Sephora Glitter Cream Eyeshadow Set Review, Swatches, Photos

After my great success with the Sephora Flashy Liner Gift Set I was all about indulging in a few more of Sephora’s Holiday Gift Sets. I never have any good luck with Sephora makeup but I’m loving some of these Holiday sets.

It’s possible that lightening can strike twice right?

Check it!

A set of five cream eyeshadows with a shimmery, glittery finish!

I got these during Sephora FF so I saved a few dollars and the entire set cost me $16 bucks which ranged about $3.20 per an eyeshadow. If you buy at full price it’ll be $4 each ($20 for the set). Either way you look at it, they aren’t too badly priced particularly because the shadows are a nice size, 0.12 oz each.

The set includes shades Butter Cream, Taupe, Violet, Teal, and Silver. It’s a good range of festive colors for the season plus a few more vibrant shades as well. I think the colors are great for advanced users as well as makeup newbies as this can inject some color into your makeup wardrobe if you play your shades a little safe.

The formula is cool and creamy but runs a little thin for a cream eyeshadow. They have decent color payoff but you need to layer a little bit to get the best results. Each wand has a sponge applicator so you can smooth on and blend out with your fingertips. They have a good lacing of silver glitter but nothing overly done, just enough to give your eyes a nice bit of twinkle.

They stay “wet” a little too long which makes it great for layering color but a pain for setting. I don’t like having to sit around and wait for my eye makeup to set. If you want to follow up with eyeliner, mascara, or just want to rush out of the house, you may need to develop patience as this takes time to dry down.

Without proper prepping and primer you will notice that they crease extra quickly and tend to migrate which is why I do not recommend them to anyone with oily lids.

  • Anyone who likes cream eyeshadows!
  • Anyone who wants a quick, fun look that’s easy to apply (swipe and go!).
  • Anyone who likes shimmery shades of shadow.

  • Those who don’t like cream eyeshadows.
  • Those with oily lids.
  • Anyone who doesn’t like shimmery shades of shadow (although I don’t think these are too overly done in the shimmer department).

I liked the kit but didn’t love it. It’s a nice selection of colors and a great one for super quick eye looks but I wasn’t keen on the tacky, wet feeling of the shadows and hated sitting around waiting for dry down. At this price, I really can’t find too much to complain about however I feel like I won’t get proper use out of these do to the one flaw of the formula. Not bad but not great either.

Anyone try ’em?

Love?

Do share your experience with these if you purchased!

I got them and tried them out the other day…I have the same comment about drying, but thought they blended well while still wet (I’m a newbie so this may not have been the best idea as the intensity really washed out with wet blending). By the end of the day the inner corner of my right eye that I had been poking at (I wear contacts and had something bother me) was completely gone, which of course looked very odd! Luckily I was just at home, knowing better than to try something new and go out in public 🙂 I’ll try again since I’m all about experimenting with makeup late in life and figure I did something wrong. I do love the colors and hope I can get some use out of this set.

      Hi Michelle.

Thanks for sharing! I think the wetness was great for blending plus you could easily build up color this way but was a pain when it came to adding in liner or just heading out. Ugh! It stayed wet so long. oh no doesn’t sound like you did anything wrong ;-D keep building up for better color payoff ;-D
