Wet n Wild Megashield Lip Color Review, Swatches, Photos

Wet n Wild Megashield is a new hybrid lipstick slash lip balm product with an SPF 15. I’m kinda loving all these new balms and lip butters lately so I was eager to try this as hey, the price is a mere $2.99.

Take a look!

Props for creating a lipstick with SPF 15 in the mix of things Wet n Wild as that definitely gains you a few points but formula wise I think you missed the ship on these.

These come in a lightweight plastic tube which is somewhat uneventful and flimsy. I normally chalk up Wet n Wild’s packaging as easy to store, bland, and pretty basic but not entirely bad however these look and feel a tad cheap. Sorry, hate to be negative but that’s the deal here but hey, keeping packaging costs down allows for more $$ to be spent on the formula right?

Wrong.

Not a great formula either.

This is a pretty basic lip color (swatched below Ring Around the Rosy) with a good deal of pigment but a rather uncomfortable feel on lips. They have an easy glide and a soft feel but they sit on lips a bit unnaturally particularly if your lips are dry or chapped. I noticed the longer the color stayed on the drier my lips got until the color stayed caking a bit and started to look rather gross. Needless to say after an hour in I had to wipe it off because it just looked bad.

The worst offense here?

The lipstick doesn’t swivel completely down. Oh my god way to get on my nerves. I dislike having to worry about taking a chunk our of my lipstick when I put the cap back down and this is basically the issue here as the lipstick doesn’t swivel completely down. Such a thoughtless packaging fail.

Overall, Wet n Wild Megashield Lip Color are merely 3 bucks so I guess you can’t rant too much at this price but the fact remains that it isn’t a great product packaging and formula wise I’m not exactly excited either. If you desire a full coverage lipstick with a decent formula and an SPF 15 they might be appealing but personally, I’d skip it. It is what it is, cheap lipstick. Use the $3 for something else.

Darn. I was really hoping these would be awesome given Wet n’ Wild’s previous successes, and given how much cheaper they are than Revlon Lip Butters.

mmm abby spend the money on revlon’s lip butter b/c they aren’t really that great imho! :-/

I hate how Wet n’ Wild lipsticks never swivel down. I have to be so careful with them :X

    Oh boo 🙁
I would’ve expected the formula to be amazing especially because I love their Wild Shine lipsticks (they’re pretty moisturizing).
The packaging for their lipsticks is a big pain, you really have to be careful when you’re opening/closing it, but it does help when you’re actually buying them because you can look at the actual bullet. :/

Awww. I’m surprised that wet n wild did such a big fail on this one. I’m usually quite fond of their lipstick formulas, the megalast ones in particular. Though the fact that the lipstick never swivels ALL the way down really gets on my nerves.

Only got $2-3 to spend? Get a Jordana Easyshine instead. I actually think those feel better than the Revlon lip butters.

The downside on those is they do the whole “some of the product sticks out of the tube” thing, too! I keep gouging tiny bits out of them. Hopefully, I’ll use them enough to get them flush with the packaging soonish. :/

I almost picked one up b/c there was a $1 off coupon… but none of the colors really appeal to me. However, it does look pigmented. I’ll give them that.
