Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick Abstract Orange Review, Swatches, Photos

Revlon has a limited edition shade in their Super Lustrous Lipstick that was released with their new Expressionists Collection for Fall 2011, the shade is called Abstract Orange.

I picked this up on a whim since I really love coppery shades for Fall and this fits the bill.

Take a look!

I believe I’ve reviewed Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick before on Musings and not much has changed since that review. The formula for me is a cop out lipstick as it feels really heavy, doesn’t have a hydrating feel or glide, and sits uncomfortably on my lips. On the upside the color pay off is quite rich however the formula, in my opinion, is sadly lacking.

I did however want to snatch up Abstract Orange since the color was unique enough for a haul. This is a pretty coppery orange that reminds me of falling leaves. I love pairing shades like this up with golds, bronzes, browns, and nudes.

Although the formula isn’t exactly worth it you may feel as strongly about the shade as me and want it for this reason alone. I thought Abstract Orange was quite unique and worth a pick up.

Sad formula, nice shade.

Did you haul it?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I LOVE the super lustrous lippies and will probably get this one. They feel smooth, hydrating and last a good while

Ooooo…. that is pretty! I may have to see it in person – it’s brighter than chicken little here usually wears, but that is really pretty. I don’t have a problem with the formula – it feels fine to me, so hafta look for this one and scope it out! 🙂

Wow, I really love this color. Though, I do agree with you regarding the formula, I’ll have to see it in person before I decide to buy it.

I totally agree with you about the formula of Super Lustrous! It’s a shame because they have such great colors, but it just feels so uncomfortable and thick.

*nods* def janice..just feels like it’s sitting there on my lips in a most uncomfortable way! ;-/

  • Jackers

Wow, that’s weird, they are one of the most comfortable lipsticks for me. Long lasting and non drying. Much better than MAC for me.

ooh..the color kinda reminds me of a shade of a Yves Rocher lipstick (it was like a super pigmented lipgloss) my mom gave me a long time ago. I love the color.

Pretty Colour, reminds me of Clinique’s “Peach Pop” which is just as gorgeous but maybe a tad lighter. Nicer formula though if you’re not liking the Revlon.

Oh. This color is so gorgeous. I really want to pick it up, but I fear that it still has the same old perfume smell as all of the other classic Revlon lipsticks…

I saw this in the discontinued bin at CVS today and picked it up because I was curious after reading your review… the color actually looks pretty good on me, so I’m surprised!
As for formula, yes, definitely exfoliate first if you have dry lips.
