Beauty News: Soap & Glory No Longer Available At Target Come September

Stop the press.

I nearly sobbed myself silly when I read this beauty news.

Soap & Glory has announced the following on their website:

But why, you may ask, are we mentioning this now?

Of late, several Yankee Soap & Glory girls have enquired as to why they can no longer find all the same Soap & Glory products that used to be stocked in your local Target shops.

Truth be told, after three fantastic years–during which Target gave us some very nice, wide shelves, and we delivered them boxes of cool, bubbling Britannia–we’ve decided to branch out and sharpen our focus – to shops that focus on beauty.

Soap & Glory is not going away. You’ll still be able to buy it. We are not up and whipping our SUGAR CRUSH off the shelf, never to return Stateside.

(In fact, Ladies, it’s all of you who have caused this upheaval – buying THE RIGHTEOUS BUTTER and SEXY MOTHER PUCKER LIP PLUMPERS with such reckless abandon that forced us to rethink our entire US strategy.) So…

Soap & Glory will be available in Target until the end of September (2010), or until they run out of whatever Soap & Glory they’ve currently got in stock. (May we gently remind you all that PANICKING IS NOT GOING TO HELP ANYONE IN THIS SITUATION.) Go out. Stock up. Get what you need. Sign up for our newsletter, and we’ll announce our new retailer partners as soon as we’ve got the deals ‘inked’.

Now I like to get all the newest Soap & Glory bits as quickly as they come out so I normally haul it hard from the UK when I can. However, this can run into pricey airmail fees so my staple products are picked up at Target when available but now they are saying I can’t hit up Target for my fix?

I’m curious who they might be partnering up with.

What do you think?

Where will your favorite Soap & Glory products new home be?

I’ll update as soon as I hear the good word!

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. ” we’ve decided to branch out and sharpen our focus – to shops that focus on beauty.”

this stuck out to me. I don’t know… do you think maybe Ulta or Sephora?

    • the Muse

Jo I was thinking that but hoping NOT because it would be costly at Sephora but Ulta could be promising!

  • beeks

From the sound of that press release, it seems like they might have loftier goals than the shelves of Wal-Mart. I wonder if they’re thinking more along the lines of Sephora? Here in Canada, they carry S&G at Shoppers Drug Mart, and also at their sister store, which is called Murale. Murale is sort of like Sephora, but with a broader range of price points (I have to admit, I prefer Murale). It seems like they’re leaning toward more of a boutique environment than a one-stop-megashop. Either way, I hope they don’t stop carrying it at SDM!

Beeks I was reading it and thought the same but I was hopeful not because it would be considerably costly if they bring it into Sephora.

  • Phyrra

I’m thinking they’ll be hitting Ulta.
However, I’m sad they won’t be at Target!
    I <3 my Target.

    • the Muse

me too dd 🙁 dunno what I’ll do without S&G at Target! I sweat Target!

      • Phyrra

It’s funny, I still want to see the new Hard Candy, but I hate going to Walmart, and the awesome Super Target is just so much closer to my home that I always go there. Thinking of Soap & Glory not being at Target any longer is just such sadness.

        • the Muse

hey dd hitting up wally world today unfortunately lol! I HATE the evil empire but I need some HC for a friend visiting 😛 but ugh totally can relate to the dislike! Target please start carrying HC!

  • Jeweled Thumb

My first thought was ULTA since they carry quite a few other mid-range skincare and bath and body items like Ahava, Korres, etc. I’m not sure I’d continue to purchase if they raised the prices much higher to be honest but we’ll see I guess. I am looking forward to when Target will likely put the items on clearance though!

    • the Muse

jeweled thumb I’m honestly unsure if I’d indulge if the prices were higher as I think they are right at the point range I like. Target already started clearancing a fair bit hun! check out the sale end cap in beauty you’ll find a bit 😀

  • Tango

My money’s on Ulta! Since they want to move up to stores that focus on beauty, and Sephora doesn’t seem like their style. In Chicago at least, Ulta’s got more stores in more places, with better sales and promotions than Sephora. In the meantime, I’m looking forward to trying new S&G items off the clearance shelf!

    • the Muse

tango looks like it 😀 let’s see!!!!!!!!

and hells yes sale is good 😀

  • Kaylynrenee

My very 1st comment. Love the blog, Muse. You make me “Lol” on the regular :0)

Never tried S&G products though *gasp*! Quick, recommendations please!

  • Holly

i’m betting on Ulta or Sephora. I’m thinking it could possibly go to both, or even one of the CVS with more makeup-y type stuff. It’s a lower price point than many items at Sephora, but I think would fit around the same price as teh Sephora brand stuff.

  • Ashley

No! This is such a bummer. Whenever I hit up the U.S. I go to Target because CVS, Walgreens, Wal-Mart & Ulta are harder for me to get to! There isn’t much variety of S&G products at Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada. I can only get my real fix at Target and now I can’t ='[

  • PJ

Ahhh so that’s why the Body Butter I picked up was on clearance. Dang I should have bought 2! This sucks. I really like their Fab Pore too. If I was a betting man, I would say it will pop up at Ulta or CVS’s Beauty 360. I just hope they don’t raise the prices!

    • the Muse

i hope not either pj! I’m betting 360 locations and ulta!

  • Comrade_Garlic

It sounds like they are going back to their roots. S&G was in Barney’s when they first came here. So maybe they are going for a SpaceNK, Blue Mercury or Beauty 360.

    • the Muse

barneys?!?!??!?!? where the hell was I? I never seen S&G at Barney’s!? whoa!

      • Comrade_Garlic

Yeah, that’s where I got my Sexy Mother Pucker set. I was kind of pissed when it showed up at Target. It gave me no real excuse to make the trek to Barney’s. Let’s face it, S&G was one of the few things I could buy there.

        • the Muse

wow comrade newssssssss to me this is rather awesome, barney’s ha!

  • Melissa

sob sob sniffle hiccup. Where oh where will i get my flake off. scrubby stuff and the new fabulous heated mask that actually gets hot. ugh… I’m gonna use some now and sulk. Actually, I’m thinking that blissworld.com since they sell all the “bliss” related lines. I’m also thinking ULTA and the likes since she said “beauty focused’ I hope that where ever they end up, it is available in AZ. 🙂

  • Karen Ruby

I love this product and am worried it will cost more wherever it shows up. I tell everyone I know about it. Mmmmmmm.

  • Nancy Fisher

It’s been a long time…has anybody heard where S&G will be in the U.S.?

  • lindsay

i know this is an old post, but the people that said sephora were right on the mark! all the soap and glory products are there, but alot pricier. (as to be expected)

  • Ariel

    So now Soap & Glory is at Sephora? Great. -_- I love that expensive ass store. NOT. dangitt Soap &Glory why oh why did you have to leave Target? I am a Soap & Glory customer no more…:'{
