Musings of the Day: The Mailman Cometh!

I admit it, I’m a chronic online shopper. I actually LIKE shopping online more than I do in store. Books, groceries, DVD’s, and most important of all, makeup all wings it’s way to my front door in a big brown box labeled, “The Muse, Handle with Care”

There are so many shops I avoid because I don’t like pushy sales people, I’m talking to YOU Bath and Body Works. So I get my fix online where I don’t have to run away from a sales rep trying to spray me down with their latest fragrance all while tucking things into my cart I don’t want!

Today’s musings is all about that fantastic guy (or girl) who delivers your packages daily.

Do you stalk your mailman!?

Jump!

No, actually my mail man stalks me and asks me out on dates. LOL! True story! My UPS guy, such a cute guy, has asked me out three different times already. So now who’s doing the stalkin’!

Anyway!

Honestly, I do stalk my mail girl though….actually not so much my mail girl but definitely the UPS, no not in the way, and the Fed Ex guy! Totally track packages three of four times a day when I know they are no where near ready to arrive. I always ask my UPS/Fed Ex guy if they have anything for me when I see them in my neighborhood…yes it’s a disease. I could be arrested for stalking them!

So yes, I stalk my mail people.

Do you stalk your mail man for your lovely little packages?

Admit it, you know you do!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I like shopping online more than in stores, too. I really don’t like to be bothered while I’m browsing, AND I love getting things in the mail. I don’t stalk the mail people too much, but I will check the tracking on a package a million times, and if I know they’re coming I’ll keep the blinds open so I can see the truck pulling up.

    • the Muse

me too mayrei, me too! LOL! 😀 but that is kinda stalkin’ isn’t it? I do the same with tracking, I check a million times 🙂 I have some stuff coming from Hong Kong and checked the tracking about 4 times already today!

      How sad :-D!

  • suz

SURE DO!!! He already knows majority and almost every single big packages he gets…it’s for only one member in the family….THATS ME!!! If he see’s me he tells me if I’ve gotten them!!! hahaha..if I don’t get my things I get cranky with family about not opening the door in time or not waiting on my package!

  • Marcy

You didn’t reveal Muse if you said to your UPS guy? 😛
I live in a semi rural area… it’s a bit hard to stalk people especially if you’re on foot and the delivery people are in vans and mopeds Lol

    • the Muse

oh that’s for me to know and for you to find out Marcy LOL! aw damn! You should get a mo-ped, jump on, and race after your mail person!

  • dangster

I do most of my shopping (clothing and beauty stuff) online too, mostly because I never have time to go to the mall. Every time I get a package, it’s like Christmas all over again!

  • BeautyBitch

The day that I was expecting delivery of the last Harry Potter book is one of the most shameful moments of my life. Not only did I stalk my mail man, when I suspected for the tiniest second that he’d gone missing, I not only went to the sorting office (way too early) but I LIED about having a crying child at home to try and emotionally blackmail the staff at the post office into calling the mail man on his mobile phone. I have no children. I’m pretty sure that lying about distressed children for personal gain gets me a ticket to hell.

Needless to say, no-one believed me and I was sent home redfaced. I then saw the mail man just as I was turning into my road and I RAN and chased him down the street. (And I NEVER run). The poor man looked terrified.

      O
      M
      G!

BESTEST story EVER bora LOL! I was the same with Harry Potter but didn’t like about a crying child LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that’s hysterical!

      LOL wow. just wow.

and the sad part is harry potter wasn’t even worth it. the last book was kinda meh wasn’t it?

      • BeautyBitch

You know, years later, I’m STILL not sure how I feel about the last book. Not having the kids at Hogwarts for most of the story sucked and the book wasn’t paced very well: dragged in the middle but then felt ridiculously rushed at the end. But there was lots to get my teeth into and all my questions were answered so it did feel like closure. (Lack of closure is my pet hate in books).

        • the Muse

hey bora still not sure how I feel about it either. I hated the lack of Hogwarts scenes as well and felt like the entire “adventure” part of the story dragged on and when we did get to the action and epic scenes it was a complete and utter fail! I did feel a little lacking…I dunno why but…I felt like I didn’t get complete closure!

  • Heather / Eyeconic

Oh gosh BABW employees are so pushy! I don’t need a huge bag to hold my 2 shower gels… and that’s sooo funny about your mailman! Yesterday when there was a UPS truck two houses down from mine, I was watching it from my window, thinking “They must have the wrong house, it’s this one”! I can recognize the sounds of their truck and I get all excited… I know you can too Muse, admit it. 😛

    • the Muse

tell me ’bout it heather. scary pushy! 🙁 LOL I do, I admit I do listen for the sound of the truck and race to the window when I hear it LOL!!!!!!!!!!

  • Kiradris

ITA, I love online shopping as opposed to in-store shopping. It’s such a nice treat to receive a package containing goodies after a long day of work – kind of reminds me of getting care packages when I was in summer camp!

