Etude House Peach Skin Pact & Pore Erasing Peach Base: Detailed Review

Since using the Etude House Peach Skin Pact and Pore Erasing Peach Base I felt like the two items deserved a revisit and deeper review than the short blurb I posted in my original post.

Yesterday morning as you may have previously read I used just the Peach Skin Pact and Pore Erasing Peach Base as my sole foundation routine. I did use a touch of concealer under my eyes but aside from that I only prepped and primed my skin with the base and set it with the powder.

To my delight the entire look I created came out very fresh, fun, and natural it also happened to last all day long which is why I felt the two items needed more of a detailed review.

I’ll start with the Etude House Pore Erasing Peach Base which everyone was quite excited about in my comment box. You’re right to be excited as it’s a wonderful, brilliant primer and the price is ridiculously inexpensive for such a great product.

I had the original idea that this might be like Benefit Erase Paste doubling not only as a primer but also as a concealer. Turns out that’s not the case at all. It’s very difficult to explain the exact texture and formula of this product. It’s a cross between matte and moisturizing. It’s of medium thickness and works well when “warmed” prior to use. I found that working it into the back of my hand and applying to my face seemed to make the blending process a bit easier.

When it first touches your face it feels very moisturizing and it quickly blends into the skin and has a similar texture as Smashbox Photofinish Primer however it does not pill like Photofinish does. If you’re unfamiliar with the term “pill” it simply means that the primer “balls” up and rolls off the skin in gross, sort of flaky balls. Photofinish does this for me constantly and it also happens to break me out rather badly. Pore Erasing Peach Base does not do either. No break outs and no pilling as I blend. It simply seeps naturally into the skin creating a smooth, flawless finish to the skin while prepping it for your foundation or in my case the Peach Skin Pact. As I had mentioned in my previous post the primer does carry the scent of peaches which I don’t mind in the least however if you’re sensitive to scents or just don’t enjoy your products scented this might be something you wish to avoid.

I don’t have particularly large pores however I can imagine this will do a brilliant job of filling pores while allowing your skin to breath. It feels natural and fresh on and is in no way heavy! If you have oily skin this will be an excellent solution for creating a matte finish.

With my first application of the base I did notice that my skin turned a ghostly white but after applying the powder it seemed to settle down well. I didn’t mind so much as I am always looking for ways to whiten up my skin as you already know from reading my previous article on whitening your skin!

The Peach Skin Pact is the perfect follow up treatment to the base. After applying the base I simply pat the powder on top to create a beautiful finish to my skin. I can already see that both the base and the powder will become a daily part of my routine in the Summer when I don’t want a ton of foundation laying on my skin!

The powder, like the base, carries the scent of peaches. The color is a universally flattering beige with a tiny hint of peach to it. It should work well on cooler skin tones including fair and medium but won’t work well on darker or tanned skin.

The powder is very light, airy, and silky. It applies beautifully and blends well. You can happily use it as your sole foundation when paired up with the Pore Erasing Peach Base which is exactly what I did yesterday morning!

The good news is I applied my makeup at 5:45 AM in the morning and it lasted, without touch ups, until about 6:00 PM in the evening! It began to fade a bit around 6:30 or so. I was shocked as I’ve never had my makeup last this long!

All and all I’m extremely pleased with both products and they are, as of now, most definately holy grail products for me!

On a different note I know many of you are wondering where I got the haul and such. I briefly explained to a few commentors that I had got my items from a friend who lives in Korea. I did some research around and I haven’t located a single online shop that sells Etude House cosmetics sadly.

However, the good news is I did run across several sellers on E-bay. The best one I came across was GinsengSeafood Beauty HK. She appears to be in China and has a small stash of Etude Cosmetics for sale. Her prices range seems to be about $5 USD on top of retail. If you’re interested you can click here to browse her selection of Etude House.

The other option I suggest is checking MUA and seeing if anyone would be willing to do a CP that is located in Korea.

Finally I would suggest visiting Facial-Shop as per my recommendation of this online shop in my Guide to Shopping for Japanese Cosmetics. The girl who runs the shop, Vivian, had once offered to have some Etude items but I never took her up on the offer. Maybe visit with her and ask if she has anything available.

I hope this helps!

Happy Shopping!

UPDATE: Thanks to one of my gorgeous readers, Humming, we now have another E-bay Seller. It appears this seller has the entire Peach Collection. Sadly the prices are SUPER jacked up but if your lemming is strong have a click here to gather up the Etude House Peach Collection for yourself! Example: The Pore Base is $34.99 USD and retails for $11 USD. Ouchy!

i just had the brilliant idea of maybe asking that one of my cousins get this for me 🙂

i don’t know if i’m going to just yet, but if i do i’m definitely going to have her ship a few over!

  • MandyPandy

Ah well, I’ll stick to my Clarins.

Tell me, is Etude a high-end, or drugstore brand? Either way, they’re welcome to bring Etude over here in exchange for our more pointless, mediocre cosmetics brands.

