the Balm Cabana Boy Review

If you’re new around these parts you may have missed the drama surrounding the Balm Cabana Boy. Dude, oh my god, so difficult to find. Sephora had released info on it early this Summer but ever after that it was removed and no word about it was around. I later discovered it on a few websites but failed to order it. Finally Sephora slapped it back up and I recently hauled it…ok not so recent, ’bout a month ago. I was quite in love with the Balm Down Boy and of course when I laid eyes on Cabana Boy I got that singing in my blood that was screaming, “Must Have….Must Have…” I imagine you know the sound of that voice in your head that mimics that of a zombie demanding brains for dinner…yes well I get like that with makeup sometimes but it doesn’t come out “Brains………Brains…..” it comes out “Makeup….Makeup…..”

Fact of the matter is when the Balm releases powder blushes in any form I’m normally on line to purchase as they always turn into something very special. And of course the Balm Cabana Boy Blush is special.

Check it after the jump!

Hope you hauled it because it’s gorg. Housed in the traditional Balm packaging with a flip top design, full size mirror, sturdy cardboard packaging, and ever popular vintage style glam girl on the cover this blush rules my universe at the moment. I admit I’m ever so partial to the Balm’s packaging as it has that vintage feel I absolutely adore. The blush can be used on eyes or cheeks, haven’t tried on my eyes yet but on my cheeks it fairly sizzles.

The Balm Cabana Boy Blush 3

It could be compared to Benefit Dallas in some cases but technically not so much as the shade is very unique and very different from anything else I own. Ahh the shade, the shade….let’s see…it’s a dusky rose with a certain warmth that manages to be both warm and cool in tone. Ideal for the Summer (long since gone sadly) it’ll give a warm rosy glow and fantastic for the Winter as it’ll give a just pinched finish. The formula is silky smooth and blends easily onto cheeks and face. Plenty of pigmentation here so slowly build up color as needed.

Overall…absolute love and Muse Approval for purchase.

It’s fierce packaging is tops with this Muse plus I felt the shade was very unique and different. the Balm excels at creating incredibly fun and wearable shades of blush. It’s $20 and mighty inexpensive in my humblest. You need it in your life.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I love EVERYTHING from TheBalm!! I have the other two blushes, some eyeshadow, and most of the BalmShelter glosses, plus the LE lip treatment. I really need Cabana Boy now…looks like it’d be perfect for winter.

    • the Muse

me too marley! Cabana Boy is all kinds of delicious you’ll love it 😀

I haven’t tried the glosses but must add them to my list 😀

  • Mollie

The Balm rocks! I loooooove them to death. Not to mention they donate a lot of money to puppy rescues! =)

Cabana Boy is actually probably my perfect blush color. I think I shall try this.

Some of my favorites? Time Balm under-eye concealer is pretty rad. I had to get used to it first, but after about six weeks of use, I’m hooked. I also like their Vegan Lip Treatment, which is, wonderfully, what generates the money for the doggie rescues.

      hey mollie!

agreed 😀 and so awesome that they donate to such a worthy cause 😀 I like the vegan lippie treatment too, very good stuff 😀

looking at this, the color reminds me of my favorite loreal blush, mocha rose, only rosier. i love the saying printed inside the case “so many men..” 🙂

      • michelley

its one of those compacts that comes with a flat brush, and i loooove that brush, its so soft<33

        • the Muse

oh I think I know the ones u are talkin’ about and even have a few 😀

  • Anna

I just purchased this from Beauty Bar in the Philippines oh my gosh this is now my favorite blush!!

    • the Muse

awesome Anna ;-D don’t forget to try hot mama from the balm, awesome shade ;D and down boy!

  • Anna

Yes I saw those blushes too! Hot Mama is similar to Nars Orgasm right? And down boy is a very nice neutral pink shade 🙂 I will buy them as soon as I have save up for them! Too many lemmings my gosh!

    • the Muse

haha Anna tell me about it, my lemming list is absurd. Hot Mama is indeed like Orgasm but way more pigmented and down boy is a very soft pink. I have swatches/pics up somewhere if you need ’em ;D!

  • inj

Great color accuracy! Everyone else made it look so red but it really isnt! I wanted it to be red but I’m not gonna return it lol……..pinkish with purple sheen but a biiiit red when wet
