It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer Review, Swatches, Photos

I didn’t think I’d ever come across anything as pigmented as Amazing Cosmetics Amazing Concealer but fact is, It Cosmetics has targeted the market when it comes to super, duper, I can cover your dark circles, bags, and just about everything else that needs concealing.

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Anti-aging Concealer is probably one of the craziest concealers I’ve run across to date. Lord knows I know me some concealer and this one tops in at amazing.

Buh-bye dark circles, hello gorgeous!

Jump!

Ok girls and boys, if you’re as heavy handed as I am listen up. A little goes a long way here. Live by that people. This is a highly pigmented concealer so a very little goes a very, very long way.

If you have redness, minor fine lines, age spots, etc…this will pretty much conceal it all and dare I say like other concealers that promises to conceal tattoos this might actually DO that too (don’t have any ink so haven’t tested it myself but I did do the beauty mark test below).

This is creamy, thick, and is hydrating to some point but you do have to be very careful with your application as it does potentially go cakey and it will crease a fair bit if you haven’t prepped and primed properly prior to use. I find it a tad on the drying side but if I’m extra careful I can get a super smooth application that lasts ALL day without any creasing problems and a natural, flawless finish…seriously, I’m talking airbrushed flawless.

The trick is prepping well prior to use. Apply a hydrating eye cream prior to use, pat it into place but don’t let it fully absorb, allow it to remain a bit dewy to the touch as this will give the concealer a better glide during application. Now squeeze a small dot of concealer onto the back of your hand or wrist, not too much, a pin size amount can do both eyes. I personally love the E.L.F. Studio Concealer Brush to brush this under my eyes and than I proceed to follow up by patting and blending it out.

I use concealer to address puffiness, minor fine lines, and tiredness or dark circles. I don’t have heavy dark circles but I want my concealer to perk my eyes up, make them look less puffy and more alert and bright. This indeed does all of those things! It brightens up my eyes beautifully, eases fatigue, and makes me look like I just got back from having a 48 hour nap.

Now this is pretty rich so I’m not sure if it’ll squeeze into my daily routine because 1. it does take time to apply and 2. I don’t think I need intense coverage like this daily. However, as of now it’s been a two day romance and I don’t see any end in sight even if it does take an extra minute to apply.

According to It Cosmetics it not only conceals but also treats finer lines and wrinkles using hydrolyzed collagen, and vitamins C and K. It’s too soon to tell if this is doing anything for my fine lines but hey, nice to know it not only conceals but treats as well!

This comes in four shades (I swatched medium in this post) and a tube 0.28 oz is $24. Considering how little you’re using here, this is a very nice price and size! Below I did the beauty mark test…sorry, my beauty mark in the before picture is looking rather dull because I actually applied and wiped the concealer off. It’s actually a very dark mark but you can’t see that since it’s a little dulled out after the concealer was applied and removed but you can get a general idea for the coverage here at least from the before and after shots!

Overall, I was quite pleased with this one and it definitely gets a Muse Approval. I think this is the concealer I’ve been searching my entire makeup life. The only thing I’d change would be a bit of a more moisturizing finish but I choose to disregard this because a little eye cream under it helps it along perfectly fine. If you suffer from severe issues like redness and terrible dark circles I’d highly recommend giving this one a try and hey, the wear time along which lasts well over 10 hours straight is worth the purchase alone!

Loves it!

Omg I can’t believe you’re reviewing this lol! I literally just got this like a week ago. It’s AMAZING! Full coverage, barely need a 1/10 of a pea size for both eyes lol. Have you tried their bye bye pores powder?? It’s also great, gives me the same kinda effect as Mally’s face defender but also brightens up my complexion :D!

    • the Muse

hey you! haven’t tried the powder yet but got it in the mail along with this to try, so curious about it ;-D!!!!!!!!! next review to come ;-D! DEFFFFFFFFFFFFF only a drop is needed ;-D amazing coverage, my eyes are looking all kinds of crazy awesome.

