L’occitane en Provence Pivoine Flora Healthy Glow Face Powder Review, Swatches, Photos
The L’occitane en Provence Pivoine Flora Makeup Collection is inspired by the graceful peony which dances like a ballerina in the Mediterranean breeze, the brand unveiled its stunning color collection of luminous springtime hues and velvety textures enriched with softening peony extract earlier last week.
The new Healthy Glow Face Powder is a matte bronze that has a soft peony fragrance that warms up the complexion with a soft glow of the sun.
I tried it this morning!
Here are my thoughts!
A scented dual shade bronzer.
Since L’occitane started on their makeup path last year they haven’t failed to impress me and this latest selection of products falls into the same realms.
The packaging of the L’occitane en Provence Pivoine Flora Healthy Glow Face is a very pretty flip top case with a full size mirror. The case is beige and features a water-like painting of a ballerina on the lid. It’s elegant and pretty, both of which we can all appreciate in makeup.
The bronzer inside is split into three shades. The left hand side is a muted traditional brown bronzer, the middle strip is a sparkling gold, and the right hand side is a richer brown. The two main bronzer shades have a matte finish with a silky formula that blends easily. The product doesn’t prove terribly pigmented and applies very sheer but builds up easily for more color pay off. I appreciate that the color isn’t heavily pigmented as bronzer should be applied with a softer hand less we all pull a Snooki. I thought the best application for technique was to apply a small amount and top with a bit of liquid cheek stain for a glow from within look. Or you can apply cheek stain first and the bronzer on top for a sunkissed finish. I thought it was novel that the product was scented like peonies. It smells very pretty but not overpowering.
The shades and finish remain very traditional and should give a perfect sunny look for Summer. They lack shimmer and sparkle (so long as you avoid the overspray on first try) and have a matte finish.
Much to my disappointment the golden sparkle is merely an overspray which disappears almost instantly when you swirl your brush into the powder. I think the gold would have brought the muddier shades of brown to another, prettier level if it ran straight through but sadly it does not.
The powder does have a touch of fragrance to it. I didn’t think it was a heavy scent but it deserves mentioning for those sensitive to such things.
- Those who like bronzing powders!
- Those who prefer a more subtle kiss of the sun (this applies sheer but builds easily making it easy to apply and use).
- Those who aren’t keen on bronzers (the shades are typical muddy shades of bronze so if you aren’t keen on a tanned finish this might not be for you).
- Those sensitive to scented products.
Overall, putting aside my own personal feelings about bronzers I’d say that L’occitane en Provence Pivoine Flora Healthy Glow Face Powder proves to have a solid formula that performs well. I think the subtly of the color pay off proves an excellent point in the product since it builds easily yet remains fresh and lovely on cheeks without looking overly done or too orange and brown. If you’re a fond fan of bronzers, you’ll find no fault here!
