to have Donald Trump bail her ass out. Luckily for her, he seems to prefer women under 35 (their amniotic fluid is more fresh).

  • the Muse

    Hey D!
    LOL!

Bring out the fire baby! It’s a touchy topic before! My dad is one for “old values” *rolls eyes*

I guess with time we’ll one evolve!
I’m just waiting for the day 😉

  • the Muse

    PHEW Mandy!
    Iz need big hugs 😉

epicanthal fold WOW now we are getting super technical!

Guess you missed the gene train and that special fold of skin passed you up 😉

Indeed but I consider myself somewhat of higher intelligent idiot then your standard Dubya variety!

darn. too bad it was at us. We could have share some good times with the rest of the world if they’d just see the comedy!

Uh oh I see the little old japanese ladies now with pitchforks and fire! Bring that bitch Koda DOWN!

LOL ew bad mental image with Donald!

My eyes are stinging after that 😉

Japan must not completely hate her, she has the #1 album. I think she just didn’t think before she spoke. It’s happens to everyone, hers is just on a more public scale.

  • the Muse

oh gosh no one hates her 🙂 I just think she was a bit off mark with her remarks. She’s still very marketable. Especially Japan side obviously 🙂
