The Muse Featured on The Beauty of Life

The Beauty of Life is on my daily reading list so I was honored and flattered when it’s editor, Jamie, asked if I’d like to participate in her First Look Fridays post.

The First Look Friday entries are posted each Friday and feature a different blog and interview with it’s editor each week! It’s a really fun way to find out more about the author behind some of your favorite Beauty Blogs!

If you ever wondered how Musings began, or who the Muse really is, what blogs I am reading, or just more information in general about me you can hop on over to Jamie’s site, The Beauty of Life, and check out my Q&A session with her!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. If you’re that person feel free to reach out and leave a comment or follow me on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Bloglovin‘.

Ok Musey, this is waaaayyyy too scary!

I too am in the totally opposite of the beauty industry, AKA INSURANCE! I am a Personal Lines Manager at an independent insurance agency.

BTW, we are WAY too fabulous to be sitting behind a desk all day! I see us strolling in NYC shopping, *sigh* such dreams!!

Oh- I was able to do a swap CP with the FAB Aya (Irodori) for MJ mascara! I cannot wait! *happy dance*

Loved your interview!! It’s the Izzy we know and love – can’t wait for more dish from you girl!

  • Dancinggal

    Hi Muse,

Loved the interview, was very interesting to learn some new stuff about you! Will have to start paying attention to some of the stuff you review from Asia, although it sounds like their make up is way more amazing than ours!

Am definately now in that category of people who check here before I buy. Or check here and then go buy for no good reason on my lunch break, he he he.

    Luv ya!

  • Askmewhats

aww I have read this and I enjoyed reading your answers..makes me get to know you more 🙂

  • Emma

That was interesting and answered some of my nosy questions. I wanted to know how you afford all the makeup!

I would love to see a photo of all the makeup you own, I bet you have loads 🙂

  • the Muse

    morning Tammy!

OH MY GOD! No freaking WAY! I never meet anyone in my industry!

Do you do any commercial? Our main source of income is from commercial liability for limos, taxis, etc..! Maybe we can work together on something hehe! We are always looking for new markets for commercial biz!

But of course we are hehe. Damn them for confining us to a desk! We should be strolling down the catwalk in Paris!

Aya is such a doll! 🙂 She’s a sweetie and so helpful!

I can’t wait to hear what you think of the mascara 😉 Hopefully it’ll be HG for ya!

  • the Muse

    good morning my cookie 🙂

Aww thanks hun! *hugs* We should interview each other one day and cross post hehe!

  • the Muse

    morning dancingal!

Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed reading about boring old me 😉

Oh yes much better quality 🙂 Do take a look through my old tags for “Japanese Brands” or “Korean Brands” plenty of reading and reviews hehe and some videos too!

    Love ya back!

  • the Muse

    morning nikki!

Aww I’m glad you liked it! It’s a nice personal article. I particularly enjoyed her questions about how Musings started!

    Thanks for reading!

  • Tammy M

Yup, we do commercial here too! So ironic, isn’t it? It’s a smaller agency, about 15 people including the owners (2). Too funny that we are in the same industry.

Not too many taxis down here, like in NY! Mostly we deal with property…but with being in the hurricane zone, work can be so stressful!

But, it keeps me in MAC and lovely makeup 🙂

We must try and attend some boring insurance convention together, and sneak off and go shopping!

  • the Muse

HA Tammy! This is so funny!

It’s just me and my sister here. My dad sometimes pops in the help here and there as well. He owns a limo/taxi company so he knows the biz really well!

You’re lucky as our property business isn’t so hot here 🙁 We also took a major blow on personal insurance lines with geico lowballing everyone. We used to write a great percentage of business with AutoOne and the AR before Geico scooped in and took away so much business from us 🙁

Sometimes me and Jo (that’s my sis) feel like we’d be in trouble if we did have the huge book of business we do with taxis/limos. Because it’s so difficult to write regular lines. Especially property. The GL on property here is really ridiculous especially for commercial buildings.

People simply can’t believe that it can cost them quite a chunk of change for a three family home just for liability!!!!!

OH lord don’t laugh! There was one in AC recently. My sis was going to go to meet up with her underwriter/friend from a commercial company we use for limos/taxis. It was the week I was away but it was so hot that she didn’t bother going!

LOL they have them all the time in Atlantic City..perfect location to sneak away shopping 😉

I think it’s hysterical you’re in my line of biz! Most everyone in our line of work aren’t too into the cosmetic world hehe!

  • Tammy M

I agree with most of us not being into make up and such! However, we must be ourselves (lovely make up and all!) no matter where we are, I am sure you would agree!

I would LOVE to go to AC for a convention, but… I doubt they would go for it!

Next time you come down to FL or I go to NY, we MUST meet up!

  • the Muse

    ABSOLUTELY =-)

The insurance world has us to contend with us as proof that color is awesome 🙂

Aw shucks. That’s ok let’s go anyway hehe!

YES 😉 I go to Florida at least once a year so it shouldn’t be a prob 😉

MAC needs to open a shop in downtown disney so I can get my disney on as I shop for MAC 😉

  • Tammy M

Oh so true! Although, the Prime Outlets aren’t too far from Disney, so you can hit a CCO!

And then there is the MAC Pro store in the Mall of the Milennia! Haven’t been there yet, but….

  • Haru

    Dear Izzy,

That was a wonderful read and I had absolutely no idea that Rouge Deluxe is your first stop of the day! Thank you so much for the great compliment! Your blog is usually the first one that I stop by too, except when weekends when you take a break (and I miss it sorely!). Keep up the great work, dear!

  • the Muse

    hey tammy!

I never been to any outlet shopping in florida before..normally I hit up all the expensive crap 😛

I need to head into the outlets bet I can nab mega stealzzzzzz!

    w00t pro!

  • the Muse

    Iris,

I adore you love. I love your blog 🙂 It’s always my first stop! I’m so happy you’re back and blogging strong as I missed you when you were busy!

You were one of the people that inspired me to begin my own blog!

    *hugs*

aw shucks thanks for missin’ me 😉

Sorry I’ve been out of touch lately. I’ve been swamped as hell!

between blogging, work, and life in general :P!

    Hope you’re well!