  • molly

I love concealer! It is my makeup weakness! And I think I may have found my kryptonite lol

  • diane

i always see this line on the Q and now you have me tempted..do u think its more coverage than mallys cancellation conditioning or tartes maracuja concealers? thanks girl!

    • the Muse

def def def d. No doubt more coverage. I love Mally’s CC btw, it’s my HG but this def has more coverage! Maracuja was nice but I couldn’t quite get past the grease paint-like texture, it kept creasing and aging my eyes..this was far more hydrating and considerably more pigmented. that have a Today’s Special Value upcoming on Friday (next week) tell ya about it in a few ;D!

      • diane

oh wow i need this concealer if its even more pigmented than mallys! hers is my current HG..i saw the TSV in insideQ- i’m on the fence b/c i don’t want the powder and really do not need more brushes..ahhh

  • kimkats

whatwhatwhat???? A TSV next Friday!! Can’t wait to hear about this! Sittin on the edge of my seat waiting for news! 😀

  • Susan Lewis

I love I.T. Cosmetics but colors in this product run VERY light. I use LIGHT in the Tarte but the same color is entirely too light and too yellow in the I.T. I gave it away because it made me look like a Simpson. If there is a deal coming, I think I’m going to get the MEDIUM so I can compare it to the Tarte LIGHT.

  • totoro

OMGOSHHH this concealer sounds amazing!!!!!!!! but i was debating upon getting either the cover fx camouflage concealer or this. what are your thoughts?? which one should i get? my undereye area is really prone to dryness and caking too. 🙁 thanks for the review!!!!

    • the Muse

hi totoro I like the fx one alot but for super coverage this wins it hands down, def depends on how much coverage you are looking for. If you’re really dry you might want to seek out a more moisturizing concealer than either the fx or the it one. As both do require a little prepping so they don’t cake on drier eyes!

  • Mary

I’ve used this daily for over a year, and I don’t really need a lot of coverage–I apply it very thinly right after moisturizing, without foundation. I’m also a huge fan of the bye bye pores powder and the new lipstick/balm/stains. These are my HG products! FYI watch QVC on the 13th for a fantastic TSV.

  • Melissa

i pre-ordred the tsv from the q-insider. It should be here soon -can’t wait!

  • Emily

wow, i just tried amazing cosmetics concealer for the first time today and was so impressed by how it covered my redness i bought the big tube. but after seeing this i wonder if i should return it and invest in this… would you say amazing and it cosmetics’ concealers are pretty much comparable, or is this one better? wish i could try this in a store!

  • Sara

A concealer that might cover my deep purple pits of doom? Whaaat? Thanks for the review and swatches, Muse! My eye area is crazy dry, but the dark parts are concentrated around my inner eye area, so as long as I don’t spread it out to the outer (drier) area too much, this might do fine! Wish Sephora carried this for an in-store swatch test. I’m very pale, but you know how really light concealor looks under the eyes – reverse raccoon! Right, is that what the kids are calling it?

    • the Muse

my pleasure sara and def will hide all circles ;-D!!!!!!!! totally know what you mean! lol…you coined a new phrase ;-D the reverse raccoon!

      • Sara

Ha, no fancy coining here, I found it somewhere! Maybe some site doing one of those “top 10 beauty ‘no-no’s or something like that.” I’m just a phony. :/ :p

  • Donna

I tried this and it does offer great coverage, but boy is it light. When I first squeezed a bit out, it looked as though it would be the perfect color. But when I was patting it out, it started getting lighter and lighter. Way too light for me. Will probably try the medium.

    • the Muse

I normally like to lighter with my concealer and was disappointed when I was sent medium but it actually fits perfect for me donna ;-D def try it!

