You NEED This: N.Y.C. New York Color Cosmetics Extreme LipGlider Lipgloss Review and Swatches

At first glance you may mistake the new N.Y.C. New York Color Cosmetics Extreme LipGlider Lipgloss for the Urban Decay Ultraglide Lip Gloss. But there isn’t any mistaking the $3.99 price tag versus UD’s $17 one!

Jump!

A watermelon flavored thinly packaged lipgloss with a slanted tip applicator and a mighty formula with a small price tag!

Needless to say I expected no real greatness from N.Y.C. New York Color Cosmetics Extreme LipGlider Lipgloss because it simply didn’t LOOK all that fabulous. I’ve actually tried Urban Decay’s Ultraglide and it failed to impress me so why would New York Color Cosmetics version trigger any excitement? Present me with $4 lipgloss and chances are I’ll turn up my nose in disgust.

But don’t let this slim line package full you, it packs a punch. You need it!

Extreme LipGlider Lipgloss is available in a few shades plus a few LE ones as well for $3.99 but you can snag a coupon for $1 off at select drugstores and experience the joy for $2.99. Sweet right?

The formula is incredibly thick but gorgeous on lips and quite comfortable. The gloss tastes and smells like a watermelon rancher and sports a slightly sticky formula which wears quite long on lips. Most of the shades are decently pigmented and leave behind a nice bit of color when used alone or add a nice pop to lipsticks or stains when applied on top. As I mentioned the formula has a nice thick texture so it makes lips look fuller and pouter.

The packaging is a very slim line tube with a slim slanted tip applicator. I was worried about the applicator a bit since it’s so thin but it manages to allow the gloss to glide on beautifully well and allows for precise application.

I tried a few shades but one that sticks out as the best would be the limited edition color, Fuchsia Shock. I got one of these to test out and proceeded to purchase two extra, def do not want to be without it. It’s semi-sheer and makes my lips look fuller while giving them a blushing pink color. Quite gorgeous.

The other shades I tried were Metro Mauve (mauve shimmer), Downtown Brown (light chocolate shimmer), Riverside Rouge (brick red), Chinatown Cherry (rich cherry red). Although we are far off from the holiday, I can’t help but feel how delightful Riverside Rouge and Chinatown Cherry will look with some holiday FOTD’s! All of these shades are quite pigmented and they leave behind a fair bit of color pay off.

Can’t rightfully say anything bad about these little guys. Cheap, good formula, great taste…naa nothing bad here!

  • Anyone looking for a decently pigmented gloss that’s under $5.
  • Anyone who likes a thicker gloss with a shiny finish and nice color payoff!
  • Anyone who wants to keep their gloss hauling in the budget zone!

  • Anyone sensitive to flavor or scented lipgloss products (these are heavily scented with watermelon and taste like it too!)

N.Y.C. New York Color Cosmetics Extreme LipGlider Lipgloss was a pleasant little shock. I absolutely adored these and I’m quite smitten with the formula and the teeny tiny price tag as well. You can’t seriously lose any money by trying one or two out for size since they are priced under $5 each! The formula is gorgeous and wears for a few hours without migrating or fading away (unless you lick off this tasty gloss!) plus I’m finding myself rather fond of the cute skinny packaging.

Very nice and Muse Approved for purchase.

I think you NEED these!

Why don’t any of my NYC stands carry the blushable creme sticks or these glosses from their regular line?

I love these lip glosses. Picked it up a few weeks ago in Big Apple Red and Mulberry St. Mocha. They are both very flattering on my NC30 skin, a little thick but not too tacky, with a bit of glitter that’s subtle enough to wear during the day. They smelled more like cantaloupe than watermelon to me, but in a pleasant, not sickly sweet kind of way.

I have not tried these… because I’m not a big gloss fan but next time I see it – I might pick one up. Doesn’t hurt the wallet at all.

Hmmmm….would you say the consistency is like UD Ultra Glide? I loved UD Ultra Glide myself and have been looking for gloss similar to replace it. I’ve seen these at Duane Reed and Rite Aid but passed..now I’m intrigued. 🙂
