Bobbi Brown Pink & Gold Lip Palette Review and Swatches

Hey Bobbi!

Totally digging on the new packaging on your compacts for Holiday 2010. Is this what we can expect from all upcoming releases? So chic, so ivy league! Loves it dear.

What do you think of the new compacts? I really love it. Don’t get me wrong the old standard black compacts were nice enough but I kinda dig the Bobbi Brown emblem on the Holiday items. I purchased the Eye Couture Collection and it also sported this packaging so I’m kinda hopeful they might stick with the theme for new compacts released in 2011.

Anyway, ’nuff babbling ’bout that! Betcha wanna hear all about the new Bobbi Brown Pink & Gold Lip Palette released with the Bobbi Brown Holiday Collection 2010 dontcha?

Well jump on ahead!

The Bobbi Brown Pink & Gold Lip Palettes features six shades of Bobbi Brown Lip Colors in one slim line palette!

If your lip wardrobe is lacking warmer shades of rose for the cooler weather this is the palette for you. Out of the selection of six shades, five of the colors are very warm shades of rose, berry, and pink. The shades look and feel universally flattering to my eyes. Nary a single one doesn’t not work for me and I can easily incorporate them into any number of looks from a smoky eye to a super, nude natural look. I think that’s part of the joy of the palette, the shades all being fairly suitable for most any skin tone.

If you’re not a lip palette kinda girl, I know I’m not, this could prove something you may overlook but do glance at it a second time if you’re at a Bobbi Brown counter and have a little swatch. You might be surprised at how much you like it. I’ve never really carried around lip palettes prior to joining the ranks of Bobbi Brown fan girl status. My first lip palette from Bobbi Brown featured eyeshadows as well but I soon realized I actually hit pan on the shades of lip color included. Pretty dramatic feat for someone like me.

Fact of the matter is they are a convenient way to carry around a number of shades in one small case plus Bobbi always packages them up with a killer lip brush which makes application a snap since the brush head is such a generous side and soft as well, no stiff lip brushes here.

The texture of the shades run a bit hard but they wear well on lips once applied and are ideal topped with a clear gloss. Color pay off, to say the least, is great as the shades are all pigmented aside from Sunset Nude which comes across as subtle hint of gold. It’s best suited for layering on top for that “gold” rose effect.

Shades included in this particularly palette are Roseberry, Kir, Pretty Pink, Sunset Nude, Italian Rose, and Brownie. Check your stash for the last four shades as these are available in full size Bobbi Brown products.

Roseberry is a warm rosy berry and my favorite in the compact. Kir is a metallic lip color that leans towards being a brown rosy shade, Pretty Pink is a nice shade of deeper brown pink, Sunset Nude is a golden beige, Italian Rose is a brownish rose, and Brownie, obviously as per its name, is a warmer shade of brown with hints of rose.

As you can see the theme of the palette leans towards more brown based shades of rose, pink, and berry.

If you’re a traditional lipstick user you may not find the joy in “painting” on lip color!

  • Anyone who likes variety (six shades to choose from lets you customize your lip looks by cocktailing different shades, wearing together, or one by one!).
  • Anyone who likes carrying several shade of lip color around (here’s six in a chic compact).
  • Anyone who likes Bobbi Brown products (anyone who has experience some of Bobbi’s palettes that contain both lip color and shadows will love this).

  • Anyone who likes to go the traditional lipstick route (if you’re more about applying lipstick from a tube you probably won’t like a lip palette).

The convenience of carrying around six shades of lipstick in one slimline palette definitely appeals here plus the warm shades of rose, berry, and pink are an ideal selection for the colder weather. This set is a nice one for fans of the Bobbi Brown product line that want more for less or for those who just generally enjoy lip creams! Quite gorgeous and a nice addition to Holiday 2010.
