Sleek Makeup Pout Polish Powder Pink Review, Swatches, Photos
With Sleek Makeup making the rounds on the Beauty Blogsphere I thought it was about time I took the plunge and reviewed some of their selections.
Sleek Makeup is available exclusively in the UK at Superdrug locations but the brand is nice enough to have a handy dandy website that ships to the US, sweet eh? Most of the raves surrounding the brand are over their eyeshadow palettes which are proclaimed as inexpensive and mad pigmented. I purchased a palette a while ago that I never used it and most recently another one when I indulged in the Sleek Makeup Pout Polish.
And….
I thought it was about time we dove into Sleek Makeup and see what all the hype is about.
Wanna check out the Pout Polish?
A tinted lip conditioning balm formulated with natural oils such as Almond Oil and Shea Butter.
So yes, MAC fans are probably sitting there tilting there head and saying, “wait, what?” Yup, looks like a MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner doesn’t it?
It is indeed a very good dupe of MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner, honestly, spot on dupe almost.
Main difference, size and price. MAC’s version is 0.5 oz and $14.50 where as Sleek’s version is 0.3 (almost 0.4 actually) for $10.58. You’re actually saving a little money indulging in Sleek’s version if you’re in the UK (you have to factor in shipping if you’re in the US and therefore that makes it less of a bargain in the long run).
Some other noticeable differences would be that Sleek’s version seems more emollient and also has better pigmentation. For example my Popster Lip Conditioner gives my lips a slick, subtle kiss of peach and Sleek’s Powder Pink comes across hecka loud peachy pink, almost neon-like and has a super soft, creamy, hydrating finish with a glossy look.
The texture is thick and builds up incredibly well for more pop. The product is difficult to describe in terms of formula as it leans towards being emollient but not sticky or tacky and creamy but not crazy glossy or shiny.
It’s an interesting product that you can get interesting results from and some of the shades are easy dupes for the Hello Kitty MAC Lip Conditioners if you missed out on those!
The interesting thing about these was the fact that after application I sat around for a while with the product on and later proceeded to wipe it off with a tissue and it stained my lips a really lovely shade of peach. I actually liked this result better than the actual color of the Pout Polish I choose ha! So it’s kinda nice to know if my lip product wears off, I still have a nice flush of color on my lips that remains.
Btw…
It also contains SPF 15!
I only got one shade which was Powder Pink but it was a bit overpowering on my lips. A little too cool, colorwise, and it made me look a bit washed up. Perhaps Perfect Plum would have better suited for my skin tone.
The fact that these come in a jar may sway folks from buying them but Sleek suggests using a lip brush to apply to avoid putting your fingers into the product!
- Anyone who wants a pop of pigmented color for lips that hydrates, moisturizes, and leaves behind shiny, gorgeous color.
- Anyone who loves MAC Tinted Lip Conditioners (these are an easy dupe, think MAC on crack as Sleek packs a bit more into their version).
- Anyone who likes a more natural lip look (these give a more natural appearance when the right color is selected and aren’t as heavy as tacky glosses or lipsticks).
- Those who do not like dealing with airmail, overseas shipping, etc…(These have to be ordered online and arrive from the UK).
- Anyone who isn’t keen on lip products that you have to dip into.
My first venture into Sleek Makeup is a promising one. Count me very impressed with Pout Polish even though the color I selected completely washed me out. The product is an easy dupe for MAC Lip Conditioners but packs alot more into the pot in terms of pigmentation and quality plus price and value for those in the UK. This is a great lip product and well worth a purchase if you enjoy discovering new brands and products from abroad.