  • Humming

    Hi Muse *Hug*

I check your blog almost everyday and
I can’t believe you reviewed Etude House peach collections.
You are truly a global cosmetic explorer!!!!!!!
I am so glad that you like this product.
I haven’t tried this yet but when this popped up, I really wanted to give it a try. I can see how much you like these since you gave even two reviews for this.
When I go back this summer I am definitely buy this on the arrival day! kkk
i found another ebay seller who’s based in Korea.

I am dying to try this soon >_<
Btw you look sooo young and adorable in the photo with these base and pact on.
I will see if I look like your poreless skin!!hehe
    Take care~~~~~~~~*

  • the Muse

    hiya jen!!!!!!!

Good idea, good idea! I’d like to see your review on this 😉

I need a backup so I think I’m going to ask my mate to grab another one 😉

  • the Muse

    hey mandy my pandy 😉

if I see it anywhere online I’ll yell!

Drugstore. Prices are cheap. $5-$11 and skincare ranges from $8-$17. Etude House actually has small shops thus the name Etude “House”. But it’s basically drugstore you can say as it’s not available via a counter nor are the prices in matching with counter.

It’s surreal what shat we have here isn’t it? We have NOTHING like what’s available within Japan and Korea 🙁

  • the Muse

Hummmmmmming! Hi! how are you!? hugs back!

hehe a global cosmetic explorer me likey that title 🙂

I really thought this deserved a revisit and two reviews hehe!

I can’t wait for you to try it. I’d be interested to hear your review 🙂

Oh thanks for that! She has skinfood too!!!!!!! awesome!

Aww shucks thanks *blush* I thought it looked rather nice on but was worried I’d get comments about my blending skills sucking. Thanks for saying it was good *hugs*

Hehe it definately fills in pores and creates a beautiful canvas 😉

    Many hugs!

  • *Jen*

ugh the dilemma izzy! i’m DYING to get my hands on this but i’m really not a big fan of my korean cousins (long story but they’re very unpleasant people). i may just go the ebay route and pay that price, but it just seems so wrong 🙁

must think about this (well and study for exams!)

i hope you’ve been doing well, i’m absolutely LOVING your posts lately. btw the korean on that etude add makes me giggle.

  • *Jen*

sorry if my comment was a bit discombobulated. my mother just had some pretty bad second degree burns on her face and neck due to oil splattering while she was cooking, so i’m a mess!

  • Anne

    Hi Muse,

Thanks for reviewing the Pore Erasing Peach Base =D .Do you think it would be suitable for very dry skin and could you post the ingredients list?
    TIA ,Anne

  • Row

Pfffttt. Bit to much of a mark up for me, Cecil.

Nevermind will have to do with me usual Kanebo/Shiseido brands….tis enough for now!

  • Millie

    Miss Muse,
you have successfully added 2 new items to my “to buy” list when I go to Hong Kong next week, hopefully they sell Etude =) Anyway, I’m going to buy a new foundation when I get to Hong Kong, but I was never a regular foundation user, I only want it incase I go somewhere glamourous. Since I don’t want to look overly different with foundation on, would you say that the Etude peach products are good substitutes? I find that my cheeks are dry and i have the typical oily t-zone, so do you think the peach products would do me any good? Also, is there a foundation/powder shade from a well known Japanese brand that’s similar to the base and skin pact?
    Thanks Muse!

  • MandyPandy

Eff that! For $34.99 I damn well better be able to cut that crap into lines and snort it!

Doesn’t that eBay seller realize highway robbery is illegal in all 52 states?

Ah well, at least Etude has a catchy theme song: *something some something some, something some something some, BOOBY BOOBY OOH, something something something!*

    The videos are really amusing:

  • MandyPandy

PS: Check out those dance moves! Someone needs to give that painted queen his own variety show! I could watch that twinkie trip the light fantastique 24/7.

Mei Li could have a guest spot.

  • Beauty Addict

Oh Muse, u are creating a lemming for me! I have to much on my list already.

Btw, read on Cozy that RMK will be back in SG soon again! I’m gotta save up for their bases and foundation. Anyway, have u tried any base or foundation from RMK?

    Have a great weekend! 🙂

  • the Muse

    hey jen 🙂

Awww I’m so sorry to hear that Jen 🙁 Family can be the pits sometimes can’t they!?

Have you checked MUA out? Plenty of Korean natives that are willing to help out 😉

LOL get to your exams girlie. Stop thinking cosmetics 🙂

I’m good how about you!? Sorry for not visiting just been bloody swamped as hell!

I’m so pleased you’re enjoying the posts *blush*

    I love yours as well!

LOL made me laugh too. Korean Grease!

I just read this! Is she alright? Jeez 🙁

Do comment back and let me know if she’s ok! How upsetting!

well wishes for you and your mum Jen!

  • the Muse

    hi there anne!

You’re most welcome! It would be great for dry skin as I am dry skin and it works wonderfully well!

I’ll def post the what’s in it shortly. Can’t at the moment as I am at work but will do so tonight!

  • the Muse

    hey rows!

Ya big time 😛 ridiculously so!

