Beauty on a Budget: Covergirl WetSlicks Amazemint

Oh my loving the idea of combining fresh breath with my lip glosses. There’s always some gimmick to be had isnt there? And I admit I totally buy into it all which is why when I seen Covergirl WetSlicks Amazemint Lipgloss I was on top of it.

Jump!

What is it?

Why, its a full color lip gloss with a minty fresh taste thats supposed to freshen your breath and give you glossy lips! Might as well kill two birds with one stone right?

The Good….

The formula is infused with Crest Peppermint Oil so it gives a super fresh taste to the gloss plus has a slight tingle. Whether it freshens my breath or not remains to be seen but the novelty is simply too cute, what? I love cute stuff. Its quite tasty and quite strongly scented so I imagine it might give off a very faint pepperminty aroma if anyone comes near enough to take a little sniff. The two shades I tried were both highly pigmented so I deem it a full color gloss. Both shades apply as seen in the tube which is a plus as I do not need lipstick or stain underneath to aid the color in showing up. It gives lips a nice slick feels but nothing crazy glossy or mirror-like in finish, more along the lines of moisturizing and slippery for me. I tried Merry Berry which is a rosy peach shade and Everythings Rosy which is a nice pearl pink shade. Merry Berry was my fav of the two as its a unique shade that leans towards being peachy and rosy, pretty.

The Bad….

The formula feels quite light and lovely on the lips but does run towards being runny and thin in its consistency. It also lacks a sticky, tacky feel which ends up making the gloss wear for a very short time. Id say wear time was an hour at most maybe two if you got lucky!

Who Might Like It?

  • Anyone who likes a full color lipgloss.
  • Anyone who likes a gloss thats light and fresh sans a sticky, tacky texture!
  • Anyone who enjoys a cheaper gloss that wont break the beauty budget.
  • Anyone who enjoys the novel idea of a gloss that freshens your breath!

Who Might Not Like It?

  • Anyone who likes their gloss to wear long.
  • Anyone whos a bit sensitive to strongly scented lipgloss.
  • Anyone who doesnt like peppermint flavored lipgloss.

Final Thoughts….

I generally liked the gloss and thought it was great for days Im not sporting full makeup or for tucking into my bag or desk drawer for quickie touch ups. Its wear time stinks so I cant make full use of it on days Im wanting my makeup to stick around for a while as it simply wears down way too quickly. But for a splash of color on my lips really quick I think its a fab a little gloss and the price cant be beat at around $5 or less. If youre looking for something inexpensive to keep around for quickie touch ups this might fill the need. Quite a nice gloss and would be near perfect if it wore longer!

    Oh, finally! Breath refreshing idea!
I feel bad to tell, but every single lipstick/gloss/balm makes my mouth taste sour and probably (I assume) smell bad, even tho until then I smelled fresh/neutral! Does anyone else on this planet has this problem? Even expensive products have this effect on me! @_@
So sorry for wanting to discuss such a gross thing, but I’m starting to think that lip products are better to avoid…for me at least >_<

i kinda want to try it. maybe i’ll wait until i can get a discount and get it dirt cheap. just got the cover girl lip slicks last night and i kinda like it. its basically a tinted lip balm. you should try it out and let us know what you think. 🙂

I like the original Covergirl Wetslicks, so I might give these a try. 🙂

    I love your reviews!

I thought I wouldn’t like these, since I don’t really like the Wetslicks glosses, but I ended up really enjoying the one I got! It is nice and minty and has a lot more color than I had expected. And since it’s so cheap I never worry about using it up. XD

I’m actually a huge fan of these glosses, i just throw one in my purse and im good to go. I love the minty smell, the texture of the gloss and how it feels on my lips. although i do wish it had better staying power.
