geoGirl GR8 Lip Shine Review, Swatches, Photos
geoGirl is a new line of cosmetics launching at Walmart (it’s already available at some Walmart locations) for Fall 2011. This collection will actually be replacing the old Mary Kate and Ashley Cosmetic Collection and features natural ingredients and is free from parabens. The line is meant for 8 to 12 year old girls (tweens) but there are a few pieces that might capture the eye of older makeup junkies.
I personally loved the Kewl Magic Face Refresher and I’m no where near that age group ha!
Let’s take look at the geoGirl GR8 Lip Shine.
A lipstick with a natural formula that’s free of parabens, sulfates, petroleum, paraffin, synthetic fragrance and color, carmine, and animal ingredients.
The 8 to 12 year old marketing might make you pass these by in your travels through the makeup aisle but I suggest checking the line out as you might find a budget item or two that appeals.
Although they dub these lipshines they are full on lipsticks as far as I’m concerned. I only tried one shade but the one shade I did try was pretty pigmented and the color could easily be worn sheer or built up to medium color pay off. I tried out Bubble Gum which is a matte shade of bubblegum pink with a bubble gum flavor. The flavor kinda reminded me of those hard stick gums that used to be included with baseball cards, part bubble gum, part cardboard…I found it rather novel to be honest but the strange taste might not be for everyone. I find the formula soft yet drying a bit on the dry side. It applies a bit patchy as well so I do have to go over the color a few times for the best results. The pink shade is a very mod look for those who like more nude shades of pink.
The lipstick comes in recycle cardboard tube decorated with bees and each lipstick is $3.98 each so the price is quite nice for those on a budget. They say that Pomegranate is one of their bestselling shades, I’m curious to check it out.
I thought the Bubble Gum shade was a bit drying on my lips but I’m chalking it up to the matte finish. I’m curious to try out another shade to see if I get the same results.
- Those looking for a budget friendly, natural lipstick.
- Those who like more natural makeup sans parabens and other harmful ingredients.
- Those with tweens in their life who are just starting out with makeup!
- Those with dry lips (the matte finish is a tad unforgiving even on those with softer lips).
For the price bracket, geoGirl GR8 Lip Shine is a cute, inexpensive little lipstick that might be worth checking out your next trip to Walmart. I wasn’t in love with the Bubble Gum pink color sadly and felt like it was a tad too matte on me thus producing a patchy application but a few layers and it built up quite nicely and wore decently well although I’m curious to try another shade to see if I experience better results.