  • maddie

desperately trying to find someone who will ship this to New Zealand… i *must* try this!! Undereye circles are my current hell :/

  • undereye monster

    Hi Muse,

First time posting here, but I love your site and I was wondering, when you said it’s the shade “medium” is it the “tan” medium or “neutral” medium? Thanks so much!

  • Ame

GOD I wish this worked for me. Your review was so favorable, mine was not. It covered NOTHING. AT ALL. NOTHING. I might as well not have bothered putting it on!

      • AME

        I just noticed you replied:

It just covered nothing. I have serious circles, it literally was as if I put nothing over them. I had to mix it with something to get coverage or put something over it to get coverage. The consistency was gross too. Oily goo.

  • Maddie

i was going to add to this as well…i thought it was the best thing ever when i first got it. Then i noticed the little bits of grainy something in the concealer. That was annoying. Then i noticed that it would literally melt into my undereye area, covering not much at all after a few hours. I’m waiting to use mine up :/

  • PrettyPls

Yes! Annie, I was wondering the exact same thing! Dearest Muse, is the coverage, or any other aspect of this, better than Hard Candy Glamoflage? Thanks for the apapplication tips!!!

    • the Muse

hi prettypis this is much better than HD Glamoufrage in my opinion. creamier texture, less drying 😀

  • PrettyPls

Also, Dearest Muse PhD (in my book!), what is your HG concealer and setting powder when its hot and humid??? Thank you so very much!!! Dark Plum lipstick swatches have nothing on these under eyes and I am anxiously gathering products to find the perfect coverage……for 25 years!!!!

    • the Muse

at the moment this and skin food salmon powder are both my hg 🙂 LOL thanks…but hardly hehe!

  • PrettyPls

Oh WOW! I must wait for the answer to my second question to determine if I need a tube OR CASE of this!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!

    • the Muse

my pleasure! It’s very concentrated so it should hide all your woe. I love this stuff. Been using it since this review and haven’t used anything else to be honest! It’s one of the best concealers I’ve run across recently ;-D

  • Marisa

I think I’m the only person that hates this concealer. IMO, this is only gives me light-medium coverage (not buildable). My dark circles are a dark purple color and this doesn’t cover them very well. I don’t get it. I’ve seen people with super super dark circles cover theirs beautifully with this, but mine don’t get covered!? Plus the shade selection also sucks. I have light-medium skin with yellow undertones and the neutral medium shade is very un-natural looking; it just makes my dark circles look grey. The only pro to this concealer is that it’s long lasting and doesn’t look patchy throughout the day like most concealers.

    • Cosmogrl

Marisa, sounds like you’re using the wrong color. This concealer runs really light. You described your skin tone as light medium, but I’ll bet good money you need the tan concealer. When your circles look grey like that, you generally need the next shade up. They’re available in Ulta now, go in and try it out. Hope that helps.

      • Marisa

Tan would be way too dark. For reference, I’m about an NC 25, so my skin has strong yellow undertones. The neutral medium shade is more of a pinky beige color, so it’s not a good match. They should expand their color range to include some yellow undertoned ones. I can’t go down to the lightest one, because it’s too light and I don’t like the highlighted under eye look that most people do.

        • Cosmogrl

I know it sounds dark, but believe me it’s not. I’m a makeup artist and I’ve been working with It Cosmetics for a long time. NC25 is perfect for Tan. Give it a shot. I don’t know how I did anyone’s before I discovered Bye Bye Under Eye!

  • cat

I just got this concealer in the mail, Muse. It’s crazy how little product there is in the tube. I think more than two thirds of the tube was air. I get that they don’t want to send you this tiny little thing because it will seem like there’s no product but that’s a bit misleading, don’t you think?

      • cat

Uh oh. Hmn. I might have to write to them. The tube was sealed but it is definitely mostly air. I’ve only used it once and it’s like it’s almost gone.

        • the Muse

that’s VERY strange…sounds damaged to me. It’s very concentrated so you don’t need a lot but still that sounds like something went wrong. Mine was so filled that it flowed right out when I first opened it and I didn’t even have to squeeze the tube!!!!!!!!

