MAC Complete Comfort Cream Review

Gather round ye old Prescriptives fans and enjoy an ode to Comfort Cream. Fans of Prescriptives cried bloody murder when the brand suddenly shut shop and took all their favorites products away.

I used to love their LE items but I wasn’t as die hard a fan as some of you are to this day. Some of you have proclaimed the joys of the perfect foundations and concealers from the brand and sobbed your heart out when it was said and done.

A little good news to lighten your heart. MAC brings back Prescriptives Comfort Cream in a big old jar plus a way cheaper price tag.

Sensitive types rejoice!

A thick moisturizer formula to hydrated and provide relief to red, irritated skin.

Although thick this absorbs fairly easily into skin and leaves behind a super hydrated finish. I actually like using this as a prep and prime for my makeup as it really creates a moisturized, even surface for my makeup. I don’t suffer from redness or sensitive skin but I can still take advantage of the extra moisture this provides.

Those with sensitive skin will find it very soothing and hydrating. Even if your skin is as dry as mine you can still easily see how delicate and gentle the moisturizer feels on your skin.

The MAC Complete Comfort Cream is merely renamed, resized (bigger), and re-priced (cheaper) version of Prescriptives Comfort Cream so if you were a fan now is your chance to snatch it up again!

It’s a basic moisturizer so don’t expect alot of bells, whistles, or anti-aging ingredients here.

  • Anyone who wants a solid moisturizer for prepping prior to makeup!
  • Anyone with sensitive skin.
  • Those who suffer from redness and need a moisturizer that’s gentle enough to ease the problem without causing further issues.
  • Anyone who wants a soothing cream with a good hydrating effect.

  • Those who want more (if you need anti-aging benefits, something to ease dullness, etc…this won’t do the trick).

This is a great purchase for those with drier more sensitive skin. It’s thick and creamy but still manages to be gentle and delicate on skin. It’s fragrance free and sports an easy absorb formula that makes it an ideal pick for pre-makeup moisturizer.

It won’t take the place of my daily moisturizers but when I’m hurrying around or need a bit more hydration, this does the trick well! I’d recommend it big time for those who are sensitive.

Anyone try and love it?

Not so much?

Feel free to share it here!

Would you say this is okay for someone with eczema? I’m quite sensitive to products so I’m always hesitant on new things. Right now dream cream and celestial by Lush are my go to’s but the redness thing isn’t solved by either 🙁

    • the Muse

I’m not sure Elle. I always think it is best to spot test first. Head to mac they might decant you some to try 😀

  • Sara

Ooh, it looks so thick and creamy! Could you do us a solid, Muse? Are there any silicones listed in the ingredients? 🙂

  • jbrobeck

Hi Muse! Do you know if there is anywhere I can look up the ingredients list for this product? I have very “reactive” skin, but this seems like it may work for me! I looked on MAC’s website, but didn’t see them listed.
    Thanks!
    xoxo

Sounds nice, but I’m still looking for the ‘perfect’ night time moisturizer with all the bells and whistles (anti-aging, not going to break out my sensitive skin).

    • the Muse

I can’t blame you dd ;-D mine at the moment is the miracle worker from Philosophy! AMAZING 😀

  • Mandy

I’m in the market for a moisturizer and do have red, sensitive skin, so I think I’ll have to give this a try!

  • mimi

Thanks for the heads up Muse!

I absolutely love Prescriptives Flawless Face Foundation and am happy to report that most Prescriptive products are alive and well at Prescriptives.com. I don’t know why Estee Lauder hasn’t made a major announcement about it.

    • the Muse

hi mimi sadly it’s temporary. as soon as they are sold out the site will be dismantled according to Estee Lauder.

  • Suzy

I called EL corporate and was told this wasn’t the same formula as the Px Comfort Cream. I was also told that none of the Px formulas have been added to other lines. Really??? We all know tha Px Magic was included in a MAC collection. I guess my question is can someone compare the ingredient list for the MAC and Px Comfort Cream?

    • the Muse

I did a chat with MAC Suzy and was told it was the same formula, very weird. I don’t have the comfort cream from PX so can’t compare but maybe someone will reply. or perhaps a google search will yield results!

  • Suzy

Muse, I was also told that Px online will sell as long as there is demand for the product. It’s sad that not everyone at corporate is told the same thing. Since Px started producing their best selling items again in June why don’t they put out an actual ad stating this? It’s hidden on the Px site. Now I REALLY want to see an ingredient list for the two Comfort Creams!!

    • the Muse

that’s weird Suzy when they decided to pull Prescriptives, Estee Lauder Public Relations had emailed me word that it was being taken off counters and would be available online until stock was depleted. I wonder why Estee Lauder’s own Public Relations team is relating information that’s not correct.

  • Suzy

Go to Px online main page, scroll down and click on “About Prescriptives”. This will tell you that they started production again of thier best sellers due to continuting high demand.

    • the Muse

hi suzy this is certain products not the entire catalog of products and seems they are saying for a limited time on the items. as they’ll “let you know” what they have available. That isn’t confirmation that the brand will remain online sadly 🙁

  • Nunuiviet

After your review and because my skin was a bit dry because of laneige strawberry yogurt peel I went to buy the cream I tried it once and is very hydrating without being oily , not too bad and the price is ok compare to la mer products! But really I buy too much I should stop, never really finish my products and always buy new ones…

  • Dorothy Pollock

I tried the MAC version and disliked it. It did not feel the same to me – not as smooth in application -and I did not like the smell. I’m so happy today to find out it’s back in production and is the original product per a live chat at Prescriptives.

  • Kristi Evans

Thank you!!!! I was on the last old drops of my 2nd fav Prescriptives moisteruzer (#1 was their Comfort Crme.) The MAC version came today and it feels the same (so far.) it smells a bit more, so Im thinking my sensitive skin will react. Hope not!

I have a picture of the label if needed.

    What a relief!

    • Isabella Muse

fantastic so glad it is working out for you Kristi 🙂 that’s great news!
