Jelly Pong Pong Lip Cushion Review, Swatches, Photos

I purchased my first Jelly Pong Pong Lip Cushion back in 2008 (CLICK!) and ever after that faithful day its been a part of my HG (holy grail) product line up.

Now that Summer is finally approaching (Humidity has landed today Yay, finally!) I’m about ready to haul out my Lip Cushion as it’s the perfect treat for parched lips in the warm weather.

Check it!

An irresistible cushion-soft gloss with a squishy, elastic texture. Apply it on lips for a sheer, translucent tint & to moisturize chapped skin.

This comes housed in a delicate little pink box with a fluttery cutout butterfly. As far as I’m concerned outer packaging is just as important as what’s inside that counts and Jelly Pong Pong always pleases with their girlishly sweet attention to great packaging.

Inside is a small plastic jar of balm. It has a gold lid with a swirly font that’s both pretty and practical. My favorite shade of Lip Cushion is Crush which is a deep berry shade but I was recently sent Cerise which I didn’t already own and was pleasantly surprised at the way it stained my lips a delicious shade of strawberry red.

The gloss formula is an emollient, cushion-y texture that wears comfortably on lips and leaves behind a shiny, glossy finish. The texture kinda reminds me of a firm jelly or jam…kinda like a jam or jelly you’d get along with some pancakes at a diner (the little travel size condiment portions). Cerise doesn’t taste nearly as lovely as Crush but does have a very interesting flavor that I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. It’s sort of fresh cucumber with bits of fresh floral and fruits…weird but somehow it all combines together in a refreshing flavor!

Although running towards being a more sheer finish the balm manages to tint lips a delightful shade of strawberry red for a healthy flush of color on lips.

I find Lip Cushion is one of those addicting little lip products that you’ll reach for again and again and again as the day goes on!

The jar packaging might put folks off who want to travel with the balm as dipping into the jar isn’t the most hygienic application method when on the road.

If you’re sensitive to fragrance or flavor in your balm you might want to avoid as this is heavily fragranced/flavored!

  • Those who like tasty little lip balms to keep dry lips moist, happy, and tinted.
  • Those who want a lightweight. shiny balm for Summer with a hint of tint!
  • Those who adore pretty little lip balms!

  • Those who aren’t keen on dipping fingers into a jar and prefer a tube for application.
  • Those sensitive to flavored or fragranced lip products.

Jelly Pong Pong remains a very fond favorite of mine for many a year. The only thing I wish for is more colors and flavors! As of now the lines features three colors one of which is a clear shade…! Other than that it’s pretty much perfect in all ways. Who doesn’t love a lovely little lip balm that tastes yummy, leaves behind a shiny, glossy pout, and flushes lips with just a tint of color plus keeps lips hydrated and moist throughout the day?

Loves this one!

Very Muse Approved for purchase!

Are these anything at all like L’Oreal HIP’s Jelly Balms?

I heard they were discontinued so I need to find a good replacement product for them… the Revlon potted balm looks disappointing 🙁

    • the Muse

hey allison not quite….they are more emollient with a glossier finish. Mmm yeah I reviewed the revlon ones and wasn’t too impressed!

They really protect the lips though they lack a bit of pigmentation I thought.
They taste so good ! xD That’s an issue for me, it doesn’t last long on my lips because I can’t help eating it. >.>

Eee, so cute! I have been wanting to try out a couple Jelly Pong Pong things for a while based off your reviews (and like one poster here just said, saying the name makes me smile), but I’ve been too lazy to hunt them down and order. This will probably push me over the edge of try it…

    • the Muse

hey jonnie the site ships to the US hun plus Cherry Culture also carries some of it :D!

You know, I really need to get myself some Jelly Pong Pong lip products for the name alone. Even the name-Jelly Pong Pong-is awesom. xD

I’ve been looking for another good jelly balm to tide me over when my Skin Food Honey Pot runs out, and I think it’s going to be JPP! :3

Darn. I really want to try a lip cushion now, haha. I’ll keep stalking eBay to see if one shows up there. I’m not too big on the whole currency converter thing. D: (Although on the good side, I guess this keeps me from spending too much?)

X-D yes love Strawberry! I know, such a pain, but sterling coverts decently lately…not as good as when the economy started going downhill but not bad ;D!

I’ve been using it for 1 week as a lip balm as I don’t have any at the moment (so brooooooke).
I must say I am impressed, it is really hydratating and protective.

And it still tastes so good ! xD