Don’t stalk my mailman though, since I need to have most of my items shipped to work, which has turned rather awkward – I really don’t need my coworkers and bosses knowing about shopping habits, but I have no choice since I am never home during the weekdays!

    • the Muse

Me too Kira! It’s the best getting a big old package 😀 LOL your coworkers are going to get wind of it and want you to share with them 😀

  • Kate

I don’t stalk my mail peeps. (I don’t have anything sent to work, and they usually have come and gone to my house by the time I get home.) I DO obsessively look at online tracking for any packages (sometimes checking three or four times a day) and get upset when an order doesn’t have a tracking number.

    • the Muse

hey kate! Normally I’m not home either for mail but the UPS guy usually shows up just when I am driving in from work so I def stalk him to see what goodies he’s bringing :_D ugh I hate that! Also hate when tracking doesn’t show on the USPS site! GRR!

  • Lisa Kate

Haha YES!! I actually did this yesterday. Everytime I heard a truck, I raced outside to see if it was the UPS guy! I had to leave for work at 3pm and was totally disappointed when he didn’t come…then hubby texts me to say I got, not one, but TWO packages!!

Also, I’m pretty sure my normal USPS guy hates me…A lot. He’s SO RUDE and instead of walking down the 3 steps to my apartment (like the old mailman did…sigh), he lays on the buzzer so I walk up to him. Which is NOT COOL when you work nights and sleep during the day! Plus, I always see him reading the newspaper in his truck…which you know, totally pisses me off cause mailmen here get paid a buttload of money (my husband’s uncle is one and has a freakin’ huge house!). I think it pisses him off that I get mail so often.

I also stalk my online purchases to see if they were sent yet. Right now I’m waiting on one that said it was going to be sent Tuesday, but I haven’t even gotten a tracking number yet! Waaaah!!!

    • the Muse

LOL lisa that’s the best feeling in the world…waiting for one and two or three arrrive!!!!!!!!!! Thankfully my UPS guy is lovely as is my normal mail girl USPS but the fed guy is sometimes iffy! He’s a bit lazy and tosses stuff on my porch and in most cases breaks things 🙁 really ranty ’bout that!

I’m awaiting something from China and getting antsy for it too so I know the feeling as it’s not showing up in tracking for me LOL! same situation I’m in!

  • Tanya

My grandpa is a retired mailman, so I think stalking mail carriers/UPS workers is in my blood. I’m even waiting for a UPS package right now. 🙂

  • Marina

It’s more fun to order online and wait; it builds the anticipation! Even though sometimes the wait can be agonizing!!!

  • Vicky

    Hi,

I actually sort of do that since I’m always very excites when PR send stuff to try out. I’m not as friendly though with the mailman ( UPS dude and USPS dude) so I don’t always ask.

    • the Muse

me too vicky! 😀 I’m pretty friendly with the mail folk 😀 Hard not to be when I seen them so often!

  • Emily

I actually don’t do very much online-shopping, but I probably should do more of it since there are so many items I can’t find in stores. :/

  • Chelsea

I am all about shopping online. I hate dealing with parking, crowds, and pushy sales people. And I’ve always had a crush on mail. I’m probably the only person in America under 60 who still pays my bills via mail instead of online. I just like mailing stuff.

My old mailman was mean. One time I was extry excited about his arrival because I was expecting a Lush UK order, but my dog was in the yard (with me!) so he refused to deliver it! Violet is sweet and gentle and totally ignored him, but she’s a pit bull, so he was convinced she was plotting against him. He once wrote a hate note about her in big letters on the back of my J. Crew catalog, and wouldn’t deliver my mail unless she was inside the house. He’d come into my yard with his pepper spray drawn.

    • the Muse

pushy sales people for sure Chel 🙁 LOL do you really? I don’t even have a checkbook anymore 😀 Just pay online!

Omg! Sorry to hear about your mail man! I used to have a fed ex guy who tossed stuff on my porch from the street, few feet, it was awful 🙁 he broke most everything he delivered, was truly crummy!

  • SilhouetteScreams

I dont stalk my mailman to this extent, but I always pull the curtains aside like a stalker and stare at him driving past on his little motorbike.

    • the Muse

lol silhouette that is somewhat stalk-y 😀 but it’s ok! I watch mine walk around outside and hold my breath until she drops off my packages 😀 haha!

  • Jean

Let’s just say there is nothing like hearing that truck drive up or coming home to find a box at the door. It’s always so exciting even if you know what’s in it!

  • Nunu

My mailman is this mysterious entity whom no1 has ever seen, kinda like Father Christmas really.
He brings me goodies n fun things while leaving the bf bills xD.
According to my parents, I used to sit under the mail slot waiting for the mail to come as a toddler. Does this mean I was a underage stalker?

    • the Muse

LOL nunu that’s kinda fun dude! “=D LOL! yes indeed even back than you were a stalker! For shame!
