Bobbi Brown Rose Gold Shimmer Brick Compact Wild Rose and Rose Gold Swatches, Review, Photos
Ah Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks! So beautiful but so challenging for me to use. I’m very heavy handed so I tend to over do highlighters plus having a rounder face I never really know exactly where to put these. I normally smile really big and bounce my blush brush on the apples of my cheeks. Probably the completely wrong technique for blush and highlighter application but I’m no expert!
But…there’s just something about Shimmer Bricks. I feel like I NEED to collect every single one that comes out and of course the new Shimmer Bricks released with the Rose Gold Collection are just stunning.
Take a peek!
Upon first inspection of both the Wild Rose and Rose Gold variations of these new Shimmer Bricks I was a little let down as I thought perhaps they looked a little too familiar to shades I already own. But after trying them I was completely delighted how much different they appear on my skin.
Wild Rose particularly struck me as dupe-able but it actually applies really bright and beautiful on my cheeks and I can’t easily say any of my other Shimmer Bricks look the same. The graduation of shades starts with a light pink, and moves into a beige pink, deep rose, dusky rose, and bright rosy pink. I think the name is particularly fitting as truly it gives a Wild Rose finish on cheeks, deep dusky rose with highlights of lighter pink. I liked this Shimmer Brick the best and felt it embodied the idea and concept of the collection. In my photo below I kept things very light and applied the new shade of blush Bobbi recently introduced with Neons and Nudes, Nude Pink, on my cheeks. Nude Pink is such a light shade it makes an excellent base for the Wild Rose Shimmer Brick as you aren’t starting out your application with a loud, vibrant blush and this gives Wild Rose the chance to shine. I dusted Wild Rose on the apples of my cheeks using a fan brush and it intensified Nude Pink in a major way and gave just the right bit of sparkle. I don’t think I over did it and it looked like a nice finish to me, not too disco-ball or overly shimmery. But I’m not an expert at application so you might feel different about the look I created. I tried to recreate the bronze-y rose lip look the model was wearing in the Rose Gold promo image but it proved impossible sadly. So I used one of the new shades of lipstick with this collection in Nude Rose and topped it with one of the new glosses in Pink Cocoa.
Rose Gold is a selection of almost pastel light, creamy beiges, creams, and peaches. This shade selection will look best if you’re looking to lighten up your look or add the right touch of highlight and glow on darker skin. I’ll do a Face of the Day using it shortly.
Overall, I thought Wild Rose was a true keeper. Rose Gold is equally nice but if you have to choose one I think Wild Rose should be it. Yeah, we own a ton of pretty highlighting powders and we surely don’t need more but who can resist when they are as stunning as these.
Loves!
