Super by Dr. Perricone Brightening Activator Review

Dr. Perricone does it again!

Dr. Perricone released a new range of skin Activators in his Super line up. These are basically boasted up toners with “super” powers for getting your face in tip top order.

I tried out the new Brightening Activator and I’m quite excited at how well it performed. I’ll be hauling the others when Sephora Friends and Family hit as I’m digging on these little toners.

Check out what I thought of the Brightening Formula.

Jump!

A supercharged liquid toner that exfoliates, saturates, and activates the complexion.

Although the Super Collection was created for twenty-something skin I’m still really enjoying many of the products as they perform quite well. My skin happens to be quite dull and lackluster so I need to work extra hard to keep it glowing and happy. It could be dull for any number of reasons…dryness, aging, etc….solid skincare and moisturizers are essential for easing the dullness and Super has performed quite well for me in this area.

I’m absolutely in love with the Super by Dr Nicholas Perricone Night Recharge and the Brightening Activator is almost like having that formula in a liquid format. This smells exactly like the Night Recharge, kinda hard to describe but it has a herbal, fresh scent that I find very pleasant.

They call this a supercharged liquid treatment, I call it a toner…! It preps skin prior to moisturizer or it can be used after cleaning to exfoliate gently and saturated skin with a heaping helping of antioxidants.

They proclaim regular toners work by stripping the skin’s top layer where as this actually contains active ingredients to not only exfoliate but also to hydrate, and penetrate skin prepping it for moisturizers, serums, etc…. The brightening formula is meant for those who are concerned with uneven skin tone, dullness, sun damage, and hyperpigmentation.

The activator contains carotenoids, ferulic acid, and vitamin C to brighten, lighten, and correct uneven skin tone, and protect. Also contains Lactic Acid, and Phytic Acids to correct uneven skin tone.

In my daily use with it this week and last I noticed that my skin took on a blushing glow. This is exactly what the Night Recharge does to my skin. It basically makes me blush. It brings back circulation to my skin and livens up dullness by giving me the appearance of a freshly washed face. I look deathly without a good BB Cream in place but this and Night Recharge reverse that dull look and replace it with gently blushing skin. I didn’t notice any whitening, lightening, or correcting of hyper pigmentation but I have noticed the return of a glow to my skin and that alone made me a happy camper.

The formula is a lightweight water which hydrates every so gently and absorbs easily leaving skin dewy to the touch and prepped and primed for moisturizer. I follow up with Night Recharge and wake up with brilliantly glowing skin.

Loved the results…I’m hoping with prolonged use I’ll notice some correction in smaller pigmentation problems as well!

This comes in a glass bottle with a pump. I use it in the evening prior to any of my other treatments and directly after cleaning my face. I simply pump two squirts onto a cotton pad, smooth onto face, and follow up with my other moisturizers and serums, etc…

Price is a little high at $38 for a 4 oz size but I’m of the mentality that good skincare is worth the extra buckage!

  • Anyone looking to perk up dull skin!
  • Those with dryness that need a gentle way to whisk away dead skin cells or flakiness.
  • Those wanting to brighten up lackluster skin.

  • Those not happy about paying near $40 for a 4 oz toner (ouchie but worth it in my humblest).

I liked this alot and I will indulge in two of the other formulas shortly as I think they are well worth picking up. It’s not a miracle for my skin as of yet but it did ease my dullness and that my friends is all I ask for.

These are well worth looking into particularly if you tried and loved the Night Recharge!

Muse Approved for purchase.

Expect a review on the others soon! I’m waiting for Sephora Friends and Family to haul.

Interesting. I have some acne scarring and I’ve been using Clinique’s Even Better serum and this sounds like it could complement that nicely with some much needed vitamins and brighteners. I’m also doing a chemical peel soon though so I probably shouldn’t overload my skin with this until after that… Will pick it up after. Thanks for the review! I haven’t tried anything from this line yet but have really wanted to.

hmm this seems nice…did you notice any burning/stinging though? my skin is crazy sensitive haha

    • the Muse

not at all cait…but my skin is really not sensitive at all…perhaps a little patch test prior to all over?

    • Fadburger

Cait I just put a sample I got from Sephora on and it burnt my face for a second then it went away…I suggest getting a sample too and sampling it on a small spot just in case, usually my face isn’t particularly sensitive…

I’m sorry Muse but, is this like a typical toner or is it more like an Asian toner? Just wondering because I’m scared it might dry me out but it sounds really good. Maybe the people at Sephora will give me a tiny sample to try or something.
