Musings of the Day: Set It and Forget It?

I’m curious how everyone will answer this Musing today! Do you set your foundation with powder? I know many if you that have oily skin will answer a solid yes but what about those of you with dry skin?

Find out my answer below!

I have dry skin a majority of the time and sometimes a little oily come Summer. For a rather long time I always applied my liquid or cream foundation and didn’t bother setting with powder aside from a teeny tiny amount down the sides of my nose. Just the last few months I started setting with powder and love the results. I still hate the fact that powder makes my dry skin all flaky in certain places but I love the fresher, cleaner look of my makeup thanks to the powder and the fact that it makes my foundation last a bit longer.

What about you?

Do you set with powder?

I’m especially curious about to hear about those with dry skin!

I read about a technique for using powder to set foundation in a book that sounds interesting- You use a circular sponge to swipe up some powder and curl it around your finger and press & roll the powder on in quick motions- it’s supposed to set the makeup longer & I want to try because my skin gets flaky too and I’ve noticed that sometimes using a brush accentuates the flakes :/ What foundation do you like best when your skin is flaky? Do you ever get a completely clean application or are some spots still flaky-looking no matter what you use? I’m curious because I find it hard to get around unless I shower before bed and apply makeup when I get up.

lorraine I use BB cream for my base about 90% of the time so that pretty much covers me for flake-proof coverage 😀 no flakes at all thanks to super creamy bb’s 😀 best way to keep the flakes at bay is good serum and moisturizer at night, followed up with light moisturizer and primer in the am, plus a mist if you’re using powder as a base 😀

have you tried skindinavia’s mists? i don’t know about the fresher, cleaner look (gives me a dewy, luminous look but I don’t know about you) but they def make your fdtn last for-freaking-ever. the moisture lock one leaves my skin (as flaky as a wafer) smooooooth and leaves me dewy and luminous for about sixteen hours.

no way am I affiliated with this company, just thought I’d let you know 🙂