Vivian had said she may carry Etude from facial shop so maybe you’ll get lucky 😉

  • the Muse

    hi there millie!

Good luck! I think maybe you’ll find it in HK without a problem!

I think the Etude Peach products would make a very nice, natural canvas for your blush. It’s not a heavy mask of foundation just a very nice dusting of powder and an underlay of a primer. I wore it without foundation on my FOTD and it worked wonderful.

My cheeks are dry as well. I suffer from an oily forehead. and found that both products worked fine!

Mmmmm…..I haven’t seen a substitute for the color in a Japanese base to be honest. as this has a faint beige peachy color and I haven’t really seen a similar shade but than again that’s only going by swatches as whenever I purchase powder from Japan I go with the lightest shade available. Powders aren’t always flattering on me from Japan since they are geared towards a yellow skin tone which I don’t possess. I’m more of a medium skin tone with fair undertones.

If I think of any foundation powders that I own that are similar in color I’ll def let you know but as far as I know I haven’t really seen such a peachy beige prior to this!

  • the Muse

    hey mandy!

    agreed LOL! It’s ridiculously high!

LMAO well at least we have a translation!

The videos are bloody cute lol!

  • the Muse

PS I’m particularly in love with the way they say Etutidee Hause!

  • the Muse

    hey gracie! Happy Monday!

Teehee!!!!!!!!!! I love creating evil lemmings 🙂

I heard the same which is exciting as I can have someone CP for me w00t!

Nope not foundation or base just eyeshadows and glosses. Hmmmm I should try some!
    Hope your weekend was wonderful!

  • *Jen*

thanks for the concern you’re always the sweetest! i was panicked at the time but thankfully everything seems to be as okay as possible. a good portion of the top layers of the skin on her face and neck were burned away, she had to go to the ER and get a shot of some sort and everything, but the doctor told us if she’s careful with keeping it moist, clean, and out of the sun, it shouldn’t scar.

i’m just so relieved that she’s okay and it wasn’t any worse-it definitely could’ve been a huge disaster!

  • the Muse

hi jen I was very concerned and I’m happy to hear she’s ok!

I’m just happy that it won’t scar. Good lord That would be so scary and dramatizing for her 🙁

    Doesn’t bear thinking about!

When she’s less raw have her use a tiny bit of dream cream. People swear by it for scars, stretch marks, etc..not now as I imagine it’s still a bit of an open wound but later on when it’s dry.

    Poor thing!

Give her the Muse’s love for a speedy recovery!

    I’m just glad she’s ok!

  • christine

I really want to buy the pore erasing peach base but I believe its been discontinued! (it has been about 2 years after all) but I really want to buy it still, as I know someone somewhere must still have it! Does anyone know?!

    • the Muse

      hi christine

I believe it’s still available as far as I know? but not sure as we don’t have EH stores in the US. perhaps check ebay!

      • christine

really? Ive checked everywhere on ebay but I cant seem to find it! and all the online websites seem to have it out of stock! apparently the peach line is getting discontinued 🙁

        • the Muse

hi christine that’s a shame it’s one of my fav collections from EH

  • Kat

Hi Muse! We recently had several Etude House branches open in our country and I’ve been researching and stumbled on your blog! Great review!

My question is, can I use BB Cream after the base and then the powder after, or is that overkill already?

    • the Muse

not at all kat that’s fine 😀

  • Laa

    Hii muse,,
I love to read your reviews..It makes me want to try all make up that you recommend. .:-)
but I’m confuse to choose one of them..
I have very very oily and dull skin..
According to you,, which one is the best for me: this product,,BB magic or BB mineral??
    I’ve tried many foundation before..but they’re disappointing..
Make my skin more oily, dull and fade only in the few hour..
please reply this comment..I really need your help.. x_x
    Thank you siiis… *kisskiss*

P.S.: sorry for my english,, I can’t speak english good enough..;p LOL

    • the Muse

      hi laa

      how are you?

I really don’t have a recommendation or suggestion. BB Creams are something you have to try for yourself hun as they really do react differently on different skin types, tones, etc… it’s kinda a hit or miss. I don’t even know your skin tone you’ve just said you are dull and oily, even though bb’s are universal sometimes shades are too light for certain tones etc…that’s why I don’t really recommend them online as it’s hard to say what will work for who.

Sorry!! I wish I could be of more help!

      Your english is fine 🙂

  • Maria

I was wondering if you have found any other Korean products that work as well as the Etude House peach base. I know this post was done in 2008, and I am currently in Korea. I have been looking in Etude House stores and on Gmarket, and I can’t find it anywhere. Anyways, I have super oily skin and HUGE pores, and I’m looking for something relatively affordable (and in Korea) that I can use.

    Thanks so much!

  • Siyuan

How lucky we’ve got Etude House all over in China!
I’m trying to decide between Peach Skin Pact and Collagen Essence-in Pact. I’ve dry skin so that I always look for products with a good moisturizing effect. It seems the Peach powder has a very good lasting power but is it dry after a few hours?
