Beauty on a Budget: Jesse’s Girl Lip Juice Strawberry Review and Swatches

I gotta say naming a product “Lip Juice” kinda grosses me out, oh god the traumatizing childhood memories!

Gross story time.

When I was in the 7th Grade I went to a really tiny private Catholic School (ironically I’m agnostic, blame my parents for my their crazy education plans for me), we had like 9 kids in our graduating class, crazy right? Anyway, it was only 3 girls about 6 guys one of which was named John. John was gay and hung out with the chicks in our class at all times. He had a pretty full set of silver in his mouth (braces) and was REALLY animated when he chatted it up with us. Moral of the story he let the spit fly and we got treated to a nice shower during our conversations. Ha! We started calling him lip juice, no worries was all in good fun because actually, to this day, I still talk to John we even went to college together and took alot of the same classes….best part? I still call him lip juice on occasion when he’s being annoying.

Somethings you never live down.

Anyway…’bout that Jesse’s Girl Lip Juice….if you take the gross factor out you might have a nice little beauty budget piece on your hands!

Check it!

What is it?

A full color lip gloss in a variety of shades for a buck .99!

The Good…

I was pretty delighted with this! I think the greatest thing about it would be its pigmentation. The product is a full color gloss so the color you see in the tube is the color you’ll get on your lips, pretty fab considering many lip products are a little misleading and end up pretty sheer and subtle. This has incredible color pay off and leaves lips quite shiny and glossy. Formula is comfortable to wear minus any stickiness or tackiness plus the shade I got, Strawberry, was a nice shade of warm berry for my lips. Pretty!

The Bad…

The flavor of the gloss is a bit odd as its supposed to come off as strawberry but tastes a little plastic-y. Also the wear time needs improvement as the formula is thick but still doesn’t manage to stay around long and has a tendency to migrate around your lips a fair bit so it ends up above your lip line, on your chin, etc…not pretty. I’d suggest using a transparent lip liner to prep lips and keep the gloss from journeying around your entire face.

Who might like it?

  • Chicks who love cute gloss!
  • Anyone seeking an inexpensive gloss to hydrate lips and offer full color!

Who might not love it?

  • Anyone who can’t stand flavored, scented lip products.
  • Anyone who has fine lines or wrinkles in and around their lips (this gloss will have a field day when working on that type of surface).

Final Thoughts….

Price is right so I’d say worth a little pick up if you’re wanting a cute, inexpensive gloss. Duly impressed that it was full color but formula does need a little tweaking to make it perfect. Its nice and for the cash you can’t really lose anything by trying out for yourself.

Cute, not going to rock your lip gloss world but may make you happy you purchased it.

Haha I have this one in watermelon, which YOU do as well! I think you’ve mistaken it for strawberry! I was trying to find a good tint for my lips, but I don’t end up reaching for this since it doesn’t smell as delicious as I hoped it would.

OMG, I’m totally feelin’ ya about Catholic school! It had the complete opposite affect on me as well. What the hell were our parents thinking! About the gloss…a little Too Faced Borderline will help prevent that I- just-stuck-my-face-in-a-jelly-jar look 🙂
