Milani Haute Flash Shimmer Lipgloss Review, Swatches, Photos
Milani has had little limited edition coolness going on in the Summer but not many people realize it as they weren’t really marketed so well in the past.
This year, Milani took the initiative to actually tell bloggers about these great little limited edition runs so we can feed it back to our fellow makeup junkies.
Sweet right?
So you don’t have to walk into CVS and accidentally run into a Limited Edition Milani Display…..instead you can go all out stalker and start tracking through your CVS on the hunt for the wicked goods.
This Summer, Milani has three limited edition collections releasing at CVS that will be available in July only (psstt some CVS have the displays out). These collections include a range of new Color Streaks Hair Mascaras, a Neon Specialty Nail Lacquer and Paint Eyeshadow Palette, plus new Haute Flash Shimmer Lipglosses.

A full coverage, electrifying lip color with a shimmer finish.
Milani takes a note from the MAC Dare to Wear Lipglasses with their new Haute Flash Shimmer Lipgloss.
These are a highly pigmented, full coverage shimmer lipgloss. They are available in four shades and are out at CVS for a limited time.
Shades available are:
- Hot Flash
- Flashy
- In the Flash (purple)
- Star Flash (pale nude lilac)
I tested out two which were Hot Flash, a bright shimmering ruby red and Flashy, a bold shimmering fuchsia.
When I saw them I thought of Patrice from Afrobella who rocks purple like no one else’s business. I knew instantly these would like ridiculously on me but anyone with darker skin will look amazing in them.
Now the colors are really loud and outrageous so if that’s your bag and you can work it, you’ll probably love them.
However…I did have issues with the formula as well….
I personally didn’t like the formula however you may not, it really depends.
It applies a bit patchy but if you take time out to work the wand on your lips you can get nice, even coverage. I just lack the patience to sit around and rub the sponge applicator back and forth on my mouth to get proper coverage. Oh bother!
Milani promises a non-tacky formula and indeed it is. The formula is very lightweight for a full coverage lip product and acts more as a thinner lip cream than an actual gloss as I don’t get alot of shine from it. Now I did think that they looked best with gloss on top. Milani also says they won’t feather and that’s actually true. The gloss formula wraps lips up and doesn’t migrate around. They wear extra long as well.
- Women with darker skin.
- Those who love extra vibrant lip colors!
- Those who have a bit of time and patience when applying gloss!
- Those wanting a full coverage lipgloss!
- Those wanting a lightweight, full coverage gloss that wears long and doesn’t fade or feather.
- Those wanting full coverage and a glossy finish (this doesn’t quite bring the shiny).
- Those who are rushy with makeup application (TLC is needed during application).
- Those who aren’t quite keen on a less than emollient lipgloss (these aren’t particularly moisturizing).
I personally didn’t like the drier formula but it’s different strokes for different folks in this case. The product needs proper patience, care, and attention to get into place correctly and gives a nice popping lip look when topped with gloss. My main problem was the gloss ran a bit drier, applied patchy unless I went over it a few times, and the colors are a tad too loud for me.
However, if you like really bolder shades of glosses you might like these alot. They aren’t exactly what MAC Dare to Wear Lipglasses were however if you liked that range of color you might enjoy these particularly if you can work it as wicked as Patrice does.