          • Bri

Wow, I just purchased this and my tube was just about empty! I was thinking maybe that is just how the product comes. Thanks for pointing this out! Mine must be a defect.

        • jessica

I just bought one from Ulta and it was 2/3 empty! So this is not normal??

          • kelley

I also just bought this from Ulta & it seems the tube is mostly full of air. It’s extremely difficult to get anything out of the tube & eventually way more pops out than is needed & is wasted.

  • kellly

I know it’s a little late to be commenting on this review, but I’ve been looking to upgrade my concealer and searched concealers because I wanted to read what you recommend. This review is great, very informative and entertaining, too! I’ve had dark circles since childhood so finding an effective concealer has been a quest I’ve been on for a long time. I’m going to give this a try based on this super review. Thank you!

    • Isabella Muse

aw glad to hear it kellly 🙂 thank YOU! I sure hope you like it, it’s one of my very favorite concealers ;-D

  • Nicole

Well I gave this concealer a fair shot and in the end it is just not for me. 🙁 Bye Bye Under Eye did cover well and I actually really like that it does not look dry or settle into places you don’t want it to around the eye area. My problem with the product is it does take some time to apply it and get the results I want and my BIGGEST issue with the product is after order a tube and returning it because the tube was filled with air and VERY little product in it and waiting for a replacement and hoping I would just get used to the application process I opened the replacement tube and again filled with air! I don’t know what to think; I ended up returning the tube and am now again on the search for the perfect concealer for me…
It is a good concealer but for that kind of money I do expect my tube to be filled with product not air. 🙁 On a side note, I did get the double ended IT concealer brush and it was a very nice brush!

    • Isabella Muse

aw I’m so sorry to hear Nicole. I recommend the Sephora 57 as well as the ELF Studio Concealer Brush for the best application…sorry about the air thing, lots of readers experienced this but I never did!

      • Nicole

Oh it is ok… I had my hopes up that it would end my search for the perfect concealer, but oh well I will just keep looking. 🙂 I am writing your suggestions down and will try them out next time I am at Sephora! Thanks for the tips… 😀

        • Isabella Muse

do try those concealer brushes, I think they’ll change your mind 🙂

          • Nicole

The IT concealer brush was really awesome, but I am for sure trying the Sephora and ELF one as soon as it stops snowing here (if it ever does) and is not below zero! D: Can’t be driving around in a snow storm and/or subzero temperatures just to look at brushes… LOL 😀

  • Amber

    Hello Muse!

Your silent follower here have a question for you again.. Hahaha!
Would like to ask you, between having a good primer vs a good concealer for under eye, which do you feel is more important?
And I love the MISSHA extreme cover concealer (which I tried after reading about it here; believe your recommendations can’t be wrong <3)
I am looking at either the smashbox concealer ( not sure but the high def one is good?) or any other under eye concealer on par with it cosmetics one? 😛

    • Isabella Muse

hi amber you’ve confused me a little bit. Primer and concealer are two vastly different products and aren’t really comparable products, both are pretty important in terms of prepping your skin for all day coverage and for covering/concealing problem areas. So I won’t really see them as an “either or” type of product.I think both are essential. Hope this helps!?

  • Coral

Hi there! I got this product based on your review muse and I wanted to say I LOVE it, it is an awesome concealer. I do have prett bad purplish under eye circles and has been using boing for a while even though it was a little drying for my taste, I just got the it and it’s the best I’ve tried so far. I got the medium and I find it pretty light but unlike it cause besides concealing it gives a some light to the area just like a highlighter would do, so it works like two in one
I do think he key with application is to hydratate very well first and apply a good primer so it won’t crease not set into fine lines
My only complain is that the tube came half empty, I do not mind it being a small amount of product cause a little goes a long way, but it is annoying to have to squeeze and squeeze to get it out cause the tube is too long and only like 1/3 is actually filled with product
Overall I am very happy and thankful for this suggestion! A+ for you Muse!

