L’Occitane en Provence Pivoine Flora Eau de Parfum Review

Summer’s here…!

At least I think it’s here. We had a rather uneventful Spring with lots of rain and Summer kinda raced in to the point that AC is absolutely essential, SPF in large quantities should be worn, and a lightweight Summer fragrance needs to be picked out ASAP.

By the way, in other news, hordes of Jelly Fish crashed on Florida shores this weekend. The species is not really common (betcha they are related to the Kraken) and did sting a few peeps but Lifeguard’s had a “vinegar solution” on hand for those who did get stung…vinegar solution eh…hmmmm…..!

Just a word to the wise this is why we have pools people. The beach has seaweed, unknown species of Jelly Fish that may or may not be related to the Kraken, and sand that will get up in your business.

Anyway….

’bout that lightweight Summer fragrance we all need!

L’occitane Pivoine Flora Eau de Parfum might be just the ticket and hopefully it keeps Jelly Fish at bay or at least works on their sting if you happen to subject yourself to the evil wiles of the beach.

Jump!

L’Occitane en Provence Pivoine Flora Eau de Parfum was created to celebrate the Peony flower and Spring. The peony flower grows abundantly in the Mediterranean in the Spring and this fragrance showcases the vibrant colors and alluring scent of the romantic flower.

Although, created for Spring, I find that Pivoine Flora is the perfect lightweight floral for romantic Summer evenings. It’s a rich floral for the most part but has a strong green base that enhances the floral notes and brings them forth in a sensuous burst of fragrance.

First spray is a blend of bergamot with a bit of rose. Although no rose notes are contained within the blend my nose detects a bit of rose mixed with peony. Along with the mellow, warm bergamot hints of green comes through but quickly dries down to the flirty floral notes which include a mix of peony, magnolia, and violet.

The scent is a tad powdery but a true peony once it dries down completely. Hints of both vanilla and musk are prominent but Peony plays an all important role here for a full on floral fragrance that should appeal to those who like a true floral fragrance. It has a feminine, flirty feel with a bit of a sultry finish that makes it ideal for evening wear.

It’s probably one of the better fragrances I’ve tried from L’Occitane due to the long wear time and incredible throw. L’Occitane has created some very successful blends but the formulas are a bit weak sometimes and need touch ups within an hour or two of wear however Pivoine Flora has a strong, lingering scent that will last throughout the day!

If you like florals, I highly recommend this one for a lightweight, flirty little fragrance for Summer.

I was just in L’Occitane yesterday, checking out their new makeup collection (I picked up that fuchsia lipstick, but I think I might return it, now that I’ve thought about it some more. I tried it on in store and it was pretty, but when I got home it seemed like I had something similar already). I didn’t think to smell this, though, ’cause I was like “rose? Pass.” Maybe I’ll give it a go when I go back.