    • Isabella Muse

YAY HAPPY TO HEAR IT! 🙂 I noticed that happened with the newer packaging, lots of people told me this, I haven’t experienced it but I’m still on an old tube! Sorry about that! try slapping it against the palm of your hand!

  • Coral

It was but I like it, not unlike, sorry for the typos, my phone kind of has a mind of his own lol

  • Alyssa

I’ve been using this for two solid years, nothing else, I put it on every morning and it is part of my routine. I’ve tried almost every concealer as I have huge dark circles that are hereditary. Nothing came close to this one, but i would say it doesn’t last long, I find myself reapplying a lot. If you ever find a better concealer let me know!

  • Michelle Luna

Lol “two day romance” sounds like me with everything and everyone haha. Anyway I’m glad to see you’ve reviewed this, I picked up the trial size tube of the waterproof formula in Medium (the trial size checkout section for suckers like me is DAMN NEAR the main reason I even go to Ulta or Sephora lol) and like the procrastinator I am I’m nearing the 60-day return policy mark this week and FINALLY just getting around to using it. I got it as a stand-in for the Bye bye redness pot as at the time I didn’t feel like dropping the money on it juuuust yet, and then when I was in line and saw this tiny tube I was like “oh maybe this’ll work the same but won’t sit in my stash for the next 30 years, just 10” ha. Anyway the first use, I did not like it! It went on orange/oxidized looking immediately, and was soooo hard to spread, it was tacky and was drying like as I spread it with my concealer brush. So then I tried to go over it with some NYX honey primer to thin it out, it was already pretty much set though so I used the concealer brush as if it were a buffer and got it to thin a bit that way, but it still clung to my dry patchy scaly skin far too much for me to be satisfied. A few of the girls at work said it looked fine but I basically have Hi-Def eyes when it comes to detail so I was like “whatever, plebeians, these patches are so obvious, at least I know to never ask you for makeup opinions again” I wish I’d taken a pic. I will next time.
Now I’m on my second time using it, it’s my day off so I decided what the hay, I won’t wash my greasy face first, and see if that helps it not stick too thickly. I decided also to try mixing it beforehand with the Honey primer on my little glass palette, but the primer is too slippy/lube-y and the concealer is too thick so it’s almost like oil and water. Hm. Welp, I glopped it on anyway and it was terrible, the concealer was like, beaded up inside the primer? So like only the primer was getting on my skin. So I ditched the brush and used my finger and that worked better. Once again it looks immediately oxidized as I apply it though, and I don’t know how much of that is the product and how much of that is me being fair AND olive toned (my first ever trip to an Ulta about 7 years ago resulted in my impulse buying a 1oz bottle of bareMinerals prime time in neutralizing, a yellow color, and discovering THAT was what will cover my rosacea redness, not green, and I don’t even need to top it with skin-color product, the yellow just blends right into me, therefore I must be olive tone? But I’m also pale AF, fml for being half Dominican and half Irish/Scottish/FrCanadian), almost all products are either too pink or too orange on me, I rarely find anything that isn’t straight up yellow-concealing to match me right out of the package. ANYWAY it’s been about 2 hours now and in some color lighting it just looks like I have a slightly-too-pale product on but the coverage is good, in other colors I can see the orange tone. Unfortunately, between my natural grease and the Honey primer, I am so shiny I legit look like I was in the middle of doing an oil cleansing routine and just stopped and left it on my ace. Feels so heavy and greasy!
So even though I’ve only tried it twice, I think I’m going to return this and just go for the Bye Bye Redness pot and call it a day (and also look into some chemical based exfoliant because using my exfoliating towel until I’m damn near bleeding somehow never helps and I still have scaly skin ;((((( can you or anyone here recommend anything?)
